Scotty Prince unwanted at Titans!

Obviously some deeper issues at the Gold Coast that a lot of good people on here are annoyed at.

But back to Prince.

Scott Prince was great for us.He captained our first premiership team **and put in 100% in 2006.**

He left for family reasons.

Let him be.

Good luck to him in the future.I wouldn't begrudge him anything.

I disagree with this, he was very ordinary in 2006, and it's the main gripe most people on here have with him.

Fonz would have him back for sure.

I am guessing that Fonz would partner him in the halves with Lui and have Benji at fullback.

The problem is cash. Most of you would remember the story 7 months ago of WT trying to get a unknown 2005 Grand Final player back, well this is him. But the story was not quite right. His status was definately discussed but nothing in the form of an offer was made , as what I was told.

A Gold Coast guy spruiked it to a Courier Mail guy that the Giants were in the hunt for Cronk and that Prince would be at Wests.

The rest is history.

he left us to play for them for less money didn't he?

Apparently :unamused:

I just don't get where a lot of this Prince hate comes from if he went there on less money. Everything that was told at the time was that his missus hated being in Sydney and wanted to move back home.

Interesting, but it's all talk since we don't have the cash to do it by the sounds?

A player manager told me that WT just asked what he was doing and that was it.

Prince would have to take a huge pay cut to play with WT. It will never happen anyway as the guy is one of the tightest around.

I thought he was great in 2005 but in 06 i didnt think he had a go to often, but maybe it just seemed that way but what bug says about a former tigers player coming back to the tigers @ the start of the year was a big rumour & it was supposed to be Prince. As for taking him back now that wont happen & the Gold Coast owe him to much MONEY, & the boss Mrs Prince wouldnt moove back to sydney.

I love robert lui, but to have scot prince back with benji would be aursome. I believe the tigers is his home.

I thought that 'back home' for Prince was Mt. Isa, not the tourist strip.

Yep he is a Mount Isa boy Leroy
Won't hold that against him as well

They had an interview with him on the Gold Coast news tonight. He said he wasn't going anywhere and it was just people stiring up stories to kick the Titans while they were down.

Which probably means he is ready to sign elsewhere as early as next week!

Same thing happens each year at the Tigers when there is a form slump. The media generally tries to create smoke when there isn't necessarily anything other than the team's confidence being shot.

No hate for Scotty here… he led us to our first premiership! I guess I can feel bitter, if it wasn't for the Tigers throwing the guy a lifeline, he would have retired early...

Remember this -> http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport/nrl/nrl-probe-alleged-salary-cap-rort-involving-scott-prince/story-e6frep5x-1225846198416

I don't believe he would have signed on with them when the Tigers apparently offered him 100k more a season... seriously...

Dudes,

Please, this is hardly a scoop. Word of this hit the streets before the comp started this year. WT were first to make contact and I can tell you for a fact that they entered brief negotiations back then. But the big problem is this. The Gold Coast owe Prince a lot of money. Money from the past that he was promised and huge money in the next 3 seasons. Mick Searle, goodluck old son.

Talk of a year or two in Sydney is not out of the question according to the feedback so far.

The Gold Coast will Fold within 3 years. There are serious problems happening up their which we will hear about in the next few months.

Bug is on the mark with this one The Gayfl team the Suns is already outdrawing the Titans crowds and the rumours that that Titans were in a financial mess last season were closer to the mark than they were letting on Three years is probably a bit soon but 5 years definitely I will be surprised to see the Titans still standing unless they get bailed out by NRL or a benefactor

WOW that is a surprise….the Titans supposedly had the "perfect business model" and were hailed as the Glamour club with perfect training facilities, sponsorships coming out of their pockets....they had the whole Gold Coast to themselves....what's happened?...

It's a curious case.

The Suns and Titans have underperformed this year, and yet the Suns drawing bigger crowds. The Titans have been a mainstay in the finals series for the last couple of years and were one game off the grand final last year.

The novelty of the Suns being the new thing on the Gold Coast may wear off, but I find it pretty disturbing now that it looks to be three Gold Coast League franchises that look to be gone to the wall (Seagulls, Chargers & now possibly the Titans.)

Titans are playing badly, and the tickets prices are ridiculously high to see them live at Skilled. Suns were always going to get decent crowds first year in.

If I recall, the Chargers had money in the bank at the end. They were forced out due to the new league requirements they couldn't meet.
