I agree with that except for the part about Farah
Majority of these players have been the reason we’ve lost almost each week. Klemmer is busted, Stefano only had one good season in 2021 and has since tanked, Sezer is struggling most weeks, and Olam has been injured and missed quite a few games. Bula been hot and cold, same as Galvin and Ice. Api and Samuela have probably been our most consistent players all year but the others you pointed out have struggled to keep up. Not to mention they’re also surrounded some weeks with players who would struggle to make another clubs top 30, or are depth at best elsewhere. We are where we are because our roster compared to the rest of the NRL sucks. Even a better coach isn’t getting this squad off the bottom 4 off the ladder. To be clear I’m not saying Benji shouldn’t be criticised, but even if he wasn’t coaching this squad would struggle to make finals even for a decent coach.

What makes you think another coach would get better results when hardly any clubs would sign majority of our players in our top 30? Another coach wouldn’t get this squad finals bound.
One quick example : the dragons/ dolphins and tigers have relatively similar starting sides when lined up. Could argue minor differences.
They are both coming 8th! We are coming dead last.
Even if you think one has a better squad it’s not 17-8th difference.
Coaching is the diff.
Lomax and hunt and the drags were terrible under Griffith last year - flanno comes in and lomax is having his best year. It’s the coaches who get the best out of the players. We have enough good senior players who have all regressed and playing terrible. It can’t be ALL of their faults. One yes but not 5 players. They all suck bc they have lost respect for Benji or his methods.

Dogs have been on a recruitment run for years, they’ve finally started getting the results for it. Don’t forget Ciraldo was second last last season. Dragons IMO have always had a better squad than us bar Api, they’ve just had really bad coaches in McGregor and Griffin holding them back. Flanno I’ll give credit to him but even he’s struggling with them some weeks. Besides if Benji is sacked after this year who’s gonna put their hand up to coach us when they won’t last next season when they miss the finals? The club is already seen as a basket case and sacking another coach will just add more fuel to that fire.

I’m not disputing that they can’t sack him unless there’s a better replacement ready.
I’m simply saying that Benji can’t coach.
If Richo could change him now I think he would - if there was Bennet, flanno, des around like there was last year I think it would warrant it.
They’ll have to give him the rest of the year and then assess.
I think the only changes in the coaching staff will be Farah and Heighno out the door. Morris MIGHT be safe unless they find another assistant who’s known for their defence. Benji is most likely safe till at least next season is finished or halfway depending how we start next year. Reality is there’s just no way for him to get the boot without the club getting shat on for it, unless he resigned himself but I don’t see him doing that.

I agree that Richo would love Benji to knock on his door and say he isn't the man to do this. That would be the ideal situation and puts Richo in a strong position to replace him with limited media negativity.
I've been wrestling with how I feel about Benji. Was taking on this role admirable or selfish? I'd have to lean towards selfish.
It probably was selfish, but at the same time I doubt many people would have been knocking at the chance to come coach us, and that’s even after the new admin came in as well. Anyone that would’ve been ideal were still head coaches elsewhere and weren’t available either.
There is zero chance Benji survives past round 10 next year if we’re performing badly.
Galvin can talk to clubs November 1st.
Richo will want to give his family and manager confidence that we have a good coach long before that if it all goes bad in the opening ten rounds.
Galvin can talk on Nov 1 next year, he is signed to the club until 2026. He’s not a free agent when Nov 1 hits this year. However, I do agree if we are poor by round 10-12 next year, there’s a real good chance Benji is out the door by then.

Flanagan was keen. I'm still not sure I'd want him because he brings Kyle, but he is a hugely accredited coach who was available at the time.
Technically Flanno wasn’t available. He signed with Dragons around April-June last year but was available before Sheens initial appointment if that’s what you were referring to. Heard a rumour that Sheens and Flanno don’t get along as Sheens was initially the head of football who probably wouldn’t have want Flanno here. But like I said it is a rumour can’t confirm if legit.

Yes available when the Sheens with Benji succession plan was put in place.
Either there’s some truth to that rumour, or the previous management didn’t consider it. I initially was against it when it was mentioned but looking back it might’ve worked. However, our squad is still poor compared to the rest of the NRL. Even a better coach is gonna struggle with this lot.

I think Sheens wanted it from the get go. IMO he totally screwed us more then any previous coach.
