Sack Sheens Thread

The following should happen tommorrow .
Wests Tigers would like to hold a press conference for the reason that Tim Sheens would like to hand in his resignation of the Head coaching job at the Tigers .
I would like to thank the club, coaching staff, players for a wonderful 9 years at the club ive had , but feel it's time that someone else steps in and gives these players fresh ideas and a new direction .
I have done all i can but feel responsible for the way the team has performed.
The journo's then ask Tim any regrets ? Yeah i do actually and that would be letting go of Brett Hodgson, and Brett playing his best footy the following years after he left us, earning himself the Iron man award in the super league (which is the Dally M award in the NRL) .
Also the Adam Blair signing was a big mistake in terms of $$$$$$ value, and will admit that i have egg in my face for letting Bryce Gibbs go .
lastly before i go Tim Molzten you owe me a big thank you for resigning you cause no one else wanted you after the Dragons debacle.

I wish this would happen hahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!! :rant

Was 2010 and 2011 really great work from Tim?

Both years we played some disgusting football that had many wanting players sacked left, right and center. Both years we had dramas galore off the field that affected us on it. Essentially, both years were similar to this year with the one exception…..

In both years we had amazing end of season runs that got us into the finals and saved Tims bacon. 06,07,08 and 09 were all disasters and even 05 was was aweful till round 14 or so.....Not a great record if you ask me even considering the premiership and the emergence of some guns that he brought through the ranks.

We need a change before Robbie, Benji and co are too old to bring home another title.

The thing I could not believe is at half time Gasnier said he was pretty calm about being down 26-0\. Either he knows that he can no longer motivate this team or he has given up. I would be interested to see what he said after the match. Im guessing its the same old excuses. The team as a whole has been inconsistant for 7+ years now and that begins and ends with the coach. I have always been a supporter of Sheens but after some terrible performances by this team when their season is on the line, its clear he has no more to give this current group.

It's getting to that stage I fear. We clearly have a serious attitude problem, leaking 42 points against a team with nothing to play for is beyond a joke. We leaked 26 against parra 3 weeks ago, we just cant get it together against these lesser teams. Sheens and the senior players really need to get their act together.

There's little doubt in my mind Sheens has squeezed all the juice out of the lemon. I've felt this now since 2010\. The arrival of Folkes last year had us forget things a little, but the moment he left it was same old same old. My reasoning is that we only have to look at his entire reign here at Wests Tigers. Despite personnel changes, we're committing the same flaws in 2012 that we were in 2004\. Little has changed in that regard. This is a Sheens squad with Sheens traits all over it.

There's no questioning our attack. Hasn't been an issue under Sheens. But under Sheens it's been a constant mess of Drop balls, drifting in and out of contests and almost never showing a ruthless streak. A lack of professionalism is probably not the word i'd use though. I'd say it's almost a lack of quality control so to speak. We just don't have the high standards the Melbourne's, Manly's and these days Souths seem to set. Something has to give and Sheens should walk. He won't be sacked. Perhaps the club may look at a restructure with Sheens moving into a football director role but they won't replace him…unless he walks, and he probably needs to.

Without a doubt - this is a crisis.
Stranger things have happened, a lot of other clubs step up and make the harsh call and fire a coach when the team is simply under achieving and not performing on field.

What is the problem ?
Is it Tim Sheens ?

Only one way to find out - get a new coach in there and see if that makes any difference.
If not - try and identify the problem and fix it.

No doubt some things the guy does are simply idiotic, such as the use of the bench, using lower grade players, not dropping players, favouritism, etc.

Souths aren't scared to drop Isaac Luke, mmm….

All successful enterprises operate under a policy of continual improvement right through an organisation. It is the responsibility of management to ensure the running of club continually improves; it is the responsibility of the coaching staff to ensure the team's results improve and player's individual performances and attitude keep improving each year; it is the player's responsibility to personally improve and work on their skill sets and performance each week. In the entire organisation only a handful of players can put up their hand and honestly say they have improved in all areas this year … as far as coaching goes, defensive patterns have been abysmal, attitude poor and consistency non existent. Administration ... well player retention and recruitment has left a lot to be desired, a lot of the players released will be playing in the finals series this year while our lot comfort themselves in a bar somewhere, we lack size, authority and strength in the forwards and speed and height in the backs. I am afraid the tigers have become a 'taj mahal', big on looks and style and short on substance, with no one in fear of being dropped, mediocrity is rewarded each week. Just take a look at teams like manly, bulldogs, storm etc they have 'mongrel' in them, play it hard, don't take backwards steps and turn up with the same attitude each week - teams hate playing them, that's what we should be aspiring to. Attitude is a quality that filters through from the top ....... history will repeat itself unless the tigers have enough courage to make some changes, a lot of players should be released next year, not questioning their heart at all, it's their ability to compete at this level which is open to interpretation. To end the year on a bright note, great to see marika get a run albeit too late in the year, there is a lesson to be learned there, more minutes for the young brigade, they have no fear and a ton of ability.

