Sack Sheens Thread

call me stupid if you like ,but surely missing out on the finals will cost the club more than the 500 k it would cost to pay out sheens contract.
lost revenue, merchandise for all the bandwagoners.corperate boxes.
Sheens is the problem and once removed our club will move forward.

Exactly

What's sad is though, if only he just listened and acted accordingly . I mean I've always supported the man and even now after all that's transpired this year –- if I knew for sure things would change I'd be happy to see him out till his contract ends and then maybe a director role afterwards BUT he's shown e won't change and we can't just wait and hope he finally does... It's now time..

The crap that's been dished out off field and on field is unacceptable .

Now we don't have depth... Either way it's on the coach and if there really is a thorough review of the joint then surely he's shot.

Just by playing guys in position and having the team with the right attitude and I'm sure we make the 8.. Sure we had issues including injuries and sad passing of Robbie's mum but all the same we are meant to be a professional organization.. Other Clubs have ditched their coach for much less... Our coach has been here a long time and can have no complaints... I'm also grateful for 2005 premiership and also for him turning around this place and developing some top class talent ...

However, As a passionate supporter I just can't bear another 2 years of this... What can we do?

so from last season to this, missing rob lui, poor personnel manager who was not sharp in that regard.
lui loved the big occasion and will in time show his ability for the cboys.
so no half. and none on the horizon. benji loved the doubt lui gave the opposition, not to mention that wicked pinpoint pass.
from last season, missing todd payten with the aggression and management around the ruck when needed.
this season missing robert farah.thats just a tragedy that hampstead created.
remember when both farah, marshall and groat got knocked senseless by shoulder charges and no one was brought to account.
the money talked and still does.
sheens has the support of his players. pity the supporters cant see it.

So a convicted woman beater is ok in your team as long as they can play well?

Sheens & his staff have to go the tigers needed to hire stone the players we have are fine we have a great under 20s team.
The last 2 weeks have been painful to watch the players looked tired & seemed not interested it was 10 -4 at 1/2 time last night then the boys came out after the 1/2 time speech they looked like they had not listned to word sheens had said & they had no game plain
Daniel Anderson would not suit the tigers
Steve Folkes had his chance at the tigers
Stone made the S/F with Newcastle & has had a year with Bennett

get off your high horse donnie brasco, i did not say anything of the sort. i simply put the point of view his leaving has had an immense effect on the teams performance and could have been better dealt with early intervention which obviously was not forthcoming.
that is not a coach's job.and lui had sheen's support as a player.

You got to love our man Sheens, nearly had me in tears when he said if asked he would walk,he forgot to say that he would pick up his cheque for a cool half million on the way out the door. Half a million to do nothing not a bad gig, although he has being doing that for a while now when you think of it.

Has to go this week, even if it means we put a one year caretaker in the job till we nail the right man,but we have to get the playing group out of this comfort zone their in and start demanding some real focus and effort, get them out of the media and onto the gym

Time for Tigers, Sheens to go in different ways

One of the things proved by the sorry exit of Wests Tigers over the last two rounds - apart from the fact they weren't up to it this year and the team and coach Tim Sheens have been together too long - is that Robbie Farah is the most important player in the team. No disrespect to Benji Marshall, but so much of what the Tigers do starts with Farah and his great decision-making and skill out of dummy half, particularly inside the opposition's 20-metre area. Marshall also seems more prone to error when Farah is not there, perhaps from trying too hard in his absence. That was the way it looked against Melbourne. Farah missed the losses to the Storm and Sydney Roosters with a broken hand. Yesterday, via Twitter, Farah admitted: ''We weren't good enough this year and we have a lot of work to do. #noexcuses''. He also asked Tigers fans to stick solid, saying: ''Everyone is gutted how it has panned out but you find out the true character of people during the tough times. Hope to see you all get behind us in 2013\. #longoffseason''. The thing about the Tigers, though, is that in recent years there has developed a certain sameness about them. The window of opportunity, when it comes to winning a premiership, has probably shut on them until there is serious change.

UNDER-PRESSURE Wests Tigers coach Tim Sheens may be shopped around to the New Zealand Warriors.

The Daily Telegraph understands Sheens will meet Tigers chief executive Stephen Humphreys and chairman Davod Trodden this week to discuss the club's horrible season.

