Semi Finals Information.

Prefer to play at SFS anyway, better surface for night games that suits our style of play. ANZ is horrendous for night games!!

I much prefer the SFS, to ANZ, & im sure i speak for alot of Tigers fans – Yes it seems to be a common theme. I doubt I woud be a member if we played any games at ANZ.
If they setup the Home final well to make it feel like a HOME FINAL… And im sure that lifts the guys in the heat of the battle. eg. The bays in the middle of the ground kept as predominantly "TIGERS fans" secured bays …

The SFS hold close to 45k at last count, and even if we are to be playing another Sydney team, this should be sufficient to house the majority of those that want to go… A couple of thousand MAY miss out (compared to ANZ being able to jam in thousands MORE, but lacking atmosphere), but I think all solid fans will be buying tics at first light Monday!

ONE MORE BOX TO TIC, WIN ON SATURDAY Night boys…

Good luck for the rest of the season to Tim and the team.

bad decision. we got around 60,000 at anz stadium against dragons during the finals last year didnt we? alot of fans missed out when we played the dragons at sfs in 2005 during the finals. surely the nrl can make the game at anz, even if they have to compensate scg trust if we have a contract with them about playing home finals there

It was around the 72,000 mark

well there you go. the sfs only fits 45,500 people. shutting out over 20,000 people would not be good for the game.

Bank on it: blockbuster finals clash tipped for ANZ
Brad Walter
August 29, 2011.

ST GEORGE ILLAWARRA may not have to face Wests Tigers at the Sydney Football Stadium in the opening week of the finals if the Tigers finish fourth and host a home final against fifth-placed Dragons.

The premiers' 26-22 defeat of the Warriors at WIN Stadium yesterday puts Wayne Bennett's men on track to finish fifth if they beat Penrith on Friday night and either North Queensland or the Tigers lose.

With the Cowboys travelling to Auckland to play the Warriors this weekend and the Tigers meeting Gold Coast tonight and Cronulla on Saturday night, a Tigers-Dragons clash is being widely tipped to be the opening match of the finals series.

But whether the Tigers get to play at home if they finish fourth or are forced to shift the match to ANZ Stadium is up to the NRL.

NRL operations manager Nathan McGuirk said no decision on which grounds would host finals will be made until the final eight is known next weekend, but Sydney clubs do not get to play at home during the play-offs and must use either the SFS or ANZ Stadium.

If the NRL believes a Tigers-Dragons blockbuster would attract a bigger crowd at ANZ Stadium the match is likely to be played there, but if the Tigers played a team with lesser drawing power than St George Illawarra it would probably be at the SFS.

One problem the NRL are almost certain not to have to worry about is a Warriors home final going head to head with the opening match of the Rugby World Cup in Auckland.

To finish fourth, the Warriors need to not only beat the Cowboys next Saturday night but must rely on Penrith upsetting St George Illawarra at WIN Stadium and the Tigers dropping a game against either the Titans or Sharks.

''You get to the end of round 26 and you finish where you finish,'' Warriors coach Ivan Cleary said. ''We're still in there swinging, we will learn a little bit from today and go home and play the Cowboys next weekend in what is obviously another big game against a good team. We will obviously be match hardened come the finals, so that is a good thing to have.''

Captain Simon Mannering said: ''We are still in the finals … We have our last home game next week so we want to send our home fans off on a good note.''

Centre Shaun Berrigan failed to finish the match due to a hip injury but Cleary said he was hopeful the former Australian Test utility would be fit to play North Queensland.

It will be at the SFS no matter who we play…...........................

I was at both Wests tigers Vs Dragons semis in 2005 (SFS) and 2010 (ANZ)

2005 Semi was the greatest night of my life. End of story.

As for people missing out, my calculations are -
Tigers Members 10k,
Dragons Members 20k
Total = 30k

That leaves 15k for first in best dressed, people who miss out are either Non Members or Band Wagoners.

thats because Wests won in 2005 and lost in 2010

alien.

You got me bro ha ha ha .

But seriously (besides the result) SFS 2005 was a much better night atmosphere wise than ANZ IN 2010.

**_I WOULD EVEN SAY IT WAS BETTER THAN THE GRAND FINAL IN 2005_**.Atmosphere wise that is.

Say we win and the cowboys beat nz… we play the cowboys in 4th vs 5th... do we still have to play this game at the sfs... i was under the impression, the nrl can only move semi's of TWO sydney clubs to bigger grounds.
Or does manly have to play or there semis at the sfs too

Red Dogg,
Our only option was the SFS because of the contract we have with the SCG Trust.

Liechhardt and Campbelltown where never ever an option for us.

The NRL are the only one sprooking about ANZ,Wests Tigers always wanted it at THE SFS.

I was at both of those…2005 was obviously awesome because we won, but the fact that Dragons fans got the extra week to buy tickets meant there was a lot more red than orange/black in the crowd. That game was more satisfying than the GF in a way because Dragons were minor premiers...honestly who thought we'd lose to Cowboys after beating them by 50-odd three weeks before? lol

And good point about the members, if you miss out on tickets and you're not a member you get no sympathy from me. People who aren't members I consider "band wagoners" too. How we only have <10,000 members but get 20,000+ to games is beyond me!

Back to the topic, I'd prefer SFS. I work in the city so obviously that suits me, but I hate ANZ Stadium...the worst seat at SFS is nearly as good as the best seat at ANZ.

V8Tiger some great points my friend,i am with you on the no sympathy for those who miss out.

As i have previously stated that 2005 semi against the dragons was the greatest night of my life.Ever time i even thing about it i get a tear i my eye.

Please watch it is great…......

Not necessarily at the SFS, the NRL will decide.

PS. In your calculations for the SFS to subtract about 10-15K for SFS members - the whole upper tier on the western side and southern end.

Like you though, i hope it is at a packed SFS. First week of the finals on a Friday night, I doubt we would get many over 40,000 to be honest, regardless of the venue.

Last year's bumper crowd against saints at ANZ was on a Saturday night and therefore much easier for people to get to. 3 or 4 weeks ago, we drew 27,000 against the same team.

Pratten Park,
Thank you mate.I forgot about the SCG Trust members.

You are 100% correct this means that the only people likely to get a ticket are the members from the 2 clubs playing.

I feel this is a good thing.

The Members are rewarded for their years of support.
