Sack Sheens Thread

I hate how Benji keeps saying Sheens is the best coach in the world. Who else has Benji played under? A handful of NZ matches with Stephen Kearney? Puh-lease

If Sheens is offered and accepts the Warriors coaching job, does he still get a payout from WT? Wouldn't it be that he broke his coaching contract as opposed to the WT club broke the contract?

More likely Warriors would buy his contract out and warriors pay him on same basis…that is if he was decent about it and Warriors didn't have any nasty clauses like Kpi that had to be met. If he wanted to be hard nosed he would claim a payout in addition to cover his arse in case the Warriors didn't work out

In hindsight, he was never going to be sacked last night without another coaching option for the club being available. Essentially the Board would have been presented with the repercussions of sacking Sheens and options on the market. I doubt a search has started for a replacement, but it will occur as part of the review.

Does not take 3 hours to look at the options as all of them should have been circulated for reading prior to the meeting. Humphreys stated all parts of the business were discussed. I think the financial situation dominated the meeting. Boards don't spend 3 hours talking about one senior staff member.

Agree GB..the thing I wonder about is if we are having salary cap probs now & having to ALLOW contracted players to see if they can get a better/longer contract elsewhere can anyone imagine the carnage that would have had to happen if we had signed Lewis?

Salary cap was not the financial issues I was thinking. I reckon we are down on revenue expectations and have made a loss.

Sheens was very defiant in his closing days at north queensland and it took a good amount of time to remove him from there.

All leaders have a strong belief that they are in the absolute right.Sheens has this in bucketloads.

There is too much negativity surrounding the club for this stalemate to continue. Its all about money, and when this is resolved we will see a change in coaching personel.

Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Not sure I have this right but wests tigers is A JV between balmain & west football clubs and relies on funding from these clubs to run the business. Each club has an obilgation to contribute around 500k per year to the JV. Assume the NRL then provides additional monies to west tigers which predominately is spent on players salaries. Is this right?

Further to Dean Richie's article in the tele today,he just reported on FOX that the WestsTigers will try and scrape enough cash to send Sheens packing, this would result in not enough cash to buy a respected coach,so his street corner tip for the job is a cheap Matt Parish.
Maybe good,a former tiger,a blues assistant and Ricky's offsider at Parra next year, what do you think?

He's been mentioned, in the tele, as favourite for the job again today. As well as being Blues assistant, he's been working under Toovey at Manly all year. Has big wraps on him apparently. To be honest, 851, any change would be good - I just wish it would come soon so all this turmoil can stop and WT can start the season fresh, structured and ready to play every week. A person who has reached middle age should really know when it's time to walk. I really can't understand why Sheens keeps digging his heels in, especially when he now knows many people don't want him there anymore.
