Sending a message to the club

@supercoach said:
We go through this every year, people wanting protests, people cutting up their memberships and people planning rallies. We employ new coaches and sign new players, but every year it is the same, although this year it happened a lot quicker than normal. The bottom line we need a massive overhaul yet again, we need a coach that the players will not ride ruff shot over and we need to buy real quality NRL standard players and stop shopping in the reject basket and hopping for miracles. I have written this same post for three years now but nothing ever seems to change.

I get the feeling that Pascoe and the board no what the problems are but are finding it really hard to find a solution

That's because we shop continually in the Vinnies shop for our coaches and players every year
We hear people here say that 700,000 is too much to pay for a good quality second rower, well guess what kiddies , that's the sort of money that will be not unusual after the new grants are around , and we , as WTs will have to have to be looking at, or more to entice any quality player who cares about his career, and the longer that Taylor bungles through the season, the more it's likely to cost

The forum and the club are both a bit if a drag at the moment. Let's try to remember that ultimately we want the same thing.

Personally i couldn't care less about the personnel involved, i just want success. The road map for our future is not that hard to get right. I was willing to give JT a chance this year and for me it's this week or never. If we don't win i want him gone asap to try and leave enough time to salvage the year, if we do win the reality is he won't be gone for a month at least so there's no point going over the same negative stuff over and over again. Maybe that's what Russell and others mean? I'll use a less inflammatory example. I think buckets was a bad signing, and I'm an Eastwood boy who followed him from way back. However, he, like everyone else in the club, can perform in a way that changes my view. This is essentially my view. If performance improves on and off the field then all will be forgiven for mine, whether the coach is Gandalf or forest Gump wouldn't bother me in the least.

If you want to send a message to the club, I get that, it is a bad time to support wt. Maybe the best msg you can send is to not go? Or take a banner? Or organise a soccer style backs to the action protest when our 20 point lead gets run down lol

I'll probably go. And I'll probably clap every name they read out from our squad, even Taylor's. I'll stand up when the ground announcer asks us to, to cheer the boys onto the field. I'll boo the ref, I'll boo Melbourne, I'll sledge slater and he isn't even playing. When we score I'll get the same tingles I'm getting writing this, I'll look for a stranger to high five and then I'll cheer, boo and hiss some more. I'll probably pee orange and bleed black and white on the day. If we win I'll say it's all worth it. If we lose I'll say never again.

Then I'll be there for the next game.

That part really bothers me GCT. The longer JT is left to run the team into the ground the deeper the hole gets that the next guy needs to get us out of.

$700K is only about double what the prime minister of Australia earns, so JT salary if 50% is receiving about the same as Malcom Turnbull - fantastic value. I should have become a RL coach instead of chess coach.

I was all for JT being allowed to see out his contract this whole time but when do you pull the handbrake up and say enough is enough?

No you don't accept mediocrity - you get behind your bloody team and support them through thick and thin and stop whinging.

Do you want to further divide the club?

You might have money to throw away, but I work to hard for mine to keep pumping it into something that's run like a circus…. And that's a new one, being called a whinger for expressing an opinion on a forum.

But Russ, you do admit that you accept mediocrity, by saying that no matter what, we should be praising jumping up and down cheering for the club, just maybe some of us expect an effort from the club , the Coach and the team

Exactly!

The million dollar question is…will another coach be able to do what Potter and Taylor have not been able to do,given our playing roster, ability to attract quality players and of course our financial situation, and of course would we be able to attract a top shelve coach?????????????????????????

