Round 3 Discussion *SPOILERS*

It is the refereeing that will determine whether this six again rule works imo.

Sutton definitely favored Parramatta last night, especially early. They will have to be watched astutely as they can return this to "The greatest game of all" OR they can turn it into an absolute "DUD"

Perenara, Klein, Badger, Cummins, Atkins and Sutton will especially need to get their "Fairness Metre" checked over the next few weeks. The others we do not know enough about.

Let's hope the rules work the way they were implemented to work.

Badger will struggle to do that from the sideline with a flag in his hand!!

Oh how I wish we could attend games

I've already told you Steve, you are loud enough, just yell from home and he will hear you!

The fact that Junior Paulo played 60 minutes straight shows that players can keep up. The Broncos shot themselves in the food with handling errors early on which were then compounded by a few penalties.
The stats show exactly why the Broncos ran out of puff in the end - 6 penalties to 1. The handling errors were surprisingly even.I think Melbourne will actually struggle.

I enjoyed the new rules and 6 to go - I can't remember seeing any block plays and the adlib, play as you see it football was outstanding and what people have been crying out for. There will continue to be blow outs as long as teams continue to push the refs. They will soon learn as the Broncos did that it won't work. Welcome back Rugby League

Junior Paulo would not have lasted 15 minutes if the possesion was as heavily weighted in the donkeys favour.Having a monopoly of the ball reduces a players workload considerably which is why he could put in longer minutes. As he usually does Sutton refereed one team only, he was as poor as ever.

You got that right, Sutton was applying the new rules well to the Bronco's, but he let parra play under the old rules

First 20 was good but after that the Broncos were too gased to get back into it, and it became a mistakathon . Only one game in - but with the amount of posession the Eels had, that game should have blown out further. The six again rule will end the game for some teams in the first half if the ref sees one team continually offending - and a tired team is renowned for being penalised more, apart from also making more errors.

As many have said in this thread, under these new rules this is made for Benji, we all need to pray our aging five eighth can go the distance, if so we will make the 8, if not we might need a rethink on the run

100% mate, I really hope he can. I'd love one last season of Benji magic

Not sure if it’s made for Benji but definitely the rules are a good fit for Brooks, a running half. If Brooks doesn’t kill it this year he never will.

Broncos looked terrible, they barely tested the eels. New rules worked well for now hopefully that favours us, interested to see how Melbourne take advantage of it.

They will be lucky to get the ball the way they wrestle through a game.

They’ll figure out a way. They managed to wrestle without giving away many penalties before so I’m sure they’ll be able to do it with the ref 10 metres away

They managed to not give away many penalties because they are a protected species. Hopefully those days will be over but probably not, the NRL need a successful team in AFL heartland at any cost.

Many have said (everywhere not just forum) that in regards to NRL leadership and referees in particular, it wouldn’t matter what they did we’d still be critical. Well folks I have heard nothing but praise for our game all day. Only early I know but indications are that good work will be well received. The game has been ruled by a moron who didn’t have the ability to make and/or stick to necessary changes. That has changed. Our new leadership is bold and courageous and we, the fans, love the results. The refereeing last night was not perfect - never will be, but it did not interfere with the game nor did it manage the game through achievement of dot point key indicators. He just reffed what he saw. God I hope this continues. I’ve said many many times I’m rusted in and a mad supporter but I’ve also been frustrated beyond belief at the ineptitude of admin and refereeing. Last night I hit the sack a happy man.

He’s had two good years. Hopefully he will have an even better one this year we missed him the first two games

Sad but true Mike, no more potential, it's delivery day, and I hope the parcel didn't get lost in the covid-19 confusion and arrives tomorrow

What @Tiger_Steve said.

Moylan apparently gonna be playing fullback for sharks tomorrow. Would honestly prefer he plays instead of Kennedy, injury prone and can’t tackle

As a spectator watching the game last night, there were a few 6 again calls that just lost me
I have always been able to call a foul play or penalty before the referee blew his whistle
But not last night
I hope the refs don't get to pedantic with these calls
The contest seemed a little lopsided last night
The 6 again calls appeared to gas the defending team
Maybe that's the idea
Maybe the referee should call the players name or number so we know who committed the offense otherwise we are left guessing
Just my opinion off course

Not a bad idea. Keep the refs honest at least.

Yes, we missed him a lot!! Lets hope our forwards do their job and give the boys room to run, because if they don't and the Sharks forwards do, Johnson will cut loose.

Footy was so scripted and managed because of the wrestle and over officiating. What we just saw was the rebirth of a great game. I didn’t even notice Sutton.

I think there is room for improvement still as well, id be calling 6 again on any nonsense on the ground. There was still a but there.

True but not nearly as much

I think the Broncos might struggle

Anyone without a mobile pack is going to struggle big time.

spot on mate, can we get the 2005 forward pack back?

It will be interesting to see how our young pack goes. I suspect they will be better than most.

The lighter bench for this weekend looks better now.

Stefano and Blore for 2021 though? Both big units.

Off season next year may see them leaner next year. but as someone already mentioned JP was one of parras best playing 60min straight.
Personally I think broncos were just under done last night.excuses of rule change is a cop out imo.

@tiger_steve; you need to speak for yourself mate. "Our new leadership is bold and courageous and we, the fans, love the results"

"The" (not "our") NRL leadership of PVL is autocratic, divisive, blinkered and shambolic. I am a fan, and I don't "love" the results.

Ok - IMO and the opinion of everyone I’ve spoken to or listened to today. Except you, which is fine.
