The players that featured in origin aren’t eligible for selection nor able to play club games this week due to 14 day quarantine??

I doubt that, where did you hear that?

I actually just thought about it.

All NRL teams including the SOO are in a level 4 bubble, that is clean and dirty zones at clubs, chartered flights, no visitors to their homes etc. That allows them to cross state borders without quarantine.

Unless you wear a Souff's jersey..they dirty..

Souths fans and players shouldn't be allowed to leave home even without a pandemic.

 :joy: :joy: :joy:

Yeah, sacking Maguire will more than likely make us even less attractive to players. It won't fix the problem.

Maguire's messages don't seem to be getting through but it's been a recruitment and retention issue at all levels that sees us where we are. We need to develop the good young players we have and find a star, win a few games and people will want to come to play with them.

Never mind the players, if we sack another coach, what quality coach will want to come here?

I think we need to stick to plan.

Maybe ones already here?

Who’s that old fart? Oh, it’s our pathways manager, you need to get your head around what his position is?

Pretty disrespectful to say that about the only successful coach in WT history.

You didn’t say who it was? Took me a while to realise.

You knew it was our pathways manager but didn’t know who it was?

As I said, it took me a while to realise it. If you are aware of his position, why are you giving him a promotion?

Because things change quickly in rugby league, and if we keep crapping the bed, the powers that be will be all over Sheens like a rash. He’s turned the club around before, no reason to think he can’t do it again?

I’ll use your line “he can’t coach” any longer.

Wait until Sheens starts to have chats with our young players. He'll take things to an entirely new level than Maguire.

As a fan of the club, I hope he does. But chats not coaching.

You sack the coach you back this group of players to be a top eight squad - assuming that's the reason the coach is being sacked. Not one rep player amongst them or one even being talked about - SOO need a new half - a nucleus of developing players, and fans at odds about who our best player is - in other words there is no definitive one. You either want a club rebuild and get the soft tag off our back, or you keep sending the message to players that like the money without the work and they will keep coming.

Good post

Well if they not already coaching an NRL Club then they can't be all that good. However, our Reserve Grade Coach does look promising. He had the Reggies running OK until players were moved around through injury & 1st Grade Promotion. He's getting to know the young guys first hand and ought to be given the opportunity when Madge hangs up his cliches. But sadly "it's not who we are" and we'll probably employ Neil Henry!

But I wouldn’t expect any less from the Wests Tigers.

https://www.weststigers.com.au/about/board/

look at them. they seriously have NFI about football operations. We could do better, and I don't know (m)any of you. DINOSAURS.

accountants, lawyers, musicians,, marketers, a painter and some bloke. All we are missing is a property developer .....what a rabble. It starts at the top and those people are there.

Ok who from here would be on your board @the_third lol

Any of us would do better, absolutely any of us. Just take the top contributors and go from there. many people on here would have more of an idea about running a board/football team than these guys.

Some on our board have 20 years experience in running rubbish teams.... If we want to recruit good players, we should want good board members.

I tend to think. If we move in another direction from Madge. We have the bones to pick a younger / rookie coach with the introduction of Sheens as a head of football. We have a mentor ship role set up perfectly now.
Who knows maybe Madge will benefit from that in the short term.
I’d be keeping an eye on Jason Ryles and how he fairs replacing Fitzy at the Roosters.

I don’t think I’ve been ever less interested in a tigers game than today, normally my veins would be pumping, today just feels meh

I think the storm game officially broke me . Not really expecting much but I think they will put in. Whether that’s enough to keep within 20 of souffs we’ll see

Reasons .....or excuses

I think Madge would be a bit worried. Which Tigers side is turning up today. Another flogging and Madge will be all the talk for the week.

But in the same conversation he said we had learnt a lot from that loss ........wonder if he learnt what many of our fans already know ??

Going by team selections i don't think he has.

Not right now, no. But we are getting the framework in place to enable that possibility.

And Ryles would not be available until end of 24. Isn’t that the same time Madge is off contract?
Mentor ship under Bellamy + 3 upcoming years under Robinson.

I think if souths don't rest origin players we are going to get pumped.

Our draw after today is:
Broncos
Manly
Warriors
Dogs
Cowboys
Sharks

If we don't win 4 of them I think it is time for Madge to fall on his sword

All south’s origin players are named to play

Our saving grace is we normally always give them a tough game no matter how high they are on the ladder, but I can’t help but think Latrell and Cook will run rings around us today on a dry track

I think the flogging Melbourne gave the Rorters this week puts our performance into some perspective.

Like everyone, I was truly gutted by the inept defence at the beginning and throughout the match but even though the rorters started out OK the end result was the same.

There are two teams really in this comp and they are light years ahead of any team coming 5th - 16th. Sacking Madge at this stage will do nothing but add to the instability, toxic mix, no-one wants to go there belief instilled by journos (and the club itself) over the last 12 years. Need to hold firm and create a platform for growth in the future (somehow).

The chooks team at full strength was nowhere near what they rolled out and with Teddy carrying a injury, they were Neville no chance. Yet the 17 we rolled out was not far from our best. I think looking at the next few years, I would rather the chances of the Chooks over our mob

Yeah I think that was the point of Sunday origin games . Players will miss minimal club games that way, they’ve basically had a week to freshen up and ready to go

Pretty sure he does Happy but how is he supposed to put it?
Feedback usually requires a positivity sandwich for the young uns these days. And he has been portrayed as a too-straight-forward person; maybe he is trying to accommodate more? Personally, I'd rather he be what he is by nature. People smell a rat and insincerity a mile away. Best off being yourself.

No argument there. Troubl id sthey wouldn't come because it might be harder work than what they already do. Look at how Bennett abandoned the Knights when he smelt the poo storm coming.
