LIVE GAME Round 16 v Raiders

Live Game Discussion
ya dead right.

Robbie Farah created and copped a lot of sh1t as a Tigers player and coach. But he hated losing. He did not accept defeat. Tim Sheens said that the only player he coached that was as emotional as Robbie was Ricky Stuart. Too much of it causes its own problems, but I feel that energy is what's missing from our side right now. Nearly insane stubbornness.

Maybe not everyone facing the same way, but dynamic enough to have different personalities around. Balance. We got rid of Bateman but he might have been absolutely right confronting Benji on his coaching approach to Junior and Senior players.

There is a lot of "I like footy but its not everything" vibes at the club. (Benji home early, May doesn't watch footy ever and would rather be a pro Gamer etc.). We are all junkies here. We're not like that. We would have no problem with someone destroying their families and their personal relationships for a couple of years if it meant a rabid obsession from them to get us into the top 8 and make us successful.

But writing that last bit out out sounds a lot like Michael Maguire, so again... balance.
I think the closest player we have to this is Api. Every week after we lose at the presser, he has the look of a guy thinking “WTF am I doing at this club”. But he’s already re-signed once, and seems like he might agsin, so he does care about the place. Maybe if Luai turned up to a presser every now and then, you’d see his care factor too. We’re exposed to it every week with Api.

You could say the same for Corey who was offside on the kick chase which lead to the fumbles that Raiders did a captains challenge for (same play).

Add into the 40/20 terrible call that was clear as day.

Do I add when the raiders gave up at least 5 penalties/repeat sets in a row on the line within 8mins and no sin bin.

People can say defensive efforts should be better, don’t disagree but in saying that these missed calls did make the difference in the game and costed us yet again.

I don’t care what others say but there is absolutely ref bias occurring currently.
Absolutely! When a prominent, experienced CEO calls it out, there has to be something going on and he is not the first one to point it out. It’s not just us one eyed supporters.

All the naysayers on here who think we’re just being conspiracy theorists when we say the refs are against us (inadvertently or otherwise) are just plain wrong. It’s the reason I stopped watching and supporting the game a few years ago and I think I’m just about to give it away again. Nothing has changed and enough is enough!

The worst thing that has ever happened to Rugby League is the introduction of the bloody betting. The comp has not been a fair comp at all since the betting agencies took over.

I’ve seen Luai in the pressers. I thought they rotated who fronted each week.

Based on leg pull could that fall under ruck infringement relating to play the ball speed and should never been allowed to challenge the hair pull?

Captain’s Challenge

A challenge may be initiated after the referee blows his whistle to stop play, rather than only after a decision resulting in a structured restart. Decisions which cannot be challenged will continue to include forward passes, roll balls and discretionary penalties including 10m offside, ruck infringements relating to play-the-ball speed, tackled into touch after held call and dissent.

I don’t like the shift to full Polynesian.
You need variety, you need different experiences, backgrounds and world views. You then build a culture based on shared values and goals. I suspect the new cultural shift is being forced on some of the guys rather than embracing something from them as well.
Might be way out of line on this but it’s how I see it currently. They aren’t a cohesive unit all facing the same way.
Yeah, actually agree for once with you tucker.

I have a feeling this might have been part of the reason why Galvin left.

Further to the point @TIGERS was making. I remember hearing somewhere that on game day, Craig Fitzgibbon does an intense workout, because he figures his players have a game that day, so he feels he should do something to match what they are going to put themselves through physically. Idk whether he still does it, it seems like something that only a rookie coach would do. But counter that with Benji, who on game day has been known to play a game of golf. Just seems like a big contrast. And this preaching family stuff. I think there is a place for it, but it doesn’t need to be shoved down our throats. Like any press release these days when we sign or re-sign a player, we hear how wonderful his family is. Something I’d imagine the majority of supporters couldn’t give a stuff about. I think that sort of stuff is better kept in house. We’re trying to win premierships, not promote we are the sporting equivalent of The Brady Bunch. At a club like ours, that has had so much failure, everybody should be all in and talk about nothing else but turning this club around. I think Madge was the exact type of personality that this club needed, however I think he overshot his target, and probably went too far. I think we need a Ricky Stuart type. I think Benji is a Temo version of Ricky from the POV of instilling pride in the jersey, however Benji does not have the same hatred for losing. And tactically he’s completely out to lunch. The club needs someone who puts winning first and not the importance of having a great family.

Clubs are required to spend 97.5% of the cap by June 30. So they can only have $280 000 left on the books after next week.
There is some creative accounting done, pre-loading contracts but there are some rules cap rules around the extent to which this can be done as well.
I'd suggest there is no way we are anywhere near even a mil under the cap. At best I'd guess maybe 500k under with some pre-loading done to make it compliant during the week.
where did klemmer and galvin money gone theres a mill right there

Tucker that's a bit ordinary. In Australia, nearly half of us (and I am one) have one parent born overseas. I am proud of Australia's diversity and that we live in a tolerant and inclusive society. Our catchment areas include cross sections of the community including Australians from the Pacific Island nations and Maori communities. These are family orientated Australians and the benefit for WTs is that they have many relatives who also play league.
You have missed the point. I agree our society is diverse, as is our team. We have Whites, Lebanese, Aboriginals amongst others so I am concerned at the push for one culture to dominate the rest.

Don't know where the money has gone but it would be only about half a million there if reported salaries are accurate.
At the time of their releases Tigers would of already paid a little over a 3rd of Klemmer's $650k and a little over half of Galvin's $350k.
