Sack Sheens Thread

If the board and Humphries don't act we are just going to be in an even bigger mess..

Sadly, it's all erupted and supporters and possibly players are jack of it and we need a fresh change .

Sure, we may not see instant results with a coach change but long term we will be better off because we are stale and won't be any worse of. Likely 2013 could be much worse with the same coach … We need strong leadership now to make the big calls but it seems we are just shopping guys around and shuffling deck chairs and not doing what is needed which is a new direction and some better recruitment

All these articles about Heighno and Ryan… Why can't we manage our salary cap? Another sheens / Humphrey bear failure!

From the outside looks like the Tigers are a rabble.
Who is running the joint? Triguboff, Sheens, Robbie, Benji, Humphreys, Yogi Bear?

No "established" Balmain Leagues club at Rozelle, three home grounds, coach who has lost the plot, best player playing like a zombie, contracted players in limbo.

Everyone except Sheens thinks he is a liability.

A lot seems to have changed with the fabric of the club. Right now we resemble the way the Roosters run their ship and i've always despised the way the Roosters have continually shown no loyalty or heart. It concerns me a lot that we are showing those same signs.

As much as i do believe Sheens should move on, the blame does not lay only on Sheens but obviously Humphreys who needs to show stronger leadership. The biggest isssue the club has is the coach, he's part of the reason we have salary cap issues because of his failed recruitment choices. The buck must always stop with the coach. He is the one who orchestrates the musical, Like a shepherd who guides his sheep. The players and their play are a true reflection of their coach. It's a simple as that. I believe a lot of our issues would be solved with a coaching change. The hard part is getting the right coach.

… Huge fail on the recruitment department, is that still Warren Mcdonnell ? The bloke who signed his own son up many years ago over other promising fullbacks? maybe his time is up too!!!

Let's not forget he is also the bloke who signed his own cousin up. That hasn't gone so good either, so perhaps he should move on before his next family reunion.

Check out this article, it pretty much sums up all my feelings on the matter.

I think there's a lot of people who feel the same way, and we need to be heard.

This just posted on League Central, for whatever credence we give the Telegraph. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/tim-sheenss-ten-year-reign-at-wests-tigers-under-threat/story-e6frexnr-1226477599616

WESTS Tigers and coach Tim Sheens could part ways as early as today.
>
The Daily Telegraph understands a board meeting scheduled for tonight could end Sheens' 10-year reign at the Concord club.
>
Sheens has been under immense pressure since his side - NRL pre-season favourites - crashed out of contention before this year's NRL finals.
>
It is understood that senior figures feel the club must bring in a new coach for 2013 or face another season of mediocrity.
>
Wests Tigers sources hope Sheens can land the vacant New Zealand Warriors job to avoid having to sack him.
>
He still has another two years remaining on his contract but the Tigers hope an easy and financially-friendly settlement can be reached.
>
A replacement coach has already been discussed with Sheens' future the subject of consternation for the past three weeks. Sheens was aware he had a tough fight to remain head coach for next season.
>
He could still survive - but it is highly unlikely.
>
Peter Gentle and Nathan Brown have been mentioned as possible replacements but are unlikely to win the plum job. Mick Potter is another.
>
Wests Tigers attracted enormous fan criticism this week by releasing centre Beau Ryan and back-rower Chris Heighington, two of their best this season.
>
Ryan has joined Cronulla, Heighington is expected to follow. Sheens, to his credit, felt the need to "shake up" his roster after a season of disappointment.
>
Social websites have exploded in recent days calling for Sheens to leave the club immediately.
>
Sheens has the support of his players and coaching staff but it is understood that he doesn't, as of last night, have the unanimous support at board level.
>
Wests Tigers board members hope he will leave with dignity and composure.
>
Sheens guided Wests Tigers to the 2005 premiership - beating North Queensland in the grand final - but the club has been unable to reach lofty heights since.
>
New Zealand Warriors management are known to be interested in Sheens although the Test coach has said he would be reluctant to shift base to Auckland.
>
Sheens has won four premierships - one with Wests Tigers and three at Canberra - and is one of rugby league's great survivors. He has coached since 1984.
>
However many believe Wests Tigers players need to hear a "fresh voice" in 2013.
>
Club sponsors are known to be restless with the results and decision to allow Ryan and Heighington to walk away.
>
Wests Tigers players never clicked into gear this year and are now watching the play-offs on television.
>
The Tigers are poised to re-sign winger Lote Tuqiri and sign prop Brent Kite from Manly.

