Picked for All Stars. Pack is back in rep footy!

Does that mean we have to pay him a Rep bonus? Ugghh it never ends...

On the plus side it could mean souffs have gotta pay Benchies rep bonus as well. Dodged a bullet

This is not officially a representative game.

Classified as an invitational event.

I really hope Packer re discovereds his agro, he could still be a force in the front row

I really had high hopes for Packer. Thought he could be the enforcer we badly needed.

I don't think we've ever had another player that I had so much hope for with so little reward.* I used to dream of him when he was at Saints. 100m, found his front almost all the time. stopped people short in defence.

*maybe Jason Cayless

O'Hara definitely .....Matulino ......Tamou

Tamou???? What are you basing that on?
No way he will be a dud. His leadership alone on and off the field will be priceless.

Nick Graham was our biggest flop, he was fantastic for the Sharks.
Sam Harris too had all the attributes of a great player but he did nothing at our club.

Adam Blair has to be up there.

And Anastasia

A headline from WWOS.

Wests Tigers brute Russell Packer among host of players added to NRL All Stars squads.

I was nearly going to post it under "Dad humour" or "Things that make you laugh".

The thing is jad,his form before coming to us was fine, coming on board with us he got a couple of really bad injuries, one of which was a toe problem that eventually had to have surgery...
I know people hate Packer and Mbye because of what Ivan paid for them, thats not their fault and injuries can keep the most promising and highly paid players out for months, its part of the game..
I hope Russ and Mbye both have great seasons this year and when they eventually move on I wish them all the best in future undertakings...sometimes life doesnt work out the way we would like, but both these players have played in the worlds best rugby league arena, something many of us could only dream about...

Totally agree.

But 1 year playing well will be better that 4 dud years for us patient tiger fans

Or maybe he's just done. It happens to everyone, some much earlier than others. All I've seen is that he can have an effective game after a long break eg. the start of a new season, after a return from injury but can't back it up. Robbie Rochow was the same for us a few years back. Didn't look out of place for 2 - 3 games but by game 6 was spent.

I’m sure Clearys worried about the Tigers roster.

I would like to have your optimism, but Packer was so far the definition of dud player, up there with Graham/Harris/Anasta/Ballin. He played one good game for us, and his runs averaged 0.2 m per game, but for some 'he runs killers decoys' ??

At least Blair put in some effort from memory. Shame it was misguided effort though, he took out more of our players through long-term injury than opposition. Was it Farah that he jammed in a shoulder charge gone wrong and hyperextended his elbow, basically stuffed him for a few months?
He was a headless chook on the field for us, had the energy but just couldn't see where he was putting it.
Less said about Braiff the better, he's like the weird Uncle that is never spoken about at Christmas gatherings.

Hasn't it all become a bit boring to continue to slag off Rusty Packer? This is his last year with WT, 99% he won't be renewed, he'll probably play a few games this year but is as far down the pecking order in 2021 as ever, with some legitimate first-grade-ready replacements coming in.

He'll do everything the club asks of him, turn up to train hard and do community work. Then shuffle off quietly to retirement or some low-key destination.

Or not what? Won't turn up?

Packer is a pro, he'll do everything the club asks him to do. It might be as simple a case as making sure he does nothing wrong so he can collect his paycheck.

I very much doubt he'll play football in 2021 to the level we require of our props on a weekly basis. He just doesn't seem to have that consistency in him any more. Arguably he only ever had it for a few seasons at a time, at his peak.

My point however is I don't really want to think or talk about him any more, unless he's picked in the FG side. He's yesterday's news.
