Samuela Fainu #280

How do u do that , it’s like two burger shops 50 meters apart, one gets free ingredients from the government the other has to pay for it , who comes out ahead , I hope it doesn’t hurt ur brain to get the answer
Maybe a better comparison is one burger shop in Australia and the other in PNG (with this one getting free ingredients)

The whole Luai saga has become a joke and very poorly handled by Benji and the Tigers management.
When he signed the PNG contract he should have immediately been “rested”, in KOE or running the water.
It’s too late now, Benji is just showing his man management skills still need a lot of work.
I just read Brailey saying, the chance to work with Benji was a motivating factor in his decision. That’s about player no 20 who’ve said that but nothing has come of it on the field !
You cant drop players that take up an option to play elsewhere in 18months time (until we decided to punt him for next yr) we agreed to those out clauses and other potential players are watching how we treat ours.

When was the last time this happened?
It rarely happens if ever.

My concern with going all in for Samuela (by sounds we are) what happens when he wants out. We do this over & over & get burnt every time. Gave the keys to the castle to the “big 4” the 3 good ones left, gave Ivan the keys to the castle & he left, gave the keys to Jarome & he is going. The ramifications that has come with those departures contributed in a big way to our lack of success. I love Sammy & all the Fainu boys but geez if he was to go after we throw everything at him & build our cap around him we could be in all sorts of trouble. In saying that we need to keep the brothers here

Brent Read on Code NRL tried to say Sam is looking at $1.2 million a year …and thinks the Tigers might pay it …

Even Riccio seemed to talk Read down from that lofty heights 😂

If the club pays him that …seriously pack it up 😂…they gotta pay three brothers too…

They can't be serious, wonder where he got that Intel, 900k max he wants his brother fresh out of gaol to join the club does he want his cake and eat it too.

Don't be so damn greedy, fair dinkum.

Benji will sign off on 1.2, partly because he fits the bro culture but mostly because that's what desperate coaches and desperate clubs do......

See other example, extending an unproven Benji to 2030.......enough said.....

If we pay more than 850k we are paying overs, 1.2 million who does he think he is Payne Hass? I thought the bros wanted to play together under the bro Benji and not all about the money its about the culture 😉
And who do you think is going to go to come / stay at WTs that is even close to him for any less?

Ahh, ok, your solution is to keep paying overs to players and have an unhealthy salary cap, and then we can all complain why we don't have a competitive squad because we over pay players and the soloution is to stick to this cycle because we dont want to lose players who put on the bro culture face on camera but really couldnt give a flying F**k about building any culture itself. Far out, it's like we have been trying this for 15 years without success, and the solution is to keep doing it!

What you have described is a ingrained club issue long before this new blame the "bro culture"pile on starting getting traction.Cleary and Maguire both faced the same difficulties in signing quality players and paid overs or took risks with players that were past it.
If you think losing Samuela is going to attract players to the club it will do the reverse. It will strengthen another club and reinforce the belief that good players see no future at WTs.
Quality players create a winning culture and then no one gives a rats about the "bro" tag or any other catch phrase that is affiliated with a losing culture.[/QUOTE]

Doesn’t mean it shouldn’t Ink, just my thoughts, which as usual seem to be quite a way from yours, as you regularly point out.
Itsnjust a discussion hal...we all have our thoughts no reason to get offended if someone has a differing one

Something that rarely or never happens generally shouldnt happen.
Good one hal

I understand why clubs dont do it.
Rheres lots of money involved.
Sponsors to appease etc

Im as off him as the next bloke but can see the clubs pov

Before everyone cracks it, Read & Riccio are notorious for inflating figures to get headlines & clicks. He could also be referring to what his salary could be with the new cap +20%.
