Rumour Marwan Koukash sets sights on Balmain

Just emptied my wallet , I have $26.85 in it

If I bought Balmain ,I'd expect change

You constantly ask people to forget the past and support Wests Tigers but you never miss an opportunity to lay the boot into your non-favoured side of the JV.

The reality is , for the life of this JV people will always have digs at the other side of the JV when one side of it is doing it tough .
This is going to take a good 40+ years before we are all deceased from the Balmain side and Wests side who carry loyalty to one side of the JV , eventually the young generation won't give 2 hoots about Balmain or Wests ….. cause they never lived through that period.
Happy Tiger your reference to the change thing is a low blow and Cqtiger is correct , that is why there will always be a continuation of this Balmain vs Wests mentality , as much as people want to deny it , deep down they will carry there true emotions and take a swipe when a chance arises .
Wests Tigers as a whole are there own worst enemy sometimes by continuing to play there home grounds at 3 grounds to please everyone , make a decision play at SFS or ANZ fulltime and slowly start killing this Balmain vs Wests mentality.
I agree if Balmain are not Financial in there share of the Joint Venture well in there due course will be kicked out of there share and sold to the next in line , what is the Saying? " don't kick your mate while he's down" or "If the only tool you have is a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail."

Bit harsh to label Happy of all people as someone who doesn't have respect for the other side. His avatar is of two Balmain players, and he referred to the Wests Tigers colours the other day as Black and Gold.

Didn't. Koukash rule out buying the tigers only a few weeks ago? I seem to remember reading an article with quotes from him and thinking "crap, he's not an idiot."

I'm not swiping Happy Tiger here at all , his a Champion bloke and one of my favourites here , but he did short change Balmain there
Happy comment was all in good fun with a tongue in cheek comment , i'm sure no real malice intended just Happy's good humour coming out .
Doesn't take away the fact that he has short Changed Balmain :roll :bawling

A quote from Mr Koukash in an article from July this year

“One thing is for sure, I am very, very interested in being involved in the NRL as a 100 per cent owner or a part-owner.”

A quote from Koukash from September

""It's not something that would be of interest to me, no. That's too complicated for me. I'm going to pass on that."

Wests Magpies, Balmain Tigers are NOT coming back regardless of who owns them. Also, can we please give the moving to Perth thing a rest; this is so old it has whiskers. The NRL invested time and money in the Wests Tigers in a bid to make the club successful in Sydney and any franchise from Perth will have to stand on its own. In short we ARE NOT moving anywhere.

If I'm not mistaken his avatar was because of a bet on SOO. I may be wrong though.

Doesnt make sense after what he's said….why would a billionaire buy a club that fields two junior rep teams only?
Its like Uncle harry going to buy a used commodore at Parra rd granville

If a foot in the door is his angle, buying Wests would make far more sense

It was, but thats not the point. He clearly chose a pic with a WT's flavour and chose Blocker and Benny when he could have easily had Tommy.

My point is exactly along Ink's lines

Balmain is worth nothing to Koukash

Wests is what Koukash needs to control the WT's in the current climate

If anything Koukash would be far better off waiting 18 months and see what is going to happen

Personally I reckon if Koukash started seriously sniffing around Balmain I reckon Harry T will snap them up and I still reckon that will happen at the end of the day with Balmain to keep them alive

Makes sense to leave it to the last minute anyway financially for Harry in my opinion

And to finally end this argument the quicker Wests and Balmain die the better for the WT's

CQ Tiger I have my memories of the Wests Magpies, I don't need them to survive to remind me who I used to support I've seen a club I supported loyally for 30 odd years die , I can live with it , unlike many Balmain or Wests supporters who hang on for dear life

Life goes on would be my best advice for Balmain and Wests supporters , especially if you look at the future of the Wests Tigers

Once Koucash pays us a visit , checks out the area , checks out our world class training facilities and picks up a kebab from Parramatta rd , he'll get sucked in like the rest of us !

As has already been mentioned, he himself said about 3-4 weeks ago that the very first club he had ruled out was the Tigers as the situation was too messy and he didn't want to simply buy Balmain.

End of story. The Lurker is about 5-6 weeks late with his mail. This scoop had already been discussed, even in the MSM and then rejected by the person involved.

And for the record our current board is Balmain 0, NRL 0, Wests 2, Independent 3.

The NRL selected the board members, but have no control over what they say or do. If they were simply puppets there would be no point in having them, as it is they are 3 capable business people who will endeavour to make the best business decisions on behalf of the Wests Tigers.

Would 3 independent people always think unanimously? Possible, but unlikely in any case.

We'll see.

i dont think he'd be interested in clubs like balmain, raiders, wests, gold coast etc. i think if these clubs do become successful, the profit % would be significant but the profit in terms of $$$ wouldnt be something a businessman like him would be interested in.
