There will be a utility player on the bench and we have a truck load of them on our books, but Iam tipping Walters will get the nod. I doubt they would carry Walters and MCK, so Iam guessing Lawrence might get a run off the bench along with Musgrove and big Tom. 1 thru 13 is pretty inked in except maybe the 2 and 5

Does Benji's attack out weigh his defensive issues .....I'm serious abouting playing him in the 14 jersey

1 Thompson
6 Douehi
7 Brooks
9 Grant
14 Marshall

Benji on the bench means Thompson at fullback which is a big negative. Would prefer Doueihi there and Benji starting, sure his defence is bad but our spine overall is much stronger that way especially in attack.

Defence with the new rules is going to be so important

I just can't see our edges holding up if we lose the ruck and the middle collapses ...especially if we are continually giving up extra sets of six to bigger stronger teams

And the bigger issue will be teams could get the ball for 5,6 or even 7 minutes straight ...doesn't that scare every WT's supporter

Our defence will not be that great either way. Thompson was dreadful at the back in a position that’s one of the most important in modern footy. Think the better thing to do is find a way to hide Benji in defence a little bit instead of weakening our entire spine. Hopefully Doueihi can organise the defensive line as Cory struggled with that big time as well.

Quicker teams will just stretch us until we snap ...bigger sides ....

Honestly think the new rule changes hurt us more than any other club

If the game speeds up as is expected ..take Brooks and to a lesser extent Grant we are the slowest side in the comp

Strength / size wise we are in the bottom half of the comp ...speed wise we are in the bottom three at best

Madge will be very nervous I'd reckon

So how will we benefit under the new rules ...what strengths of the WT's will come to the fore under the new rules ??

Behind the Dragons WT concede the 2nd least ruck penalties in the comp..you what to know who concedes the most..?

Means jack , oppositions probably score before we get a chance to wrestle ...did you see we are equal 14th in points conceded

Defence has been made even more crucial under the current rules

Not as if we played any league powerhouses in those games either

Aren't the new rules designed to cut back on the wrestle?

How is that a disadvantage to us?

We gotta fix those edge defences

I want to work out how to play Benji off the bench

One of the most experienced halves in the comp, one of our most experienced players in arguably the best form of his career and you want to put him on the bench?
Are you ok?

Especially when we have a guy like Walters who can play 9 as well as in the halves and I'm sure would also handle playing centre, who would be ideal as a 14.

Benji is our 6 as long as he keeps playing how he has been

Does that include 13 missed tackles in the 1st 2 rounds

The 2005 Marshall yeah OK he could create more points than he was conceding defensively ...2020 version won't .....I'd rather a better defensive side with Marshall coming on in short bursts to create havoc on tired defences

OK so it makes your initial defensive players contact crucial ....meaning that you need less players in tackles and being more effective in tackles and faster at being effective in tackles

2nd the ruck speed will increase , adding more pressure to your line speed and your middle and edge defence ...meaning less time to make defensive decisions

We are bad in all these areas currently ....you take more time away from these guys and things will get worse

And then lets change and look at our attack , it will have the added pressure of our defence not keeping teams to under 24 points ...apart from Brooks we lack speed to create room for others around us ...Grant is still a work in progress ...our outside backs aren't quick ...we don't have blokes who can punch holes in opposition sides consistently

The game is going to get some really horrible scorelines ( not just for us , many of the bottom 6 sides ) 30-50 point blow outs will become the norm

Certainly would work, but the coach has already said Douehi is a shoe in for the no1 role. JT was a defensive liability for a long time, but the Cowboys had a defensive structure that looked after him. We need to do the same for Benji or try another option at 6

Madge did mention changing how he does stuff at training after the Knights game. I have a feeling that will involve that right side defence

It’s only very briefly mentioned in this interview, I’m only assuming what he was talking about but it could be anything.

Definitely gonna be changes at training after our last performance though

spot on supercoach thurston defence for years was ordinary and they had the forwards to cover

Comparing Luciano to Gavin Cooper ....Cooper is far more mobile and a far better reader of a game

Toni Carroll should be an immortal...the amount of tackling he did for Locky..

Defence is of course the issue...always has been...it improved last year for the most part..lets see how it goes this year before the sky falls in...you can't base it on one terrible performance in the last game..they are capable..

If it doesn't we can just sack the coach and start the next 10 year cycle anew..

Dont even joke about that some moron on the board may read it and act upon it.They have already shown some are not to be trusted and only think of themselves

The defence wasn't much better Rd 1 .....the opposition couldn't grasp their chances

I think if our guys can learn to put on some big hits early, and time it so the attacking player gets smashed just as they catch the ball, it will make them think twice about running onto the ball hard. That will bring out mistakes.
We haven't been able to do this for many years
We need to learn to apply pressure and to keep it on at all times
Players like Aloiai, Mikaele and Packer are all capable of big hits
Hopefully Musgrove, Garner and the two Leilua's can also learn to hit hard
We need to toughen up and start making a statement in defence
Its time other teams took notice of our defence for being like a steel wall
Not steel wool

Early plea to what ...did he kick Madge's dog ??

not sure

it just says this

Wests Tigers forward Luciano Leilua had been charged earlier by the Match Review Committee following his side's Round 2 defeat to Newcastle, but is also free to play in Round 3 against Cronulla after taking the early guilty plea.
