So am I right in saying IF we get to the GF our only opponents can be from Manly, Saints or Brisbane?

The Mcintyre system is a joke. The AFL system is much fairer. If I was a Brisbane fan I would be nervous playing the dragons next week!! it's the second week of the finals and Brisbane who finished higher than us plays a team who finished higher (dragons) then the team we play in the second week (warriors) if Melbourne win today!! How is that fair.
Works out well for the tigers of course, but if we had come third I would be dirty!!!

I was listening to Triple M this afternoon and they came up with a good point about the McIntyre System.
Two of the winners from Week 1 - Tigers and Brisbane - get NO advantage and NO reward above the teams they beat.
The NRL will argue a home final in Week 2 is their reward … But the Tigers and Brisbane are now in the same position as the teams they beat in Week 1.
With the AFL system where they split the top 8 into top 4 and bottom 4, all the winners have an advantage over the teams they beat.
With the top 4, the winners get a week off. The losers from the top 4 need to play another match to get through to the prelims. With the bottom 4, the winners survive another week and the losers are eliminated. There's no relying on other results for the rewards to be determined, they're known at the end of each match. No matter what the results, with a win you are guaranteed a reward, and a loss means you're penalised.
I know this rant is pretty pointless as David Gallop seems very stubborn on the system the NRL uses, just thought this was a different way of viewing Mcintyre's flaws.

I often wonder if the NRLs refusal to adopt the AFLs finals system is they dont want to be seen as following them.
The AFL used the macintyre system and dumped it in favour of their current one.

Personally I think the rewards should only go to the top 2 sides
If we went back to top 5 for example 4th gets you sudden death
The one thing I agree with Gus Gould on
Teams get rewarded for mediocrity in a top 8
I still think we could play everyone twice if we got rid of trials and finals and have an EPL finish where top team is top team
I also like the relegation idea but it would be very hard to bring a team up and have it competitive within 12 months
Maybe if we had a draft ….......
