I have a feeling to we might be after a halfback before 2012 season starts.

I think just about everyone has that feeling,TR4L, especially with Lui now gone, but the question is, who is available? Apart from Orford, I can't think of anyone and I'm with steve-o, I really don't want Orford!

Lui is a loss but I don't think it will make or break the Tigers 2012 season. Orford is on a downward spiral and I really do not see any other options currently on the market that are better than what the Tigers have in Miller and Moltzen. Whatever cash the Tigers have left should be put aside for 2013 if they feel they need a new halfback.

Yeah agree Willow keeping our current squad injury free will be the key ,especially in the 1 and 7 jerseys If we can do that we have very high hopes for 2012

Agree Willow. There are a number of options for halfback next year who deserve a shot before we sign someone else.

Miller and Moltzen deserve a shot in the #7 before we give anyone else a go.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I feel an injury free Orford could actually work for us. He was under pressure all year and their forward pack was easily dominated and he struggled as a result. Orford would be great foil for Benji IMO. Poor ol' Matty copped a huge portion of blame for Canberra's poor season, but without Campese, Dugan regularly fit, a notable hooker and their forward pack being dominated or run around, Orford never stood a chance.

But, I do believe Miller, Moltz and Humble should be allowed to have a go before we even consider signing someone else.

Talking about halfbacks, I heard the reason Miller left the Roosters was because when they bought Carney he knew he would be a long way down the list of halves so he decided to try to find greener pastures. I'ld imagine if we bought a new halfback, Miller would see where Sheens has him and would again look for a shot elsewhere.

I strongly believe this is Millers year. I also think that Moltzen should stay at 1\. He was solid towards the end of the year, so why change our spine, yet again, for an experiment that was tried and failed in 2011.

Also, if halfback was such a troublesome spot for us right now, I couldn't see the TAB having us as premiership favorites. If having no established half was so detrimental to our success, there's plenty of teams that could be ahead of us in the betting odds.

Markets change as often as the weather….I dont see why people hold betting markets in such high regard, its an opinion, nothing more.

I know it's an opinion, but it's an opinion based on our current state without a halfback. Looking at the likes of Melbourne, Manly and to a lesser extent the Warriors, if our lack of an established halfback was a huge issue, as some make it out to be, then we shouldn't be anywhere near these sides in the betting market.

I know what your saying, but I'm only using the premiership odds as a reference to my point.

Yeah fair point.
We do know if it is an issue for us they will change the market accordingly quicker than you can blink.

Exactly. I know that #7 is going to be a problem and I was surprised as anyone to see our odds. I just was using the market to illustrate my point.

Good question Flippedy doesn't seem to be many half backs on the market so looks like Moltz or Miller will get a go. Could sheens be having a look at a half whilst in England? probably not.

Where will Brett Stewart end up? You can say what you like about him (I have) but he is a darn good fullback. Playing for a TS coached side woundn't do his rep prospects any harm.
Before Moltz did his knee in wasn't he our regular half and playing out of his skin?…Just saying...

if, as reported in the telecrap, that the stewart bros are on the dragqueens radar, does that open up the more likelihood of dugan coming to the tigers in 2013 ?

I think a lot will depend on how Tedesco performs in 2012\. He'll obviously start in the NYC, but if he excels I wouldn't be surprised to see him start at fullback in FG in 2013\. If the Tigers are going to make a play for Dugan then that will surely spell the end for Lote and Moltzen who are both off contract at the end of 2012.

I think you'll find it may be lotes last year. He is getting on.

Tedesco is very much in the 2012 plans but he still is only 18-19 yo. He is a good thing. But don't expect him to be a regular for a while.
