Ryan Girdler, Jamie Soward on Wests Tigers' Debacle

ON FORM he would be ranked in the bottom 5 number 6's in the comp. no where near the money we have been ofereing andgiving him atm.

I appluad wt for acknowledging this and refusing to be bent over and banged.

Yeah…. sorry mate, we don't want you but when we know what the cap is we might have another think about it.
There was no saying we don't think we can afford the current offer, would you settle for this?
The offer to play here was completely withdrawn - basically telling him you're not in our plans for the future.

Settle down Uncle Benny, they've confirmed that they are going to tender another offer when the cap is confirmed.

Perhaps Mitch should have signed when he had the chance instead of trying to gouge the club? He only has himself to blame.

It's hilariously backfired on him, he thought he was in a position of power until Cronk came on the market and Brooks allegedly signed. He'll get what he wants, it just won't be here.

Absolutely. The 'he isn't wanted' line is utterly ridiculous.
Did Moses feel wanted when we let Austin walk?
Did he feel wanted when we let Martin walk?
Did he feel wanted when they paid him $600k off the bat?
Did he feel wanted when he was a walk-up start in the #6 jersey every week, despite a lack of performance, both from him and the team as a whole?
Did he feel wanted when JT and others came out in the media and defended him week after week, despite all sorts of external criticism?
I'm sorry, but he's all but have the club bend over backwards for him for a few years now. This is all on him.

Whether he was 'wanted' before has nothing to do with it.
He's been told he's not wanted now - just like if you're missus says the marriage is over, all the love and promises and what happened before is forgotten.
As for being tabled another offer when 'we know what the salary cap is' - like being told you didn't get the job but try again next time it's advertised.
I hope he stays and plays out the year but, in the end, it's been done poorly again by the management (both the club's and his).

LOL… Face it Benny, Moses gambled and lost. He tried to take the club to the cleaners thinking he was worth more, Brooks beat him to the jump and Cronk's news changed the game.

They will re-table an offer to him, likely what they think he's worth which I gather will be a fair way off what he thinks he is worth.

His greed came back to bite him on the arse big time. Now he's had a dummy spit and you expect the club to fawn over him while he behaves like a brat? Pull the other one.

So there's been an offer on the table for months, the club finally gets sick of waiting and pulls it. And they are the bad guys? What a world.

I think Isaac Moses has a lot to answer for here. Not just in the maneuvering but how this has played out in the last week.

I can accept Mitch Moses is upset that he's been down-prioritised. But he should not make that public and his uncle Benny is a really poor spokesperson. Brooks appears to have jumped in early to secure his place, and frankly that's how this should all go for the unproven kids of our side.

EVERYONE has turned on Moses this week, fans, pundits, supporters of other clubs. I wonder what Eels fans have to say. It sucks for Mitch that he's now 4th of the Big Four, I can't imagine how some other blokes must feel they don't even rate a mention, let alone be 4th.

I would guess that with previous offers, Mitch considered himself a higher priority and Cleary has come in, had his hand somewhat forced by the NRL salary cap announcement, and made a decision to consolidate the priorities. Then with Moses having a dummy spit, Tigers have publicly announced their intentions, bring the whole thing out from closed doors, and explain their position. It's won them the high ground and Moses reputation this week has been boned.

Isaac Moses has not managed the reputation of his client well. Isaac held all the cards a fortnight ago, I am sure he felt in a strong position, but only 1 or 2 pieces needed to move (namely new coach and Cronk leaving Melbourne) and his entire position has been punctured. Now Brooks has signed, Moses has spat the dummy, Woods and Tedesco are the focus of public pressure.

Indeed by publicly announcing now the Tedesco and Woods priorities, Tigers have been fairly shrewd here, they have not issued a deadline but it is implied that the expect movement on certain players, which brings in the media eye/pressure. From this point forward, Tigers can say things like "we want James to stay, we've made that clear, there is a strong offer with his manager that he is considering" and it's all on the player and manager

I wonder if Tigers have only done this in reaction to the public manoeuvres of the player manager, if they wanted to keep it in-house but with the procrastination and tricks of the manager, they've brought it to a head.

You can continue acting like a schoolkid ( sorry if that offends some of you actual schoolkids on here) and calling me Benny all you like but it doesn't change what happened.
They made him an upgraded offer only 5 days before - and then took it off the table and told him they'll give him a call if there are some scraps left on the table.
And, seriously, do you really think he puts the figures on himself or his agent does?

It has everything to do with it. Camp Moses has been stalling for over a year whilst the club has been trying to sign him long term.
As soon as he's told he's third priority (behind two current SOO players, no less), he throws his toys out of the pram and wants out.
It's laughable behaviour, and insulting to WT as a club and to his teammates.

