It was his dad that taught Sam how to tackle and his grandfather taught his dad the technique!
What I like most about his defence is he always competes and won’t stop till he gets them on there back.
He also has plenty of running meters in him just doesn’t get enough ball, any body notice how many decoy and supports he does?

Could definitely improve his metres per run but the more he plays and trains the better he will get. Hope he is extended ASAP

I think Sam could be developed into a ball playing, hard running lock - he seems to have the skill set. His D is good and he is more of a competitor in his nature than some of our other lock options. A full preseason working under Madge will see results.
Twal is not that type of lock IMO and should go back into the prop rotation developing his work rate and offload. Twal has a good motor when fully fit and could churn out some good minutes. I think the pack would benefit from Mikaele working off the bench with Aloiai -Tamou and Twal starting.
Fingers crossed we can add Hetherington as Tamou alone will not give us what we lack.

I don’t think he’ll ever be a ‘star’ he isn’t that type of player however he is very reliable player who always work his butt off when he’s on the field. Perfect bench forward

You are wrong Josh - he is going to be a lot more than a bench forward.

I think he is going to be (without going overboard and maybe not as good) another Finucane type lock.

Hits hard and often, knows where he is on the field and what is going on, and being a former centre has a good passing game.

Just needs to work on hit ups and keeping the legs pumping, not bad at the moment but he is only 22, will improve immensely.

The sky is the limit for him

Scary he’s only getting 30 odd minutes a game aswell

This is the thing with Madge,he knows how much Sam has improved with limited minutes, because there is no CC this year Madge is developing him slowly so he gets everything right when he is on the field..

His progress is unbelievable

I know a bloke who coached McIntyre and Garner through the juniors. He told me a year ago McIntyre will end up the better player. Might not be much, but it wasn’t long ago people were frothing over Garner aswell

If Kevin Hardwick took steroids and shaved off his hair, trimmed down his goatee, he'd be a larger and less hairy Kevin Hardwick.

But also, he'd look a lot like an old Sam McIntyre.

Don't forget about Musgrove.

Just not sure about Musgrove, AT. Haven’t really seen enough of him to include him in front of the others I mentioned. Him and Stefano to fight it out for a bench spot.

I remember at the start of the year him bookending with TM was fantastic....our forwards got a lot of metres. I look forward to him coming back.

You seem to have a strong connection to him. Yes he does run alot of decoys and support runs - He will be a great player in the future.

I do, started playing footie with his dad when we were 6, so a fair bit of history there.

Well on behalf of the forum please pass on our well wishes and hope that Sam sticks around for a few more years. WT would be mad to let him go.
