Ryan Matterson

**Aloiai** will be in ISP for some time or released. Unfit, poor defence, poor discipline, poor ball handling. Yes he runs hard and is a nice guy but that's nowhere near enough. He's not a kid, potential doesnt come into it!

Off topic but really dont know what happens with this guy. He's been in first grade for 3 seasons now and hasnt improved at all. All energy and can have impact but hasnt improved any areas that you can excuse in a rookie.

The miss on Reynolds last week was something even Mitch Moses would have been embarrassed of.

always injured

Some are a bit ignorant of his talents.

Could be the best forward signing we've made in a while.

Apparently being let go to make way for Crichton on stupid money means he's a fringe first grader.

Pretty bloody versatile player to have on the books.

I honestly dont think its Crichton pushing him out. My money is on Taupau or TPJ.

Roosters just playing smart as they know he has had some concussion issues and is risk if he cops it again. Its a very Amercian sports way of doing business

He means that they've signed Crichton to play 80 minutes of right edge, which is where Matterson is best value. So in that sense Crichton has squeezed him out.

And as i stated i disagree.

I think to classify Ryan Matterson as simply a right edge player is under valuing him. He is a classy classy player. Imo plays best when allowed to roam the field. he has looked frustrated and bored playing right edge.

I would think being behind Boyd, Radley, Liu and likely Crichton, battling weekly with Aubusson, Butcher and Collins is reason enough to want to cement a permanent FG spot elsewhere, without needing another forward to tip you over the edge.

He was given permission to talk to other clubs.

The Roosters pulled the pin!

Im saying Taupau or TPJ is the reason the Roosters have let him go. That and the concussion risk.

Can offload, pass, kick and run the ball.

Make a nice utility on the bench as well as play in the rotation if needed. Don't know about his HIA issues but if he can stay healthy he will be in the 17.

I think the roosters have plenty of his type in their squad and are possibly making way for someone who just runs the ball hard like a TPJ and Taupau.

Im not convinced that crichton is as good as the reviews he gets by the media, didn't impress during origin and while i haven't watched many the few i did see he wasn't special.

Crighton has been back to last years form the last month, he is a good one.

Good player unwanted by his current club = perfect signing.

Let's be honest, we can second guess any signing. If they're young, they're unproven. If they're old, they're past it. If their current club is prepared to release them, they're useless. If their current club fights to keep them, they're probably only going to move for overs. If we're in competition with a lot of other clubs, we're probably going to have to pay too much. If we're _not_ in competition with a lot of other clubs, the player is probably useless.

And you Sir have just recorded the post of the month.

This is exactly what happens on here.

Totally, we will never sign a good player

Nothing will be official till the Roosters season finishes imo. The club will respect the fact he’s playing finals, and won’t want to distract him.

Yep, few more weeks until it'll be made official by both clubs.

Brilliant summation of the moaners who frequent this space.

The only problem with this signing is that it has been leaked.

Not worth what the chooks would be paying him.

Going off a bit early but some good highlights.

I must admit I couldn't recall anything spectacular about him but the highlight package shows that he definitely has a good skill set. We just hope that he comes with his A game and doesn't become another disappointment.
