Ruck spoiling

I thought Canberra's deliberate plan to spoil the ruck all game was disgraceful and typical Ricky Stuart tactics as he knows he can't coach.
The way Sutton allowed it until just 12 minutes to go is also typical of all these pathetic referees who are scared of the biggest sook in the games history, sticky Ricky, what a dog he is.

Totally agree, he could have put another couple in the bin earlier. I noticed Tapine pushing heads into the ground regularly, I’ve seen that penalised before.
The ruck area was a shambles but once again we failed for most of the game in the 20. Only got warm when they were down to 12 men.
Just don’t seem to be able to complete from close range.

He’s a weak gutted dog person.

Well said!! the refereeing was maddening!! I cant believe they let them lay all over us all day!! It took 70 mins and the game was pretty much over! And Brooksie getting knocked over and all the knock backs which were somehow forward, several head highs......honestly we werent given a fair chance to win that!!

I hate to be that guy but we got bent over and rammed!!

It was cynical garbage from Stuart - but Sutton also got a license to manipulate the result when we lost that early challenge.....

How the video refs saw a rake from Stef makes me think the Sutton's still have a lot of pull within the refereeing ranks!!

You are always more likely to get a call when your team has momentum. For the first 70 minutes we had no hard runners
Yes they did get away with a lot though

How's the Ricky presser: "OK we laid on them a bit, but no way were they clean. OK so maybe we deserved 8 6-agains, but no way they should have had zero".

In other words: "I am surprised we got away with it as long as we did" and then almost lost the match as a result.

I deliberately didn't watch Ricky's presser, I was worried I'd get too worked up.

Sounds like he basically admitted that tactic. There is just no karma in Rugby League. It would have been so good if it ended up being that tactic that cost him the win with that 10 minute period killing them off.

We bombed it, we had enough breaks and no support. We had enough ball and completed worse than them, and we went too sideways at times despite making huge metres. We also gave them so much time to reset their line by getting up slowly and having a sook to the ref before playing the ball. Ok once of twice but To'a alone did it a bunch of times.

The refs stuffed up the Stefano strip, and should have had one in the bin earlier. I think they missed a push in the back on the second Fogarty try but Talau was there and should have done better.

In the end Canberra came with a game plan and made the most of a busted squad, we lost. The game would have been fine and easy to cop if they hadn't shit the bed to start the season. Unfortunately that just about stuffed us. Jumping up and down won't change anything, we have to be better.

No hard runners? We were the only team making breaks even though our play the balls were 2 seconds slower each time. We were brutally tough and resilient all game.
100%. 7 line breaks to 0 someone must have been running straight??

Ive never seen a game where one team flagrantly lied over us in EVERY tackle!! It was relentless and never ending!! And while Im waxing someone needs to explain to Sutton the difference between a knock on and a knock back we legit got murdered there as well!!

Apart from the last 10 I can’t remember during the game anyone winding up for a run

We had no momentum because of the cheating tactics and poor refereeing, but still matched their forwards. I thought all the boys ran hard all day. When you have momentum I believe those similar runs look like the player is "winding up" like you describe. IMO with no ruck speed it doesn't create that illusion, but they still ran hard. They had to. To hold the middle tight under those circumstances is impossible unless you are running hard and tackling hard. It was a phenomenal effort to not concede one line break, and I put that down to our forwards fighting like animals all 80 minutes. Just how I saw it mate.

I agree we bombed it too. We created so much but just kept coming up with the wrong pass, or a dropped ball after a break. I certainly acknowledge that, my issue is, with a strong ref, we actually create twice as many opportunities because he would have cleaned the ruck up, then we win easy. And I mean easy. We are twice as good as Canberra.

The Warriors v Panthers (Warriors got shocking calls against them) was the worse ref performance of the year but this was a close 2nd.

Brooks pushed out of the way for the try
Several face in the ground pushes, arms over the head and flops on the roll. The 10mtrs was 7mtrs. Every ball dropped for us ruled forward (some clearly went back), the Stef strip was garbage etc.

In saying that we just didn’t play smart, when we made a break it was all or nothing & we didn’t ice our chances.

I’m more referring to the speed in which they make post contact meters when this happens defenders have less chance of slowing the play the ball
They had all the time in the world to position themselves during the tackle to slow it down

You think they ran harder than us? Average meters per set says we did. The eye test says it was even. They here not dominant in that area I didn’t think.
