LIVE GAME Round 5 versus Eels

Live Game Discussion
I was at the game and it was a great atmosphere. Gutsy and gritty win, but probably best not to get lost in the spectacle that was that game.

No matter which way you look at it, we let in 5-tries and the only reason we weren't punished for it was because Parramatta can't covert. We cannot be playing catch-up against the better teams this season as we will be punished much more harshly for it given our attack is quite rocks-and-diamonds at times.

I thought the sin bin was a really rough call. Ref caved into the noise from the members section and the little bit of WWE from a few players that came in to give their 2-cents. From my seats at the game Moses had probably approached the ref, and touched him at least half-dozen times up until that point.

I can't deny the sin bin played a role in us leaking points. Though, the top teams seem to be a lot more adaptable when down a player. We got the win today but feel like a better team that wasn't as hurt would have punished us a lot more for that lack of adaptability. It wasn't even a matter of outplaying on the edge, it was simply just going there that caused us to leak those points.

Personally, I thought May was a bit of a momentum killer in our attack compared to our other front rowers. Great post-contact meters from him but I consider his ball-playing ability a step under what Twal, and Samuela have been producing lately. He also had a considerably slower PTB overall. Defensively he he was pretty great today.

Not sure how much long Turuva can play at centre. I am not a big fan of him at centre. He holds the ball way too long and lacks a lot of athleticism and depth compared to other centres in game today. I think once Taylan is back we will be a completely different team.
Don’t forget it was twice with twelve men.. and Luke had a hand as well before being shown the 10 minutes.

So how come Galvin two hipdrop tackles no suspensions, and about 4 other players let off, But, again the Westtiger curse is at work, our winger gets 10 in the bin, and 1 week suspension, and Api faces possible 2 weeks suspension,

THE JOKE CONTINUES.
Not sure what you're issue here is? Api hasn't got a suspension, the 2 weeks is only if he challenges the ruling and loses. That is the same as Galvin. This was also actually Apis 3rd offence within 12months. That loading is why the fine is 3K, not the $750? First offence price and why he would get 2 weeks, not 1 for an unsuccessful challenge.

If you think my previous comment was saying what Api received, it was not. It is what I thought he would receive. Apologies if it was misleading, someone asked what do we think he gets.

As for differences between Galvins punishment and say Kenny or Couchman or anyone else who apparently has been 'let off'. Well different hip drops have different gradings (just as different high tackles do or any other foul play). Both of Galvins have been deemed Grade 1 as Apis were.

I thought Apis looked a grade 2 given he lost his feet and first contact was onto the ankle of the Eels player. The force was low to moderate so similar to Kenny but not as severe as Couchman a couple weeks ago. From memory (I haven't gone back to check) Galvins feet drag along the ground and some of his body weight is taken by the ground before contact with the leg. Hence why it was a Grade 1. The NRL has also told us the resulted injury does impact the grading (rightly or wrongly can be debated but that is the way it is adjudicated).
I think Api is lucky to receive Grade 1 and to not be missing a game. Probably the fact there was no significant injury has saved him.

As for Laulii. Well I don't believe it should be a suspension (or even a charge) but again the significance of the injury has likely played a huge part in the outcome.

Taylan back, Maka to the wing and Luke to Reggie's. That's a better backline.

How many times did AD just have to pass and we score. He is a centre and he needs to get the ball 2 passes wide. He had turuva unmarked and goes for the hero play every time
That's part of his game I don't like.

I like Adam's odd dummy & run like he did with great effect against the Wahs, but he can be a ball hog at times.

Sometimes it pays off, but Benji mentioned a few tries went begging, he's almost certainly talking about not throwing the pass to an unmarked man out wide & where Turuva should have fell over the line.

Maybe he doesn't trust the young guys? They do have the odd mistake or two, but usually in defence reads.

Have Sam Fainu & KPP been the best back row pairing in the comp this year? they’ve both been unreal. Samuelas been instrumental in all of our wins. These little effort plays he’s added into his game are legit saving games for us & he’s coming up with them week in week out.

Horrible game to watch. Great that we won but I didn’t enjoy much after the 2nd half. I thought we bottled it at one point. Rugby league turns me into a screaming lunatic.

Our forwards are just incredible.

AD had an average game. Playing at 7 moderates his playing style in a good way. I think he was trying to be Luai out there today and just ended up trying too hard.

Our back line play still looks really clunky. Some really average execution at times. But we are missing halves and centres. Still want so much more from Bula in possession.

Bring on the Knights in Campbelltown.
