Russian invasion of Ukraine

You keep on believing Adolf sorry Putin
Russians lost more lives because of Hitler than any other country.

“No nation in the history of battle ever suffered more than the Soviet union suffered in the course of the Second World War. At least 20 million lost their lives..a third of the nations territory, including two thirds of its industrial base was turned into a wasteland” Jack Kennedy 1963

Ok i will.Russia should never have invaded another sovereign country,Putin can add his name to all the other war criminals over the earths history.Satisfied now.
With how corrupt Ukraine is with their dealings with the West I.e Victoria Nuland/ Bidens etc surprised putin didn’t go into Ukraine earlier

I pop my head in here only now and then to offer support to anyone who has lost loved ones, relatives or friends in this conflict like my neighbour and could use a word of comfort and sympathy.
I've given up reading members posts because they're passion, beliefs and opinions are not to be disagreed with.
People are becoming emotional which I understand, but being aggressive towards each other isn't going to solve the issues.
Isn't it a coincidence that wars start in similar fashion.
Please stay safe and if you have friends and loves ones caught up in any capacity in this conflict, whether they are in danger, hurt or even worse killed, my prayers are for you and those affected.
Just on the back of your comment.

Fyi pass this onto anyone you is affected

Russia suffered more than any other country in WW2,Stalin has been quoted as saying something like that "Britain supplied the time America supplied the money and Russia supplied the blood".

But worth remembering Russia and Soviet Union are not synonymous. A disproportionate percentage of Soviet deaths, both soldiers and civilians, were from Ukraine, Belarus rather than Russia.

Interesting short video from before the current war, on fighting in the Donbass showing foreign fighters on both sides - Kaito some of your Serbian boys feature prominently.

DFAT would be able to assist with that . I believe there is a dedicated phone number for relatives / unaccompanied minors etc from the DFAT website. but atm re visas Ukrainians are being prioritised ahead of other cohorts.

They will be eligible for HSP support I.e hecs; Medicare and I’ve been told amep too.

If they come to NSW “SSI” is the HSP provider for Afghans, Ukraine etc

Absolutely correct, during WW2 the emphasis by Stalin was to use the terms "motherland" and Russia in stirring patriotism amongst its citizens rather than USSR because of the terrible things he had done in the past.

For my Russian friends on WTF.

The regional KGB headquarters in Arkhangelsk suffered a major fire and was almost completely destroyed. Shortly after, a man called looking for help.

“I’m sorry, we can’t do anything,” said the receptionist. “The KGB has burnt down.”

Five minutes later, the receptionist received another call. “I’m sorry, we can’t help. The KGB has burnt down.”

Another five minutes passed, and the phone rang again. The receptionist recognised the voice as the man who’d twice called previously.

“Why do you keep calling? I told you that the KGB has burnt down.”

“I know. I just like hearing it.”

More for my Russian friends.

A worker standing in a food line in Moscow says: “I have had enough, save my place, I am going to shoot Putin.” Two hours later he returns to claim his place in line. His friends ask, “Did you get him?” “No, the line there was even longer than the line here.”

And just one more.

A man walks into a shop. He asks the clerk, “ Do you have any meat?” The clerk says, “No, we're a fish shop. Here we don’t have any fish. The shop that doesn’t have any meat is across the street.”

I just phoned her, she's back working and couldn't talk for long but I looked at the link you provided and she said it sounds like the one that has assisted her.
On the good news front, one of her sisters an nephew arrived from Ukraine on a Tourist visa but I'm unsure if that was arranged before or start of conflict.
Sadly her doctor sister is is still their terrified and her brother is fighting.
She spoke to her sister two says ago via WhatsApp [don't know what that is] and now cant communicate because all data apparently controlled??
So good news and worrying news but she still grieves for her mother who died.
She doesn't want to talk about it because I think she is so sad she missed the private small funeral.

Waaah, those scary commies. The ethnicaly diverse Russians love him, higher approval rating than our stooges At home & abroad

Ill pass on all those details to her, hopefully there might be something in that to help her.
Forum members should save that post incase similar instances crop up.
Thankyou 👍

Serbia is crazy. A lot of nationalists, war is the only thing they know/understand. If they're not fending off 500 years of Turkish imperialism under the ottomans they're fighting each other/neighbours. That video is 10 yrs old btw

My condolences 💐

Sub class 600 visas can be extended for Ukrainians . Close relatives can apply on behalf of family too.

Just a side note too my mum used to work for Qantas and I checked the avails of intmational flights and all of the flights were empty 150+ vacant seats. I’m not sure if dfat is organising chartered flights