There's lots of things we can sling mud at WT management in recent times, but this is not one of them.

Put everything aside that has transpired over the past six months and look at it in a very simplistic way.

The club withdrew its offer and said we will get back to you when we know what the cap is in 201l8, but in the meantime we want to get Woods and Tedesco sorted. Than comes along Parra and offers him a substantial contract with the opportunity to start next week.

Pretty easy call if you ask me, bird in the hand worth two in the bush. Okay he had a chance to re sign but he did not, same as Teddy and Woods. Do people really think he would tell Parra, put that offer on hold while I wait to see what the Tigers come back with.

I think both parties will benefit, Moses will get to play behind a strong pack with a experienced half partner and we will not have two kids running the show

I don't think anyone is annoyed he is going elsewhere, even though the majority would like to have kept him. Its the way they imply the club didn't want him, when in fact the club has tried to sign him for months.

While the club has long told him and his entourage that he is part of the future, they were off with Nick Politis negotiating and if you believe the reports signing a deal to be a Rooster only to backflip shortly after.

Mitchell had a "bird in the hand" for 6 months without being in a rush to sign it, why the rash decision now?

You're blowing smoke signals now. Where is he being told he's not wanted now? The club pulled the previous offer because of the salary cap not being at a level where it was forecast to be. The club has said Teddy and Woods are the immediate priority, and once that is done they'll go back to Mitch with a revised offer.

He spat the dummy, plain and simple. As others have said, he could have signed earlier but thanks to some wonderful advice from his manager, he's drawn the process out too long in a bid to be paid ridiculous "overs". Brooks is the smart kid here by signing first.

I would like to applaud and congratulate the club. They have shown the courage of their convictions and are not prepared to carry a highly paid passenger who is prepared to moon his fellow team mates for the sake of extra money which he just does not deserve.

really , moses has had that contract for 5 months it was revelled, and he sat on it, knowing full well he was going to join the EELS, there is no way he arranged a deal with the EELS inside12 hours. he had this planned all along. so why is he crying foul now.

I think ET makes a great leader without the talk, his actions speak louder than words

He's still bleeding out of his ears 3 weeks after he was smashed by Sam Burgess but it hasn't affected his intensity at all. That's the type of guy you want leading your troops.

MOSES will stay if the 10 days are not up he will stay

No idea what this even means

On Girds and Soward, refreshing to see someone in the media finally back the club. There was a time I would have demanded heads roll if we lost 3 out of the 4, but It's become more and more obvious the club is bending over backwards for them. Despite what gutter rags try to report, the club is not in crisis. The "crisis" is that the club has had enough of being dictated to and finally wants an answer. Brooks knew his options were limited so he got on board right away. The others know they have options on the table and have had a sook because they still wanted to milk us for a bit longer. Cleary made it known he was having none of it, so now the pressure is on them, it's "waah we're sick of playing for a club always in turmoil". Funny Teddy wasn't saying these things back in January. It was all positive back then. All positive when he talked about pay cuts. How's that going now? These guys have lost the upper hand in negotiations and this is their way of dealing with it. Kudos to Cleary.

Agree.

The 10 day cooling off period Moses backed out of the contract with the Roosters think he mite do the same

Well I figure you're related to him, you've got to be close to him because you're one of the very few (if not the only one,) that is vehemently backing him despite what he's done.

The club has been working to lock the four players for ages, are you honestly telling me they've only made a concerted effort for five days to lock him down? Pull the other one… Brooks or Cleary could have been locked down at that point and that changed the game. Obviously they've had to work on the offers for Tedesco and Woods (as they stated in the release they are the priority,) and Moses is now the odd man out.

Of course his manager works on the numbers with the clubs, but Moses would have an idea of what he wants in the first place.

At the end of the day, there was an offer for him to sign, then there was an upgraded offer, and he didn't take the initiative to sign either. That's what happens when you sit on your hands, the club obviously got sick of waiting on him and decided to move onto Teddy and Woods. Then he chucks the toys out of the cot and wants out now. What a sook.

Moses loves attention. He's getting plenty of it even if it's mostly negative. Still he's getting it.

He couldn't give a damn about the club. Like others have already said he just cares about himself. Hopefully the other two aren't motivated by the same need for attention as Moses because it might be a long while before they sign. So much for caring about how it all affects your team mates. Not the actions of a true leader, that's for sure.

SuperCoach - The parra deal was there long before Monday he was using it as leverage and it backfired

If that's the case then it really does reflect poorly on Moses to actually try and play that card against the Tigers.

Nothing wrong with the ploy, it's common practice but the tigers offer was always more than the eels in $$ and years he just got greedy pushing for that 850k
