LIVE GAME Round 25 vs Roosters

Live Game Discussion
Liked what Benji said in his presser, proud of the team and on the field 4 or 5 players are on train and trial contracts,
So true compared to rorters full of origin or international players
This is everything. The Roosters have been the form team of the comp and on paper should have wiped the floor with us. It was complete grit that got us the win still with our weaknesses and imperfect performances - but as a team today they walked tall.

Glad we got the win and the losing streak has ended as going into 27 on the back of possibly an 11 game losing streak would have had more pressure on the team.I thought the intent of our team to defend was enormous and showed that they can play well when they have great line speed and effort.

The pleasing thing for me was that the outside backs got the ball and had chances to draw and pass which lead to points or at the very least opportunities, The fact AD was missing is a big part and he needs to be playing where it is best for the team not himself or he can leave.

API was fantastic today and with Brailey next year he can reduce his minutes and be more effective through less fatigue as he was spent with 20 minutes to go. I know someone said he is lifeless in the press conferences but that would be due to being exhausted.

I hope we can finish the year strong with a win next week and Penrith resting a few can at least see a smaller defeat. Can’t help wondering what could have been if not for injury and a bit of depth.

Changes need to happen and a few more decent signing but we do have a nucleus of a good side when all fit, it is depth we need to improve on.

Finally whilst I thought we would be well beaten today I can’t stand the commentary on Fox just stating the Rooster played bad as the reason we won. We were the better side and played strong and turned up for a change and tackled and scrambled well all game. The classless Roosters coach makes it sweeter with no acknowledgement of his opponents and I hope they go out in straight sets in the finals.

Dont wanna be negative tonite mate but theres a touch of hollowness to me ...stoked they won and stuck it to the chooks tho

I am just happy that the boys have finally been able to get their heads out of that seemingly endless whirlpool of negativity consuming the club for at least a week.

To win a nail-biting match against the team coming second at near full strength, despite the added adversity of losing Twal with the sound of the whistle almost still lingering, should be a huge confidence boost. Hopefully they can maintain it against the Titans with the spectre of another spoon behind us.

Great effort today by the boys. I have to admit I didn’t think I’d see another win again this season, especially a win against the Chooks! I’m still in shock, tbh.

I would’ve been really pissed if we ended up losing that game scoring 5 tries to 4, thankfully Jock came through with a field goal after missing those 3 conversions!

I reckon the attitude of the classless Roosters coach is exactly the reason his team lost. They all thought we’d be pushovers and let’s face it we did too, but it’s alright for us to think that way, not so the actual opponents though, who expected a walk in the park and fell flat on their faces.

AD is a selfish flop.

Thank god he isn’t playing

Can’t wait until he has left the club

Another Robbie farah except not as influential on the score board.

Me me me.

Play 13 or go to another club. And stop thinking you’re the man. Unless AD had a Clive Churchill performance we don’t win, bc it all centers around him when he plays and unfortunate he doesn’t have enough of those games for us to make the 8.

I was at the game today. Some thoughts.

• Herbert threw the last pass for our first three tries. And two of them were beauties. Herbert is good enough for a spot in our top 30.

• Luai just stifles the attack, as opposed to Jock who digs in and creates space for his outside men. On Skelton’s second try it was interesting to see Jock cut Luai out and threw it straight to Herbert.

• Pole was excellent. He had a slow start to the year but his second part of the season has been excellent.

• we complain about Jocks goal kicking tonight but it worked in our favour in the end. If Jock had of kicked one more conversion the roosters would not have taken the penalty goal to go to 24 all. They would have been forced to go for the try and I’m not sure we could have held them out. We were giving up 60-70m per set at the end.

• API’s passing is problematic. Like really problematic. His minutes must be reduced next year. Which will mean Haywood or Brailey will have to be one of four interchange players and the swap out will take up 2 of 8 interchanges. Unless Brailey plays the first 25 before going back to lock.

• Seyfarth plays hard. There’s no good reason to be moving him on.

• Sam Fainu was limping very badly after full time. His right foot.

• Terrel May used great anticipation to get that last interception.

• API’s missed 20/40 I don’t mind. We were going nowhere and it was almost perfect. But, we had to spend three sets defending our line after that and we used so much energy that it almost cost us the game.

• we have no halves that are adequate in all facets of the game. They all have at least one aspect that they are really poor at. If we can get a genuine 7 I’d be happy to let Douhie go.
Lots of criticism of Api in that analysis is a bit harsh. I don’t think we win today without him.