Thanks for 10years but it's time for you to go.. Nobody is bigger than the club.. Stop being so stubborn and pack your bags before we pack it for you.

I hear from a source close to the Junior squads, that Tiger Tim has a problem with handling CONFRONTATION - from the players, or from anyone else.
Remember the CEO before Humphries, he was a knowledgable & successful Sports Administrator who went out the door very quickly (within 6 months…), because he attempted to create KPI's! So Tigerpete perhaps Humprheys leadership suffered by not being able to overcome what many other's have also not been able to.

Apparently that's where Roycey filled the gap, between coach & players. Being the blokey bloke, he'd step in & talk to the players when they're was a bit of unrest! Im not saying Roycey needs to be back in, but if the coach sits in his office & doesn't have an open door there's likely to be issues...
Time will tell.

Further to Dean Richie's article in the tele today,he just reported on FOX that the WestsTigers will try and scrape enough cash to send Sheens packing, this would result in not enough cash to buy a respected coach,so his street corner tip for the job is a cheap Matt Parish.
Maybe good,a former tiger,a blues assistant and Ricky's offsider at Parra next year, what do you think?

Woah, woah, woah….lets take a step back here. the CEO before Humphreys was NOT a "knowledgable & successful Sports Administrator". His highest position previous was in marketing at Sharks. He had never held a higher position. He was vastly inexperienced and that was what his downfall was. Humphreys in contrast has significant business experience in organisations much bigger than

It will never happen of course, for a hundred or so reasons, but wouldn't it be nice to clear out the whole whingeing lot of them and promote Todd Payten and the NYC boys to first grade. They mostly have bright futures ahead of them, don't cost much to feed, do what the coach tells them, and after next week they will all have grand finals experience! Sigh…..

UNDER-pressure Wests Tigers coach Tim Sheens might have survived a marathon three-hour board meeting Thursday night - but he is still fighting desperately for his career.
The Daily Telegraph exclusively revealed yesterday that Sheens' 10-year Tigers reign was under threat.

Tigers board members entered a meeting at 6.30pm at their Concord Oval offices and emerged at 9.30pm unable to confirm or deny whether Sheens, who has two years remaining on his contract, would be sacked.

The drama comes after revelations Tigers players met on Monday at The Oaks in Neutral Bay where they spoke about losing confidence in their coach.

It is understood the board was presented with several options, one being that Sheens be permitted to leave immediately to coach New Zealand Warriors.

The major issue is whether the financially struggling club can find enough money for a hefty pay-out to Sheens, the Kangaroos coach.

Wests Tigers chief executive Steve Humphreys emerged late last night from the meeting to say: "Nobody in any part of our club is satisfied with the 2012 performance and we're all committed to doing everything we can to ensure improved results.

"Over the course of the last week there has been considerable public comment about the issue of player retention and recruitment as well as speculation regarding the future of our head coach.

"As you would expect we will complete our review process and agree our future plans in a prompt but orderly fashion to ensure the best possible outcome for our club. It would be inappropriate for us to make any further comment at this time."

Pressed on Sheens' future, Humphreys said: "We understand the interest in that topic and speculation that surrounds it. But while we want to address that promptly, we put a higher priority on having the review and getting the right outcomes.

"Tim wants to stay involved, Tim loves the game, loves our club and would love to stay involved. But we need to review all aspects of the business and we're getting close to a conclusion on that."

Going into the meeting, there were suggestions that Sheens would not have the numbers to survive. Sheens though is adamant he will not walk.

The Daily Telegraph was told that Manly and NSW assistant Matt Parish was favourite to take over if Sheens was shifted.

Parish is a rising coach with immense ability. He is a former Balmain player whose father Don played and coached the Western Suburbs Magpies and represented Australia.

Other candidates being discussed include Nathan Brown, Dean Pay, Jim Dymock and Mick Potter.

Manly is aware Parish will leave after this season, being linked to Parramatta as Ricky Stuart's assistant. Some at Wests Tigers hope Sheens will walk away quietly with a handsome pay-out.
