Worked and was great friends with Rod Smith ( no 8) for 30 years. Sadly passed away a couple of years back way to early. Kept me amused for years telling me Magpie stories and the things they got up to
As a teenager/young adult i used to lodge one of those every week,I would have at least one win a season and so i was a happy chap
I've got 5 players in this photo who played for both Wests and Balmain. Is that correct?

That looks right. Boland, Cox,Wigham,Knight and Mountier. I think wests had a Mark Bevan in the 80s , not sure if that's the same guy in the pic

It's the same Mark Beaven... and bro Paul both played for Wests & Balmain
I had Beaven in but totally forgot Wayne Wigham had played a season with Wests. His final season as it turned out. Top centre at his peak.

Used to have a run selling these around my local area as a kid. Tommy Raudonikis had something to do with the operation, used to meet him at the end of year "party". Not sure of the kickback the old man got for running his little part of the operation but I used to get get a $1 to pick my teams each week for doing the distribution and a footy/jumper etc at the end of season function.

Wayne was my mate Rod’s brother , Wayne is also a top guy. His daughter is married to Joel Cain
I loved watching Wayne back in the day.

Some decent boxers in that line up.
Blyth, Rowles Goodwin and of course Ribot were all at the maggies 1 year later.
How good was Goodwin with us in 80. Probably cost us the tittle getting suspended twice during second round into finals.
And of course Ryan's 1st year as 1st grade coach after taking the Wests U23 side to the GF a year earlier under Masters.
But bottom left John Ribot de Bresac. Detached, worldly and not seemingly very approachable........had a haughty look and didn't seem friendly when I asked his autograph as a kid when he won a player of the month award at Burwood Plaza in 80..............the rest is history as they say.
