That was the winger - went in for no reason. Likely didn't want to stand between Sivo and the line. It's hard to believe Esan is an international. He looks slow and overweight.

The nudge Friend gave him wouldn't have been powerful enough to knock a kitten over but somehow a 100+ kg bloke who regularly cannot be knocked down by 2 or 3 defenders gets blown down like he has been shot in the guts with a rifle. It was milked nicely and got the desired result. Sucks to see contests decided by gamesmanship/milking whatever.

As close to a pro foul as you could d get..probably shoulda been binned.

You don't reckon players should be forced to get to their feet before playing the ball though? Not just in this instance but in the NRL in general. The PTB's are an absolute mess as far as abiding by the rules of playing the ball goes. It needs to be cleaned up and refereed strictly to prevent a game being absolutely gift-wrapped to a team when the penalty could've easily gone either way.

If course I do but in this instance I also feel the shove contributed to him having the ball on the ground before he could get to his feet.... If we slowed everything down and scrutinised everything with a microscope you'd probably find you could award several penalties every play every game

I agree with ink. Clear-cut penalty, there can't be any complaints.

It was not a 6-again call, because it caused a break-down in play (lost ball) and it was a professional foul, because it was performed with intent to stop a scoring opportunity. Friend knew it as soon as he pushed the guy.

Finucane got to one foot before he placed the ball down, and only the push prevented his other leg being lifted.

Finucane never got to his feet at all before he put the ball on the ground.
Which game of ours this year was it when Thompson/Nofoaluma? got pinged at a critical time for not getting to their feet? It wasn't even as blatant as last nights one. Certain teams will get the continued rub of the green where others most definitely do not. Even skidmark Bellamy conceded "we might have got a bit lucky at the end" in his press conference.
Storm seem to get quite a few games gifted to them on the back of a penalty right in front to end the contest. Last night, last year vs Knights.....
Question for someone statistically minded out there: can anyone recall WT ever getting a game gifted to us with a game-sealing penalty? In our 20 years I cannot even recall a single one.

Canberra game in golden point back in the late 2000's we were lucky to get a penalty ...

I recall a penalty to us to win the game against Cronulla a few years ago also. Don’t ask me when, my memory is not that good, but I do remember Cronulla spewing about it - it was fun ?
