LIVE GAME Round 21 vs. Warriors

Live Game Discussion
I'd love to be positive but we're a mile off of other teams. We get absolutely dominated in our hit-ups and are so weak in defense. We just can't contain teams at all or build momentum because even when the opposition starts on their goalline they're getting back to the 50. You can hold on long enough and throw the ball around a bit to try to get a few tries, but you're basically running up hill for 80 minutes and you're going to get tired and be worn down and lose if you can't tackle.

To me it's not personnel, it's fitness, technique and coaching. Things like when our 3rd defender joins the tackle they often join from behind the runner and push them forward helping them get to the ground for a quick play the ball rather than joining in front of them and aiming to hold the player up as long as possible. It's like we don't know the whole point of tackling these days is to keep the player upright and then on their back as long as possible.

Then in attack you see Stef lugging it up with no strategy and despite his size he gets put on his back and knocked about. He always seems to pick bad angles or target the wrong defender. Sure he usually hits it up with no momentum, but even when he has it hell usually finish on his back.

It's just that every other team is better at the strategy of the game than us.

I'm going against the grain here but it's not as bad as most think..

Considering the amount of possession in the first half I think the guys really put in an effort and could have easily just dropped head and gave up.

We had no one on the bench at the end part of the game and these kids just keep on trying.

Latu will only get better with time as he only 19 can defend quite well.
Samual F, Seyfarth, Porter just never give up and do a lot of the 1% no one sees..

NOW ... Once we add a few more quality forwards (replace our current pea hearted ones) and a few backs we will be a lot more competitive.

I know it's hard losing but I am convinced we will be a lot better next year with Laui running this show with Api.

Let's give Richo the off season as he knows what is needed.
Who are these quality forwards we will acquire?
Bullshit to 2025.
If we play our cards right, 2026 is the year we finally have a decent year. There is too much upheaval and the kids are too raw for next year to work.

It isn't worth discussing at all because the post is clueless. To sat Luai won't be the halfback is ridiculous
Mate I’ve proven you wrong all afternoon and even still am recently with your dumb 4 teams crack. You are chasing it big time but have no ammo.
Go find someone or something to play with. We’re talking footy here.

My statement was our players are terrible and we need to move them on and get better players of we want to compete.

Which part of that do you disagree with? Or do you think ours boys are in contention for origin next season? 🤣🤣
The part I highlighted. I thought that was evident.

Luai won't be halfback, I'd laugh is it wasn't so embarrassing

Your statement was that the Laulilii's and Mason are 'highly unlikely' to make it as first graders.

A completely baseless and take.

Benji is out of his depth big time

If Bennet / flanno had this squad it would be on the same points as the dragons and dolphins coming equal 8th

We suck bc our coaches are rookies who don’t even want to coach

“ play what you see”

“ family first “

“ I’m coaching bc it gives me purpose but if it get fired I’ll go back to media”

lol

What a joke

Spot on!!!

Change his diet, get him on the weights, and move him to lock. He will excell there. He could be great there. One of the greats even.
I saw a post that suggested Galvin at fullback.. the more I thought about it the more it made sense to me.. he has the ability to be an absolute superstar Fullback ,,fitness, ball skills, defence line organise , vision , high ball , … modern day fullback and he if coached and mentored could be a superstar

He doesn’t run straight. His kick returns would be dogshit.

I can’t see Galvin’s game being suited to fullback at NRL level, but I do know he will have a much stronger more robust physique in 12-18 months time and that’s when you will see his game really go to another level when he has the confidence to physically dominate his opponents.
Having all 3 of Luai, Galvin and Latu Fainu on the field at the same time could be devastating for us and a nightmare for our opponents to deal with IF we get the right type of players around them.

As always, the real problem with our tackling is "Not going down and raising your shoulders up" when tackling. Do it subtly with hand grabbing motion and it wont be a shoulder charge. This can save try and meters. Watch Api do it.
You wonder why Api is leading our line break stats, well he uses the same technique during attack. Watch him duck tackles and learn why.
'Grabbing them with your hands motion' is for your wife when you want to kiss her. 💋 The attacker can twist and turn and spin to score trys because he obviously is not your wife (I might be wrong here).
Overall, our defense is the best all year this game. Well done to the boys for making a comeback 2nd half. Thanks Paps for the Meditation. You are leading by example. Good things to come next season. The bravest run was by Luke Laulilii. Wishing him a speedy recoveryﮩـﮩﮩ...٨ـ🫀ﮩ٨ـﮩ٨ـ⛑ﮩـﮩﮩ٨ـ🫀ﮩ٨ـﮩ٨....ـ. .......√√√√√
#Keep_Seyfart. He is the aggressor we need.

Galvin isn't a fullback.

I'm not convinced he's a lock, unless he's willing to play 3rd fiddle to Luai & Fainu.

I'm starting to think his future might actually be elsewhere. The ruckus about wanting to know his place in the team, wanting out etc...could be a player that knows Luai is going to be #1 and that other spot in the halves is against a player that has superior ability in Fainu.

Pre-emptive strike to secure a spot to hide the fear/concern they get overtaken within a year.

I think Galvin is a 2nd rower. But, if I'm honest- I'm not convinced he's a better option than Josh Schuster.

Its hard to put a pin on him what position he plays. Therefore he has class. Thats all I can conclude.
