TEAM LIST Round 16 VS Dolphins

Team List
I've got a theory on Doueihi.

I, like many on this forum were, rightly at the time calling for Adam to be dropped because of his defence. We all acknowledged how good an attacking weapon he is but he was pretty bad in defence for a long patch.

He then turns the corner halfway through last season and having some absolute blinders this season until he injured his shoulder, some what innocuously, reaching out to score a try.

Maybe back when he was defending poorly, when he'd have a half heartedly grab or stick out a lazy arm he may have been carrying a shoulder injury? Once that had healed enough (maybe halfway through last year?) he became a tackling machine & showing no fear right up until he reached out for that try.

I don't know, just a theory.
I'm just at a loss at the total turn around in Doueihi's game?

How he's gone from an average defender to woeful turnstile only to then become a classy absolute grass cutter.....baffled. 🤔
The change came about because it is so much easier defending in field compared to out wide (centre/wing)
When he was defending as a centre his speed of the mark isn’t that quick which doesn’t help against fast opponents , defending more infield less speed of the mark needed as well as having better defenders either side of you for help, where a centre has his winger and we know how good they defend in today’s game. Rush in take no one 🤷‍♂️

Adam had turned the corner way before that, as his new-found vigour and effort was clear to see from the first minutes of our trial matches playing centre @Oldman

I think that Jarome had a lot to do with that improvement through the off-season too.

dont think so. It was with our early wins. Then floggings have ruined for and against and we need 6 wins plus the bye to make the semis. If we win this week, our probability would move to 50/50 chance of making it. At the moment, would think we are far more likely not to make it then we are to make it.

  • We perform at top 4 level with our starting side.
  • We haven't slumped to our customary 6+ game losing streak so far
  • Gutsy wins against Raiders, Bulldogs and Titans. (We are bouncing back from floggings faster than last two seasons.)
  • Team is performing and playing better after a bye unlike last season. (signs of coaching group understanding what the squad needs).
  • Good vibes in camp. Players normally poached from us have resigned. It's remarkable. We resign Sam F and that's some roster.
We're going to have to play some footy and score some points to play finals. It's the big milestone, yea but usually just an extra game for the team that finishes 8th. If Sione and Seyfarth step up until we get more troops back, we are a chance.
