Second rowers/centres

Sue has to gain weight and play front row.

Hes not agile enough on the edge.

Has hoffman got a couple of years left in him? might be alright if he accepted a lower salary.

I think the experiment with Sue in the back row has to end, but I think our coach is too pig headed to change it. Although he's picking up valuable plodder of the year points I would say.

Why would you say the coach is pig headed?

I think the main problem is we have a decent pool of props both mainstay and emerging - Woods, Ava, Tim Grant, Felise, Tatola, Paseka, Mikaele, Lolo. I do agree Sue really belongs there too and Josh Aloiai seems to be developing into prop build as well.

JT doesn't have the dynamic or power backrower and honestly they are hard to come by. Would love Boyd Cordner or Papalii but we have to be realistic here. Ellis was a terrific and one-time signing, Dwyer was the next man, he's 28 now, and players like that don't grow on trees.

So I can understand Taylor trying to work one of his props into a more mobile backrower, sometimes you have to work with the cattle you have that season e.g. use of Halatau, JLJ.

I think Sue is a weak wide defender, he moves too late. And he's strong but he doesn't run onto the ball hard enough for someone who's not a total slouch in a straight line. Sue goes well when he takes tough hitups through the guts, but I'm sick of seeing him standing still when they give him the ball close to the line.

we are going to struggle to keep who we want let alone attract anyone else to the club. The club is a basket case especially when woods gets on TV and states that the big three and a half wont commit until they know who the coach is going to be next year. Time for Pascoe to tell the players what he has in mind so they can give their commitment or not and then see who or what is the best option. Sounds to me that Woods and the others are not quite set on Taylor.

you are right about this club.

WouldIvan Cleary being coach get players to come?

He has a good rapore with warriors and panthers. Might be able to snag a few more bigger signings.

See how taylor goes though this year.

But if Woods and Tedesco want Taylor to stay , replacing him with Cleary would set us back to square 1

I think Felise would be more mobile to play second row than Suasua….but then again he can't find his way into the team at present.

He would command double what we pay JT.
We can't afford players let alone some glorified supercoach that people think he is.

A coach can only do so much with the resources provided.
Brooks and Moses shouldn't have a say who's coach. They haven't earnt that right yet.
I hate this kind of mindset from today's players. Your employed by the club and your coach will be who we want it to be.

I dont think we should be talking about players influencing decisions on who the coach is going to be.

I recall somethings like that being said and players being singled out and accused of thinking they were bigger than the club and blah blah blah..

its okay to have a player recruitment wish list, but where does the money come from.

we are constantly reminded about the big 4 resigning,so i cant see the teams problem areas, centre and second row being remedied in the near future if the four are resigned.

i think moses or brooks or both have to go.the bigger sides take advantage of the teams small halves and backline.
the team follows a consistent pattern- a good performance followed by a bad one.all supporters have seen the same pattern in the past two to three years.

Wishlist = 2x second rowers
2 x centres
1x halfback
(One recruit has to kick goals)

We have the weakest players in the comp in all above positions.

Yep we need all these blokes, and definitely someone who is a reliable goal kicker :rant

The Storm centres were so good defensively. Not big name centres and not great attacking players but they both read the game well and never gave up . Go after them.

Will Chambers is close to the best centre in the NRL. Cheese Blair was a Lemon before he got to Melbourne. I would stay away from Storm players they are better coached and work off future immortals.

Yeah Chambers has played for Queensland and Australia and will be in the frame for Queensland again this year with Inglis out injured, he's a big name centre.

Cheyse Blair seemed like a nuffie before going to Melbourne although to be honest I never really followed him closely, that was just a general impression I had which probably wasn't helped by how stupidly his name is spelt. He was an Aus schoolboys rep and has good pace for a player of his size (>100kg and 6'4"). It might be that he always had the potential to do well but wasn't getting the opportunities due to playing for a crap side in Parra and then being stuck behind an international backline at Manly.

WT have to sort out who is going to coach FG next season, unfortunately I don't see JT as a draw card for players wanting to come to our club.

Money will stop quality coming to the club, not coach.
But if players think they can push the club into sacking their boss then we have a problem.

I know there a lot of issues in this team. Watching the other day showed me the deficiencies we have at second row and centre.

Idras is 4-5 weeks away from playing 60 minutes let alone 80\. Naquaima is a liability. Suli is a centre but wont we there for at least a season. Are there any centres in lower grades? on the market?

Srcond row is where we are really struggling. Lawrence would be a perfect bench utility. Sue is too slowand one dimensional to be on a edge. Assuming fromt row rotation of woods/ seu and grant/sue, our second row stocks are lawrence, aloili, and the red head ( forget his name).
That is the worst second row in the comp. We need to buy 2 decent second rowers asap.

Jack de balin just resigned. Finnucin will stay with Storm. I know were interested in old mate from gold coast as well.

Who is left? Any second rowers/centres we can nab from other teams?

Centres & outside backs the Tigers could nab - James Roberts, Dane Gagai, David Mead, Aaron Gray,
Tim Lafai & Johnny Tuivasa - Sheck.