Pre-season favourites, Wests Tigers won 11 of 24 games this year to miss the NRL finals.

Sheens' position at the club was heavily discussed at a recent Wests Tigers board meeting. He still has two years remaining on his current deal - the payout and expense of hiring a new coach could cost the club about $1 million.

Wests Tigers are financial battlers, although the new broadcast deal will give all clubs some financial freedom.

Sources close to the Warriors are aware Sheens' future at Concord has suddenly become clouded. The Warriors are watching the situation closely.

Wests Tigers officials are publicly supporting Sheens, despite the Tigers end-of-season misery.

Some figures at the Tigers though feel Sheens has achieved all he can at the club and that the playing group is stale.

There isn't though an enormous amount of well credentialed coaches on the open market at the moment. If Sheens wanted to leave for Auckland, the club wouldn't stand in his way.

Humphreys said Sheens position was "not under review".

The Warriors are searching for a new coach after punting Brian McClennan a month ago.

The Warriors have also been linked to Melbourne coach Craig Bellamy. Bellamy has another season remaining at AAMI Park and would be reluctant to leave the Storm playing group. He is particularly close to Melbourne's 'big three'– Cooper Cronk, Billy Slater and Cam Smith.

Bellamy has also been linked to the Sydney Roosters, who are expected to part company with Brian Smith after next season.

Sheens has won four premierships to stamp himself among the coaching elite. He has though made the finals just three times in the past 15 years. Sheens masterminded Wests Tigers stunning grand final win in 2005 but the club has failed to reach any similar heights since.

Tigers legend Steve Roach told Channel 10's The Game Plan that Sheens should be moved on.

I think the fact that the Warriors are coachless could mean Sheens will go. If he doesn't go now and we have another bad season next year and he gets punted then, he might not find it as easy to walk into another job.

My concern is that if he takes over NZ, Marshall could follow.

He has no clause in his contract anymore, which is probably why he had his breakdown when Sheens almost signed with Penrith cos he realized he didn't have any leverage. But if he wants to follow Sheens bad enough let him go. If he does it proves that he's here only for Sheens not his love for the club and proves he's just another Darius Boyd having to follow Daddy around. The way he played this yr he won't be any loss

I say let both Benj and his mate go - as GNR4LIFE said, the way Benji played and the way his mate coached, I might add, they will not be a loss to us..Where is the collection point, I'd like to start to contribute to whatever money may be needed…

You sack Sheens and we will be in a rebuilding phase for 2 or 3 years with absolutely no guarantee of success at the end of it and we could be struggling for years. Sheens still attracts the players who want to play under him. Especially now with an increased cap to come we can still attract these players. My only gripe with Sheens is letting Gibbs go for whatever reason. Gibbs was tiger through and through and the workhorse we missed this year. We do need more depth in key areas but the players and coach now have motivation for next year. We can turn it around immediately . Tedesco , Sironen, Korobete, Woods and other juniors need a mentor like Sheens to guide them. Combine them with Lawrence, Benji and Farah ,and hopefully Blair sorts himself out, we can be lethal again.
Add Anasta to the mix, though we still need a Gibbs type player and a replacement for Ellis. Another top class centre is probably needed as Ayshford has been disappointing this year.
If we do sack Sheens he must be replaced with a Bennet, Gould, Bellamy type of coach otherwise there will be lean years ahead.
What does need a rebuild is the referees ranks! and their coach!
Also an injury free run would be nice for a change!

Not necessarily. Canterbury and Souths entered this season with basically the same roster as the preceding year and look at how they have turned out. A change of coach can make a world of difference.

7 times out of 10 we havnt finished in the top half of the comp, the current squad has underachieved. Constant reshuffling and an inability to lift the team for big games leaves us with no choice. When does he become accountable?.

I agree.

But over the last few days , based on Comments made by Tim, i dont think he would mind if they did sack him ,

I think he is now looking at Bennett and Hasler and is suffering from salary Envy, if some big money got sent his way i think he would be asking for a release .

I think Wests would be the big losers , as it is going to be extremely difficult for any potential coache top come in and command the respect of the players and get results .

If we miss the 8 next year i would i be suggesting it is time for Sheen's to get a tap on the shoulder .

why not get Ron Massey, to attend Concord, and assist Tim Sheens.
as we know he was Jack Gibsons, offsider.

just having his presence there, might get it all together.
