Anyway as you all know it is Anzac Day on Monday and access to the service records of family members is free online. So the ex in-laws knowing I'm an ex serviceman ask me to look up a family member from WW1. The family are obscenely fighting over his campaign medals. So I find his records and closely examine his record. Seems he is more trouble to the Army than he is worth. Yes he was gassed, but went AWL many times, punished and anyway got the clap! Yes there is a Syphilis record! which as a big no no then. I haven't and won't tell the family.

Moral is not every veteran can be a hero. A good laugh was had today.
