I know we have the likes of Lui and Lazarus as upcoming halfbacks for the future, but if Lui fails to provide what we need of him, I'd love to see us make a play for Porter, at least for the remainder of this season.

He won't come at a very high price I wouldn't imagine, I'm not sure what his contract with the Sharks is like. He is a solid halfback, I'm a big fan of his. He has a good kicking game and a solid passing game, he will give us exactly what we need IMO. Since he's not getting any time at the Sharks with Tim Smith there, he might be interested.

Thoughts?

I heard last week (on the way to tiger v bulldogs game) that Tigers were looking at signing either Porter or Herbert. It was on the radio….and from an emailer so it has ZERO credebility but it could be something.

Hes a pretty average player which is obvious by the fact that he cant make first grade at Cronlla. However possibly wouldnt be a bad option for the remainder of the season but wouldnt want him for longer then that. Id say its pretty unlikey to happen though, I would much rather see Arana get his chance.

Stuart won't let porter go, even though he isn't in first grade Stuart still rates him. Barrett is retiring at end of this year, porter will be back in the team next year.

After watching him today driving the ultra competitive Sharks State Cup team around the park…..Ummm....No thanks

WIth Moltzen, Lui, Taumata and Lazarus on board, no thanks.

there is a very good chance 2 of them wont be here next year

AJ and Moltz are both on contract for next year,Lazzo is not though.

taumata only signed a one year deal didnt he? as for lazo word around the club is hes not happy at the moment

This would just be a silly signing, we have so much depth in the halfs it isn't even funny. We need forwards not backs. It annoys me the amount of money we have wasted on Daniela, Fitzhenry and Brown.

Both Porter and Herbert are only Pub Footballers. They will have a dig, but will get outclassed once the enthusiasm wears off and when defences set a game plan to shut them down.

NRL Level players go past that and re-create ways to place an emphasis on games…

2 Years…Lazzo was very happy at Leichhardt today....

poker face

There was an earlier post around here saying that Canberra were interested in Lazarus. Taumata is here for 2 years and provided he gets a shot in FG, which could be pretty soon given Lui has been pushed back a further 2 weeks with his ankle, he could be around longer if he goes well.

i thought it was one year with the second in the clubs favor? either way i hope he stays he will be a great utility

I think the second year option is right. I guess it all depends if he gets a go in FG this year and impresses. The ankle injury to start the season hasn't helped. It would be great to see him go well and stick around though.

Did Arana play yesterday?
