A little off topic, but for mine, SBS provide great programming, so much so that I would watch it more than the commercial networks combined. Variety, rather than US sitcoms and dancing, bs renovation or cooking shows.

As far as the US goes, it is the only country that I have visited, to which I have no desire to return, except maybe the Hawaiin islands. I was so disappointed when there, seeing a totally different country than the one which as a child I had been taught to look up to, was actually quite devastating. Only gone downhill way further in my mind since then as well.

Formerguest,I just had two friends return form the USA and they say the same as you,things such as food in the supermarket are cheap,alcohol freely available in every corner store or supermarket,clothing cheap etc.etc….the one big thing they say is wages are about $4.50 an hour and the workers have to rely on tips..

That's true Jerry, he did and it was wrong, also. However, I do think there is a significant difference between the severity of the slurs. Being called a bogan is pretty mild really compared to the questioning a person's worth and value as a son or daughter, simply because of what they believe.
