Shameful sledging at matches towards players!!!

The Northern hill at Penriff stadium when we played there a few weeks back was chock a block full of our own supporters giving it deluxe to poor old Lote. Can't repeat alot of what was said on here but it was fair dinkum some of the most disgraceful stuff I have ever heard at a football park. The worst thing was it was an alcohol free zone which would suggest most of those people were of sober mind when they said it.

That said, that's nothing compared to when a young African fellow plays in the Spanish La Liga. The whole stadium goes up in unison with monkey chants. That's revolting.

That isnt my experience. Most rugby fans, especially in country areas are big rum swilling dudes who love to nude up.

On the whole rugby fans may seem more quiet and respectful….but that is because half of them are asleep! The other half carryon just as much as 'leagueies'....

It's a tricky one but I must say I have been embarrassed at LO with the family in the past from both WT and opposition fans foul language and abuse. I love a beer or three at the footy and have no problem with a four letter word in the right place but is it really necessary at the footy when you are obviously near to women and children?

And I would have to say that seating in a general supporters bay at a crowded SFS is predominately polite behaviour. Nor have I ever had an issue over the years when taking the family to Canberra stadium in the eastern stand (have enjoyed some banter there with the odd Raiders fan though).

The family is all growed up now so it matters less, but I've never been one to cop really foul language around women (and children). If you can't have fun without dropping the f bomb or the c bomb there's something wrong I reckon.

It is Illegal and an Offence in Queensland (not sure about NSW), so maybe removing offenders after an initial warning should occur?

I'm sure if I knocked someone's teeth down there throat for the continual use of explicit language around my boy, I'd be marched to the van, but the other illegal act is over-looked?! 😕

one of the magistrates down here in the last few years, of a high profile, dismissed a case of a person who was charged with constantly using the " f " word towards authorities. this magistrate, informed society that is it commonly used word, and not offensive.

you'd be hard pressed to hear the same language at an eastern suburbs filled sfs for a waratahs game.

I don't care who you are, or where you are, it is totally unacceptable to swear in front of children. Why should my child have to hear the vile language coming out of some idiots mouth, my child has just as much right to be at the footy as any adult. If you are ever sitting near me and start using inappropriate language, be prepared to be told to find your manner you low life grub.

Nothing wrong with some playful banter between teams but a lot of times it seems to be taken too far

I still reckon if a Nine or Fox camers catches someone racially or verbally abusing another fan they should be banned for 5 years the first time and for life the second

If you want to give it to the players thats fine , but their no need to swear or call him a green so and so

I admit I have verballed players before and I am ashamed that I did (Especially seeing the players parents were sitting within 5 metres of me )

Wife was still bawling as it was the Magpies v Crushers game the day Princess Di died i was pumped for it as a Maggies win would see them in the Top 8 We got thrashed ,I spent the rest of the game screaming at Paul Langmack to get wider of the ruck and when we left a portion of the crowd started a chant for me to "Go West young man"If only the knew I was heading up to Ipswich (which is most definitely west of Brisbane) :roll

i never knew the people in the stands at the tahs game are sipping earl grey tea with their noses in the air.

to what extent will you blame alcohol for the supposed racial sledging at union games?

ive never seen or heard any such tripe from pissed such and suches at the rugby games ive gone to.
