The National Rugby League, in conjunction with Tru Blu Entertainment and game developer Big Ant Studios, have today confirmed the latest title in the acclaimed Rugby League Live series is due to be released in 2017.

Rugby League Live 4 is currently in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC Steam.

Home Entertainment Suppliers Managing Director, Sebastian Giompaolo, was looking forward to fans enjoying the next iteration of one of the most entertaining Australian games on the market.

"Rugby League Live 4 continues to build on solid foundations with new features including custom Logo and Stadium Creation, and the most realistic NRL player likenesses ever featured in a game," said Mr Giompaolo.

"Big Ant Studios have taken the game to a whole new level, not just visually, but also with exciting gameplay and tactical improvements.

"A greater attention to the finer details and intricacies of the sport, along with precise refinements to the controls, and even more depth to the career mode, will help make this the best Rugby League video game to date."

NRL General Manager of Consumer Business Shaun McMartin recognised the value of video games and their influence at the grass roots of the sport itself.

"The Rugby League Live series of video games not only lets our fans interact and have fun with a great representation of the sport, but also helps increase attention and interest for the younger generations," Mr McMartin said.

"The NRL is pleased to be associated with the next great title, Rugby League Live 4."

Rugby League Live 4 is set for release in 2017.

Let's hope they finally make a decent version, every iteration has been pretty average.
If they release this at the end of the season like they have with most of the other versions, they are kidding themselves.

Gallen's head looks like it has been stampeded by a heard of buffalo…it's perfect!
They need to introduce a post-match option in the new game where you can decide to play as Bromwich or Proctor and hit the city to rack up, play as Mitch Pearce and "cuddle" domestic animals whilst soiling oneself or go a-stompin' as Russ Packer. That would make it much more realistic.

Didn't there used to be a member of this forum who was one of the developers for these games?
I think he was a Kiwi.

Ive played every game released.
Ranked top 100 on the past few in online ranked matches lol.

Will pre order this,
Looking forward to it

Does it feature a gameplay mode where you are the CEO of a club that has unlimited TPAs and can steal the talent of every other club at will?

The games have been pretty disappointing so far. I was around 9 years old when I pre ordered RLL2, and boy was it average.

Hope this is good. I reckon all the games have sucked since rugby league 2

Rugby league 2 was awesome! I remember me and my brother spending so much time on that game, especially the franchise mode. Also, thats my team playing during the intro.

Franchise mode was so good! Being able to control your own roster and training program. I used to focus training on speed and agility so that when I played I would just carve up teams but got so many injuries lol not enough recovery sessions

Question (if anyone still reading this thread): How old is too old to play video games? Used to be a master at RL2 amongst other games but marriage and kids put that on hold. About to turn 40 and am feeling the itch.
My wife will say I'm immature…..
