Look I wish to put this question forward and its not meant to sound heartless as Liam is one of my favourite all time players
But seeing the NRL will be making the club not play Liam and have been caused in some cases by illegal tackles
Should they be offering us some salary cap exemptions if we could pick up a replacement before June 30

Maybe ..it's a good question though happy . It might be up to the club to ask for some sort of salary cap compensation ?
If these concussions end Liam's career ( god I hope not) would the NRL pay Liam's contract out or would the club have to pay him out ?

Not sure how accurate he is & if Mayer responded or not but the Mole on twitter mention something about it earlier in the week. Mayer is usually pretty quick to rightfully shoot down any BS so I would be curious to know if he's said anything or not.

Personally I don't see this as heartless in any respect; it's a perfectly salient question (I agree with) and an excellent one.
I alluded to this on the previous 'time to go' thread that his career has (potentially) been ended by means illegal in the game and as such I think it is incumbent on the NRL, not the tigers to be his insurance.
People shouldn't have to be permanently incapacitated and unable to continue their job forever to be entitled to restitution IMO, and I think this could become somewhat of a landmark case unless Liam just accepts this fate.

A decision on the playing future of Wests Tigers forward Liam Fulton is expected to be made this week after the 29-year-old receives the results of extensive testing in Melbourne to determine the effects of repeated concussions this season.
Fulton has already decided to stand down from playing for the remainder of this season and his career is in doubt after failing to finish four of the six matches he has played due to concussion. He has been rested for the match following each incident, including the Tigers clash with Souths on June 13 after again being concussed in the previous weekend's 23-20 defeat of Newcastle.
Of most concern is the regularity with which Fulton has been concussed this season and the ease with which the latest concussion occured after minimal contact in a tackle by Knights prop David Fa'alogo. The long-serving Tigers utility underwent tests in Sydney after the incident and travelled to Melbourne last week for more extensive tests in a bid to decide whether he needs to hang up his boots or can resume playing next season.
The results of those tests are due back early this week and Fulton will then consult with medical experts, club officials and his family about his long-term playing future. Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement between the NRL and the Rugby League Players Association, Fulton is guaranteed to be paid for the remainder of his contract with the Tigers, which expires in 2016.
However, he would have to forego any plans to finish his career in Super League after enjoying a stint with Huddersfield in 2009\. The loss of Fulton would be a blow to the Tigers but coach Mick Potter and chief executive Grant Mayer have shown by the way they have handled the issue this season that their No.1 priority is his health and welfare. Fulton has said that he was not suffering any lingering effects from the latest concussion but his wife Stacey is understandably concerned.
Tigers officials have been in talks with the NRL about future career options for Fulton should he be forced into retirement. If that was to occur, Fulton could effectively become the poster boy for the NRL's strict new guidelines on concussion as there is little doubt he would have played on in previous seasons. The Tigers were fined $20,000, of which $10,000 was suspended, for not removing Fulton from the field for a concussion assessment in their round-five match against Manly, but unsuccessfully contested the NRL's decision.
Fulton has played 161 matches for the Tigers in two stints, from 2003 to 2008 and 2010 until now, and was a member of the club's 2005 premiership-winning team. He is also one of the most popular players in the NRL and is a renowned prankster off the field.

If Fulton is forced into retirement he won't be the only sportsmen this week forced into the retirement because of head knocks

We let this guy play after concussions and fined !!!!
I think it's well overdue that ALL players wear head gear , simple.
Family and health first Liam then begin your litigation against a club that treats players health with contempt.
Getting so disgusted with the club and how they are treating players before and after or even during games with their treating and asessing of injuries , we need the club to JUST DO THE RIGHT THING !!!!
Some might cry out " It's a business ! " and all that Liberal BS but we used to be a family and stuck solid and didn't cry , well F that aye , the club let Liam down , don't tell me he wanted to play Mayer , You AND Potter played him and are just as accountable if he is scrubbed out by the NRL and that's Fkn that.
I'm mad about it and I'm sorry but it has actually got me so angry I have lost all respect for this joint venture that I might never come back , Balmain born and bred since 67 and am over this club , goodbye.

If the medical staff cleared him to play then what's the problem. Once it was evident that it may be more severe he was stood down.
I have no problem with the way the club handled this, and think they were hard done by to be fined considering what other clubs have done in similar circumstances.

About 15 years ago (22 yo) I was playing in a rugby knockout (no pun intended) and during one game I felt a little strange. I came off sat on the side line had some water and then felt tingling in my fingertips then that's it no more footy ever except from the side line or in front of the tele. I suffered from Migraines for weeks after that day and still do occasionally today. A lasting impression I'd guess you'd say.
Sure footy wasn't my career or my livlihood but I did love playing it just like Liam! I'd have loved to have played again but it just didn't happen because the risk was too great.
Make the right choice please and I hope the Wests Tigers & NRL make this difficult decision easier by giving you options too ease you into early retirement.
Time to look back on your great Tigers career mate, and open the door to the next chapter in your life! I hope there is a place in the Tigers & RL Family for you for many years to come.
As old Kenny Rogers says "You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em,
Know when to walk away, know when to run."
