OFFICIAL Royce Hunt #298

My nephew was playing U/20's at Manly when George Rose was there. In gym sessions, you had to do a certain number of reps to complete the workout with 20 as the mark for chinups. My nephew could do 20 reps in one set. Poor old George could only just get 1. Nephew reckons he'd be in the gym all night trying to hit his numbers.

Might explain why George Rose said that he “never really fitted in “ during his one season wih Bellamy and the Storm…

Having said that .,he won a premiership at Manly 👍

this bloke is one of the worst signings in the last few years, unfit and has no motor, an absolute dud
Thankfully May landed in the clubs lap
Ok I was kinda wondering why the hype around Hunt, when less hype was around Terrell May..
When I saw May's stats, I was like sign him up.... Then I realised we lost 4 front rowers and like OMG...

Hunt though, was an impact player. Play him from the bench for 15 minutes and he would make an impact. number 14 or 15. That kind of player not a starting Prop.

Craig F at the sharks would know Props and forwards way better then Marshall. Him letting Hunt go says volumes and the fact that Hunt is slacking off and loosing fitness says a lot against Hunt, but...

Our team has suffered a general lack of fitness and hardening. We have improved this year, but in general we are still behind the other teams. Someone like Hunt, who has a stack of potential but appears to slack off if not motivated doesn't work.

I can't fault Hunt for us not having a frontrow. We went so light into 2025 and were really lucky we got May. I get it now that Klemmer wasn't the right fit for what Marshall was building, Ironically Blore is that right fit, but we were not going to hold him in hiring Klemmer.

We need a frontrow. Hunt is letting us down as a bench forward wrecking ball but were playing him like a starting forward.

Hunt reminds me of George Rose and Andrew Fatfita….no desire to get fit….
And they both wore premiereship rings.
Fifita was an absolute beast for most of his career.
Rose was a wrecking ball that added a physical element in a tough line.

Likewise Kasiano and others. Absolute beasts if used as wrecking balls to break the attacking line and make space. Put them as starting props doing massive minutes and it's often wasted, although Josh P at Canberra does damn well.

Weird?
You just basically said hes not doing his job...at least his last outing in firsts he didnt.
Maybe the fractured ribs thing is true and they thought he could start a game (ie: play the game in an even tougher more arduous fashion than what hes used to coming off the bench) but his ribs were too painful
Sounds a bit suss to me ...dont recall many playing with fractured ribs.
Ive had this too and couldnt imagine being tackled by an NRL first grade forward when the slightest cough, laugh or deep breath is excruciating
I don’t think it’s far fetched, with it being reported a number of players over the last few seasons have been playing through injury and having to manage the pain with injections.
He missed the eels game, I assume due to the issue. He should’ve been rested a few weeks to heal and sent to Magpies for match fitness. Like I said, we didn’t think much of it at the time he played that week against sharks so it was a nothing moment until dropped out of team.

Still hard to fathom why they let him walk. Damaging on his day and great hands.
It was incredibly stupid to let the twins go. Andrew was also incredibly disliked. Not the best personality to be around.

Its well documented at the time Sheens thought Groat to be a better prospect over Andrew and David. Out of the zillions of dumb decisions in the Tigers history, this ranks high. Woods was already firing in 2011 and Groat was the next thing coming through after Big Red and Gibbs. Mind you, Sheens also thought Brooks (a junior 5/8) was a halfback and Fitzhenry was a first grader. Some people just get lucky to coach a stacked team like Canberra in the early 90s and then build a 20 year coaching career off the back of that. Almost like someone building an entire career off 1 flick pass in a GF🤷‍♂️

Hey hey hey - nothing wrong with Fitzy - he won us a comp, scored 4 tries across 5 finals games, played 140 nrl games. The rest I'll accept but he was absolutely a first grader and a Wests Tigers Life Member

I knew a few around the club at that time and everyone was of the same opinion that Fafita was poison. He was the whole May family rolled into one. They had no choice but to punt him. I'm not sure Tim thought Groat was a better prospect, I just don't think he had any choice.

To Winston - lay off @Sheensy and he will lay off his one true love, Wests Bloody Tigers.

Groat was a decent enough prospect at the time but having Blair as his comedy duo was the GOATED f^?k up. Andrew worked under noted man mgrs.

I never understand the shade Fitzy gets on here, particularly when you consider the multitude of players before and since that were much, much, much worse.
