Shannon Gallant signs with NQ Cowboys

He was great today. I think he should resigned. Moltzen is going well at halfback so maybe leave them where they are…. and signed big props.

**RE-SIGN MIGHTY MOUSE NOW!!!**

Oh my god, what a game he had against his idol Matt Bowen. Outsprinted him in that fabulous try! Great Stuff, Shannon!

Definitely deserves a contract based on his recent performances. Only doubt is we have plenty of other decent fullbacks including Moltzen and maybe Lazarus, plus Mitch Brown on the way. However with Moltzen and Benji doing so well maybe next year we'll have

1\. Gallant
6\. Benji
7\. Moltzen

BRET:
1\. Lazarus
6\. Lui
7\. Lewis

Lazarus hasnt played footy in two years so I'd say he'd be in State Cup for the start if not most of the year.

Pity that this club's specialist Fullback wasn't given the fair and equal opportunity to impress earlier on in the season. The form Gallant has shown in the past 2 games now is that of his consistent nature in Reserve Grade for the past several seasons. Mighty Mouse has always been a cut above the Rest in NSW Cup. The make-shift/manufacturing option of playing Moltzen at Fullback was a mistake. The bloke did not nor was he comfortable playing in the No.1, yet was not going to argue if it meant playing First Grade. You play were your told. But, better late than never. As a fan, I would be extremely pleased if Gallant is Wests Tigers Fullback in 2010 and beyond. The kid has the speed, the skill, the ability, the tenacity and above all, the 'ticker' to match it with the best.

Shannon Gallant is not only the best fullback in the State Cup, he is one of the top 10 in the NRL.

He makes $20,000 a year. Pensioners make more than that.

He has a family to feed.

Martin Tauber is his manager. Martin is THE BEST in the business.

The way the Wests Tigers have treated Shannon is beyond a disgrace. He is a talented guy who is not in the click at the Wests Tigers and despite outstanding performances has never been allowed to have a **proper** shot.

I know for a fact that Tim Sheens wants him for 2010 but what role and how much they are willing to pay is up in the air and will probably be laughable.

How this guys is not in our top 25 and blokes with a 1/4 of his talent, passion and skill are, is beyond me.

There is one particular man in the WT organisation, and its not Sheens or Simmons, that for years has talked down Gallants ability and gotten into blokes ears and rubbished him behind his back. This man is directly responsible for Shannon's lack of opportunities and progression in that team because of his initial influence. That bloke should have been sacked years ago because his inabilities in his role have made him a laughing stock in the NRL. Unbeknown to the Sheens, this same man several weeks ago told Gallant not to go to Wests Tigers training again as they were not interested in him. Gallant was told to return to WT training by Sheens.

Does the place sound like a shmozzle ?? The answer is YES.

WT management, you are an absolute disgrace.

I keep thinking about your post BB and it honestly annoy's the living hell out of me! What a joke!

He's going great guns he should be offerd a contract straight away I don't know what we are waiting for 😕
out of all the 1st grade games he's played he's only had 1 or 2 ordinary games max

GO MIGHTY MOUSE!!!!!

I think its a bloody joke they havent signed him already it will be an absolute disgrace if they don't offer him a decent contract, people are crying out for some loyalty in the NRL and you have a great player that has said he wants to be a Tiger for life and the club hasn't signed him.

I just get the feeling the club is waiting for a decision from a player that may be coming to the club.

If he signs there may not be room for Shannon - if he doesn't come here then I think they will offer him a contract.

Although we criticize the recruitment team (mostly justified), sometimes they do have to make some pretty tough decisions.

Brown can play anywhere in the backline why is it u guys think he will play fullback for sure ??
did sheens say it ???

the centre spot is wide open(i think Ayshford will play lock)
1.Gallant/Lazarus
2.Tuiaki
3.Lawrence
4.Daniela/Brown
5.Tupou/Ryan

Lazarus can turn up and help Gallant tie his shoe laces up. .

Rubbish! Fair dinkum! Someone posts their thoughts and just because it differs to yours, you ridicule them and ridicule a fantastic young prospect in Lazarus. What makes your opinion so high an mighty….....

Gallant didn't impress me at all earlier on this season. Yesterday, he had a solid game. His best asset is his guts, determination and killer instinct. But to put Lazarus down when hasn't had an opportunity to show his stuff at NRL level shows your absolute bias......agaain :unamused:

well said tigh , couldnt have said it any better myself, they r both good players n it will b up to them 2 show who gets that position , noone will b tyin anyones shoe laces up pfttt

At the end of the day, Lazarus is here for next season. Gallant is fighting to stay here. Do both players have talent? Undoubtedly yes. Is there room for both? Well I guess we'll know the answer in a couple of weeks if Gallant is re-signed.

Sorry I can't see how a person with the ego and stature of Tim Sheens would let anyone else within the club have any influence over decisions relating to recruitment and team selection.

I tell what would cheese me off - if we play Mitch Brown at fullback next season isntead of Gallant.

Don't worry…....Gallant and Lazarus will fight for the FB spot.

So two players not in the top 25 next season will compete for the number 1 jersey ?….... _the Wests Tigers way._

Watch this space…..........unless we sign a true HB - then Moltzen will be the front runner, ahead of Gallant and Lazarus.

A solid game? He had a great game. It is a pity that Lazarus is injured. I would love for him to be competing for this spot, but the facts are, he is not competing for this spot. Gallant is and in all the games he has played in 1st grade he has played very well in most of them. Lazarus has not achieved that yet which is why I am saying what I am saying. Gallant should be infront of Lazarus in the fullback stakes but I am not sure if he is in the eyes of the WT . Gallant saved and scored on the weekend. He was outstanding.

CT says he has seen Lazarus cut sides apart. So have I, but not in 1st grade. Apart from Hodgson, what fullback in WT history can do what Gallant does in attack?? The true and honest answer is NO ONE. NO WT fullback (aprt from Hodgo) has ever had the strike power of Gallant.

Its plain and simple.

That post, BB, I find hard to argue with!

That is very different from your original post with lazarus tying Gallants boots. All I ask is to keep it real. I am a Gallant supporter. I love the kid. He has more ticker than half our forward pack. But to say Lazarus can come and do up his boot laces is ridiculous. Your last post, however, makes sense. What I'd like to see is Gallant and Lazarus go head to head and fight for the position. We will be in good stead with these 2 fighting it out. However, don't be surprised to see Moltzen back at No.1\. I understand Sheens is not decided on where he wants Motlzen as yet, but he will be in the top 13\. A lot will depend on whether we attract a genuine No.7.
