This young man is potentially our next star. In one set when we lifted in the second half, he made four tackles in one set as Souths attempted to lift coming off their line. These weren't grabs but driving tackles in response to the urgency required to lift. In the next set he made three. Maguire brought him back on later in the second half for another stint. Grant and Brooks rightly get accolades but impact comes from McIntyre. He is the leader.

McIntyre made the try saver under our posts late in the second half when we had 11.

He's coming a long nicely. I like that he's not a stats-padder. Too many stats padders in the NRL these days. His tackles are effective and they look like they hurt.

I really hope that extension comes through for him. What is obvious are the glaring deficiencies in the forward pack's defence early on. Souths easily rolled through our middle with Aloiai, Mikaele and Twal all hanging back and waiting for them to cross the advantage line. It was always going to end in disaster with the likes of Murray and Cook who thrive off quick play the ball.

It was no coincidence the tide turned when McIntyre and Eiso came on. Line speed suddenly appeared and we held the ruck. There needs to be some tweaking to the forward pack next year and for mine McIntyre has just about walked into the starting 13, as a 13. I'd be looking at moving Twal back to prop.

The demand in the market place is going up at a sharp rate for Young Sam. Just hope the deal we table is accepted. Every club are on the lookout for a budget to mid range signing who has real potential.

I have to give credit to Madge for the improvement in some of our young players...
Harry had no real NRL experience coming out of a very strong system, under Madge he is thriving..
Sam was only ever considered a CC player ...how good is he going to be if he continues with us under Madge...
Im only mentioning these 2 young guns for this discussion because Madge copped a fair bit about losing the dressing room, being a hard taskmaster and most of the players couldnt handle his coaching regime..
Its obvious to me that a lot of the squad are bennefitting greatly from Madge and the last 2 games have seen a marked improvement in the teams resilience ...

I don’t think he’ll ever be a ‘star’ he isn’t that type of player however he is very reliable player who always work his butt off when he’s on the field. Perfect bench forward

Guy is as tough as teak and has the old fashioned mongrel in him. Looks like a guy that has that mental streak, likes get hurt and likes it even more to hurt someone else.

Makes every tackle count. Hopefully we can get some more minutes out of him next year.

Especially with Gallen watching on last night. Sharks are after a 13.

He made that try-saver, looked like he'd fractured something in his arm and yet was still running over to tackle Johnston on the wing when he dropped it over the line. The bloke is a star!

You are wrong Josh - he is going to be a lot more than a bench forward.

I think he is going to be (without going overboard and maybe not as good) another Finucane type lock.

Hits hard and often, knows where he is on the field and what is going on, and being a former centre has a good passing game.

Just needs to work on hit ups and keeping the legs pumping, not bad at the moment but he is only 22, will improve immensely.

The sky is the limit for him

Scary he’s only getting 30 odd minutes a game aswell

I hope you’re right. Not saying he’s going to be an average player, I think he’s gonna be a really good player but yeah until he can make some more metres with his runs he’s a great option off the bench.

He works so hard on the field and that’s the stuff Madge would love, throws himself into every tackle and does the 1% stuff. He will keep improving and if he could get to Finucane levels I would he stoked. Happy to give him a two year deal or more.

One thing I noticed about his hit ups is he has good footwork. He tries to find the space between the defenders instead of mindlessly bashing into an opponent's chest.
