LIVE GAME Round 16 vs. Raiders

Live Game Discussion
It's good to have AD back he competes on everything. We have really missed someone challenging attacking kicks and he does it so well. Hopefully we can string a few more wins and encourage Stef and co to stay on
He doesn't compete on everything - and again proved a massive defensive liability with appalling misreads leaving him clutching at air - and then lack of effort to turn and chase!

And if he had not got the intercept - he again would have left a gaping hole for the Raiders to score!

Will be a huge liability in close games - and we can't afford the -12 points he provides every game!

1 handling error - and the dropped ball over the line...

Stop padding the negative stats
He is likely including the forward pass he threw too. All 3 errors came in the first 13 minutes. From that point on though he more than made up for it. Looked dangerous every time he chimed into the backline

For all the forum members salivating over how great our kids are,and they did a great job today...Dont belittle Bateman,Klemmer or Papi because its their skill know how that has helped these kids develop into NRL quality players...
Its always easy to bag the elder hard heads when things go well, but they are there when things are tough...
A bit of respect to the older warriors goes a long way...
I hope Benji told them in the sheds after the game let's celebrate the win but we've achieved nothing yet. Let's do it again next week and let potential signings know we are building something special at the tigers.
I hope he said celebrate today, tomorrow. Thats it. Roosters next week. At a time suitable for all the Roosters team and organisation - last possible game of the weekend. 6pm Sunday. Not Saturday. But last possible game. Great draw. Love it. So fair.

I just rewatched the game and paid particular attention to AD given the differences of opinion on the quality of his performance. I was pretty quick to pounce on him yesterday when two of the three tries during Seyfarth's time in the bin were bought about by his poor defensive reads. I thought I may have been a little harsh in my assessment given some of the commentary on his performance, in atttack and defence, on this forum and in the press.

13 on 13 he was pretty good in defence and very good in attack. His technique at times in defence was not great but he was able to use his strength to outmuscle opponents. Overall the defence of the whole team was solid and there was great trust shown for a team with such a shuffled backline. However, when we lost Seyfarth it was a different story. When we switched to a compressed line and went up and in as they shifted the ball our right edge held its line much better and scrambled well. On the left edge AD rushed up out of the line and made next to no effort in defence once the ball went past him. He jogged along watching two tries unfold. Had he held is nerve and pushed them to his outside shoulder there was every opportunity for him, Faataape, Bula and the sideline to shut the plays down.

Resilience is a combination of attitude and effort - AD has shown through his most recent recovery that he understands what resilience is; he has overcome a lot to get to where he is. However, he needs to realise that the attitude he had in attack yesterday has to apply on the other side of the ball as well. If he wants to be part of the Wests Tigers resurgence his attitude in defence needs to improve; otherwise he is too much of a risk.

Great win by the boys. Unexpected but so good to see them rip in! But... we need to talk about that sin-binning.

Within the space of 30 seconds there was a tackle reset, penalty and a sin-binning all for minor indiscretions. Seyfarth hardly touches their player and puts his hands up almost straight away and still got 10 in the bin. He can't disappear. What else could he have done?

Would other teams have got that call? I've seen the Storm do similar this year and not even penalised. Is it an unconscious bias from the refs? Do they panic when we are in front as it's not what's expected?

I know we have a dog in the fight and it's hard to keep objective but when I have mates who support other teams bring up how the refs hate us almost every game It's hard to to agree with them.
Be interesting to see the regular crap from Annesly.
I believe it is 6 agains give outside of the attackers own 40 unless there is an infringement that causes a break down of play. Ie a lost ball or something that causes the set to be unplayable.
I didn’t see any reason why the 6 again couldn’t have stood.
I also didn’t understand how they didn’t have a right to Challenge the call.
Some of the referees are a bit arrogant in their rulings. But play stopped there was a penalty it was challengable it seemed the ref just had enough of us by then and allowed Canberra to play on.
Well Todd calling it for how I see it how you can deny a big forward the chance to get a ball to the turf one on one and can consequently prove a hooker can over power 3 players is beyond me.

Not for you and me. We believe. Our team didn't. Where was the belief there??? We show up every weekend. But the opposition did play poorly. We forced them into a conundrum.

It
Just watched the highlights again, specifically watching Samuela. Wow. He is the man. Haven't been this excited about an edge since Gareth. Watch the work he does on the ball, off the ball, defence, offloads, an absolute weapon of a forward at 20YO !! . He is more important to keep long term than Stef if we can't keep both.

Off the ball he is everywhere. Chasing kicks, cleaning up loose balls, covering...I think he's all class.

Defence is solid too.

Some clear forward passes by Canberra from dummy half were let go as well. What were the touchies doing? Not even flat / line ball. Half a meter forward. Ricky couldn’t complain about refereeing this time. Every 50/50 call went Canberra’s way.

It was a really soft sin bin. Penalty sufficient at most. Also, Canberra’s first try where Levy burrowed under. Can’t remember who was playing the ball for Canberra but he stepped so far off the mark he was practically in line with the markers who were set at the time. Cleared a path for Levy to barge over.
That was a joke. Didn’t even mention that he walked in front of the markers. Blow up the bunker if they cant see that.

Just needs to get the mistakes out of his game, made 3 errors in about the first 10 minutes.

Get them out of his game and he will play with a lot more confidence.
One of his errors was almost a great solo try. With high involvement you’ll get some errors, you have to live with that. Billy Slater would always have a few.

Height makes a huge difference. A taller person has longer reach, huge advantage in the contest.
Yeah no dispute here, but I don’t care if it’s a dwarf you simply gotta get someone near the ball to make it a difficult catch. Good to see we finally addressed that.

We have now an exciting future . Finally youth is looking like its going to pay dividends
Especially next year
We have the following play maker game breakers
Sezer ,Douehi ,Bula ,Galvin and Korisau ,Olam and then Luai !
All supported by enthusiastic youth the Fainus , the Laulilii's ,and Steph and and array of competent wingers and utilities eg Mason
That's a lot of classy attacking options
Just make sure we are picked apart by the "cap unlimited super clubs "