I think it is time for the players to have a hard serious look at themselves rather than taking pot shots at everything other than themselves

You're right this is as much the players fault as it is JT's, But let me put it like this… I coach a local park A grade side when I have players in my side not performing, not putting in effort, not up to the standard of the run on side then they get dropped to the bench or sit out the week if I have too many numbers available, I don't keep rewarding players with a starting jersey if they are letting the team down in one way or another. These guys then usually put in a better effort at training and in the game and work hard to prove themselves worthy of a starting spot again....Now I'm just your average joe that coaches park football so if I can work that much out to get the best out of my players why can't a 1st grade coach work it out? JT said in his press conference that we make soft decisions, that is exactly what he is doing too.. He refuses to make the tough decision in dropping certain players that don't deserve their spot

Your right.
And also price tags shouldn't make anyone immune from being dropped.

Absolutely… Whether you're the big money earner or the reggie brought up to fill a hole everybody needs to be held accountable. Complacency kills a football team.

Geez, it's not that complicated.

If you want to send a message to the club simply email<website@weststigers.com.au></website@weststigers.com.au>

The problem is if you withdraw your membership in protest, you usually end up financially penalising the club (assuming you attend less games) and with that you attack the foundation upon which success can be built.

Sure you can make arguments that poor business leadership and management should not receive funding, but the reality is we are very much a budget club, with budget facilities and budget spending power. You take away that financial support, you cannot expect the club to turn it around with even less money than we've had before.

Sure Jason Taylor is a budget buy coach - because we don't have the money for the Craig Bellamys of this world.

That's why I retain my membership - because the club almost certainly won't get into better shape without our collective financial support. I've been through hellish years as an old Balmain supporter… even with increased expectations, I am never going to forget how lean the 90s were and how close both Balmain and Wests came to not even existing any more.

You know what i have to agree with tigermac , there comes a point in time where you say to yourself enough is enough .
When they rang me up this year and asked me if i was going to renew ? i told them exactly what had to be said and let me tell you it wasn't good for the receiver .
I said to the guy you call me up the same time every year asking for money…..basically that's what your doing ( paying for Memberships ) , i told him people pay to get Entertained and if you feel like the Club isn't heading in that direction with the cheap budgeted signings we made ? why bother.
It's a massive commitment to give up your Family time every Weekend to see what ? a continued diabolical team selection with undeserved players continually picked every week.....Nah have better things to do the Beach is 5 minutes away.

When the Club gets there act together ? they have my money .

So we not doing gold class next year… 😢 😢

I find this whole thread amusing.

Do you think the club is not signing who they think the best coach is?? or sign the players that they think will do the best job?

What do you think the message will achieve, all of a sudden you think they will see a petition and say, ohhhh sign Des Hasler and the 3 best players in the world…..lucky they signed that petition.

The other little amusing one for me is that people want a coach who doesn't play favourites, any human in the world will have preferences on all sorts of things, including who is a better player, the other is, that just about every coach we have had picks the same players that we have accused the previous coach of favouring......perhaps they are just the best players we have!

The gap between lower grades and first grade is enormous, and getting bigger with the evolvement of full time top level footy and part time tier 2 footy, the blokes in the top squad are generally better than those behind them.

So do you think we don't have anybody in the lower grades that could do a better job than Buchanan and Milone??
Do you think when a player isn't performing he is bigger than the team and above getting dropped for a stint in state cup??

The gap between lower grades and first grade will become even bigger when we have coaches like Taylor using a player like Chee Kam for 18th , 19th or 20th man for half the games played this season. Chee Kam's lack of match fitness due to Taylor's weird selections isn't going to help Chee Kam's chances of breaking into first grade.

It's under review .

The next 10 Months will be massive for this Club, there is so many issues pending…...

1\. The Status of Balmain in relation to Wests Tigers
2\. Is Farah leaving 1 year early as to what his Manager stated could occur.
3\. What players are we purchasing for 2017
4\. What Brooks and Moses are doing ( not that I care) but the Club will Cop a hammering if they both leave!!!
5\. A clear view of our home ground situation?
6\. Who will be Coaching us next year?

I'm as Passionate as anyone on this Forum and I always spend at least $150.00 per year going to at least 2 home games in Sydney and Merchandise I might buy + all the costs in flights to get down there.