Great posts… What scares me with this seemingly regression of players is - a guy like woodsy, what a player and a great year but who knows next year he may go backwards... I have no faith and whilst I'm sure he can keep improving, others seem to go backwards if anything, so the board and management need to act now... I've said before nothing personal and sheens is a legend and will always be special to this club but we need a change... Maybe he could go into a director role and thus allow an easier way to change things and for sheens to be a mentor for youth etc I'm sure many just want him gone completely but I could handle having him in a Phil Gould type role and have new coaches running day to day coaching and tactics

He should have been sacked at the end of 2006\. Having the reigning premiers miss the eight would be more than enough reason for many other coaches at other clubs to be sacked.

I decided that I would not spend a cent on the club next year when they announced that Royce Simmons was coming back. We are going backwards.

You have been here to long Mr Sheens time to say goodbye. Your services or lack of are no longer required. Rugby League has changed and evolved you Sir have not. To set things straight our boys won you a grand final in 2005 not you for us. They were the days you had no power and nobody listened to what you had to say!!!.

Do the right thing Tim Bye Bye please!!!On your terms we the fans can see it. The board aren't to far behind ( I hope) . Your resignation please Tim

They can't afford to pay him out thanks to the three year contract they handed him last year.

The Warriors are after a coach, lets hope they take him off our hands.

Seriously should have been sacked in 2009 and even our inept board must sack him at the end of this year.

I hate AFL but I remember some one asked Mark "Bomber" Thompson why he left Geelong at the end of 2010, he said he had been there long enough and he had no more knowledge to give to the senior players and that they had stopped listening to him. Geelong won another comp in 2011\. This is where Sheens is at with our club.

I think Sheens is a good coach and has done a lot of goo for our club but he has overstayed as head coach. He has to be sacked/replaced at the end of this year.

Come pre season I don't believe the CURRENT coach & staff can get this team to believe they can win a competition. I have no confidence that we will challenge for a top 4 spot next season. Will be another bitter, depressing season for all Tigers fans. Failure on the park means smaller crowds, fewer members & less sponsorship dollars. Time for the CEO to make some hard, unemotional decisions. The team deserve it & the members & fans demand it.

I can't see any improvement in this team for next yr. Still don't have a halfback, an unproven fullback whose returning from a knee reco and will most probably be brought along very slowly, and a coach who is absolultely clinically, certifiably insane. Our recruits don't get me too excited, i know a few people are looking forward to Anasta but really, the guy is a has been bordering on a never was. He gives 110% every time he plays and he has a go, i'll give him that much, but he's far from the kind of player who will turn us around. I think the best we can hope for next yr is trying to scrape into the bottom half of the 8

I like to be balanced and given we were premiership favourites we have underperformed. Whilst there are no excuse there are mitigating circumstances:

* I think the loss of Lui has been underplayed and we never really recovered
* The injury to Tedesco met a complete change to the structure
* Robbie Farah missing due to rep and personal reasons
* Long term injuries to Chris Lawrence, Gareth Ellis, Keith Galloway and Heghno
* Adam Blair hasn't lived up to what we thought he would be
* Tim Moltzen hasn't really come on (neither has Ayshford) -
* The unfortunate loss to Canterbury and the broken hand to Robbie led to a "double whammy"

Some of these are beyond Tim's control but others are well within it. I would hate to be a Parramatta that automaticallyexclusively blame coaches for their results and be constantly changing structures.

Personally, I think if you were looking at a coach, you'd probably have to judge on the previous season (possibly two) and on that I would agree to retain Tim however we would have to have success next year to go beyond that. I did think he was lucky in 2010 when we resigned him

Fair enough on some of your points, especially Lui he was a big loss. As good as he was on the field he was as bad off it. His ban is up next year and I tip he will go great in the 7 jumper for the Cowboys.
An injury to an rookie fullback ahould not ruin our season
You contradict yourself when yous say Moltzen hasn't come on. Every fan I know thinks he has been crap most of this year and what do we do, we give him another 3 year contract. Our coaching staff is the laughing stock of the NRL.
The same idiot coaching staff got rid of one of the best prop defenders in the NRL in Gibbs to sign Blair.
Injuries are part of every clubs season, most coaches just bring in a lower grade player or a kid from the 20's in the right poosition to replace the injured player. Not Sheens he makes about 5 positional changes to replace 1 injured player. He has lost the plot.

Shens has been to 3 final series in 9 years, that is not acceptable at any club and should be enough reason to get rid of him at the end of this year. I hope our board has the balls to make the correct decision but I fell that Sheens will still be here for the next 2 years till his contract runs out. I for the first time in 2013 will back our team not to make the 8 if Sheens is still the coach.

I signed and everyone else I sent it to on facebook is going to sign it as well. Does it mean we will stop supporting the Tigers no many of us have supported the Tigers for over 35yrs. I'm not a member this year because of work but I was ready to buy membership for my whole family (wife and 2 kids ) for next year that won't be happening.
I have 8 mates who are members and none of them are renewing their membership next year.
My wife who comes home all the time with little bits of Tigers merch all the time has said she will be spending no more, my 12 yr old daughter who really only started to get into football last year has put her tigers jersey and shirt away and wont wear them anymore.
I love the Tigers and always will which is why I have had enough of the under performing trash they are dealing up, we have the team to win a premiership but we have a coach that I believe has run of ways to motivate and get the best out of the team. There is only so much knowledge a coach can give and sheens has reached that limit.
Sheens has done alot for our club and fans will be thankful for that but for the team to move to that next level of being serious threat to the competition the players need new direction and focus.
