Rugby league history

Dick Poole eldest living Kangaroo at the time of his demise , passed away aged 94. Debut for Newtown as an 18 yr old from 1950 -58. his last 4 yrs as Captain/Coach.
11 games for NSW 1954 - 57, Captained 56, 3-1 series win , 57 , captained 2 games in 4 -0 series win including a 69 - 5 win. Represented his country on 13 occasions. His greatest moment (?),coming as Cap/Coach in an undefeated World Cup ,4 nations competition 1957
ps Dick played 31 games1959/60 for the Wests Magpies.
 
Andrew Ettingshausen, Cronulla Sutherland fan fav of whom Jack Gibson once said was so fast he could turn off the light, and still be in bed before the light went out 🤣

What a player he was. He came from an era when Pommy halves and five eighths could really play and were hard as nails. Bishop, Millward, Hardisty, Topliss. The list was just about endless. Balmain did really well out of its English imports,,
And a lovely human. I worked with him in the early '90s and he was one of my favourite people ever. RIP Dave ❤️
