Referee was poor, their first try, Willison was tackled & the last pass was forward. Api's arm grab late not a penalty. Luai was clearly stripped by Staggs... In saying that, we shouldn't have burnt our challenge. All minor things. Can't blame that but in a 1 point loss they make a difference.

Unfortunately Benji's game plan to put both Latu & Madden on at the end was to try take advantage around the ruck with no Haas or Carrigan. We tried to play through them. Then when that didn't work we tried to go around them. Stagg's defence was exceptional. Should have set up to level with a field goal.

Poor Makasini, but you can get that from an 18yo.

All in all, hard loss to have but a good reality check.

Interesting what Benji does on the short turn around.

Yes that’s true but this uber chaotic flick it around and hit hope stuff will wear thin soon.
Need to actually train some structure into our attack. We just don’t take enough of our chances.

They did run shape tonight, but it was defended well by their edges and their scramble, Staggs was brutal at times, but Taylan let him know he was in a battle, we are at our best with our second phase play.. Jesus, we played the premiers and they scored 3tries against the run of play… I really cannot believe the rabid doomsdayers on here bagging the whole team ..we lost by a field goal… against the broncos ,, Reynolds was the difference

No. Taylan May ran straight at Reynolds and knocked him over. Every small man is looking for a reason to get knocked over in the defensive red zone. May had to be smarter in that situation.

So many fans on here quick to get back to being negative. Broncos got lucky tonight. We beat any other team tonight...

How did they get lucky? From what I saw they toughed it out, weathered our attack and counter punched, taking their opportunities until they won.

Reynolds showed all 4 of our halves how it’s done. He said at halftime and at full time that his team played poorly, yet he injected himself into the game at the right times to secure the win. I don’t think we’ve ever had a half who could do that. I’m not convinced any of our halves would have thought about the 1 pointer when still 9 minutes out from full time. They just don’t think tactically enough and it’s likely because their coach didn’t either when he played.

As for the silly claim that we would have beat every other team in the comp tonight…don’t start that crap. We weren’t playing anyone else.

A proper halfback. Like Madden. Who knew having 2 5/8ths might make it harder to organise the team.

I know this wouldn't change a thing. We lost coz of dumb errors and they were good at taking advantage of it. Anyway, with so many six agains against the donkeys - how come no one was sent to the bin? And I noticed in the second half there was hardly any six agains for us. Weird as.

You could see Reynolds question the ref after a flurry of 6 agains were called against them. The ref seemed very direct with him that they were justified, but maybe that call out by Reynolds did affect his judgement going forward from that point.

Hate to be harsh, but it was a bit embarrassing of us to lose that one. With 3 mins to go, kicking a field goal should have been priority. Especially after Reynolds kicked one with 10 mins or so to go

I didn’t mind the decision to go for the try at the end instead of setting up for a field goal. Go for the win. The Broncos would have known the FG was coming and those are hard to get.

It was the inability to set up the outside backs, look what Mann was doing, very dangerous.

Luai didnt have any of that tonight and often doesnt.

I did not mention anything about relying on them. I just thought why did it stop when you see the donkeys kept at it with slowing the play and no calls. Again it's just an observation. We lost and I hope we learn from it.

Jarome Luai is such a good player, worth $1.2 million a season. The way our attack just completely disappeared his first game back is merely coincidence. The hopping then changing directions side to side completely killing any momentum in our attack for the last 2 years is behind him. Getting to equal 1st on the ladder had nothing to do with Jock Madden. Jarome Luai is a better player than Jock Madden and is worth $1.2 million a season. He told Benji he's okay to play reserve grade because he has full confidence that he's a better player than Jock Madden. The way our attack lost all of its shape is a coincidence, unlucky loss against half a reserve grade side. Let's blame Makasini for this loss.
