Shannon Gallant signs with NQ Cowboys

Sheens just made a positive comment about him in the Fox leadup to the manly game.
First positive comment i've heard from him about Mighty Mouse.

Can;t remember exactly. Just along the lines that he was playing well.
Very brief but normally sheens doesn;t even think he's worth a mention so it was a step in the right direction.

Well he performed well again tonight. Missed Watmough twice, but to get him the one time he did was a great effort, no one can tackle Choc.

His support play tonight was top shelf. In the first half he caught 2 or 3 offloads in a row just from hanging behind the play. Exactly what a fullback should be doing. Give the man a damn contract already Tigers!!! What more does he have to show?!

sign him up..best attacking fullback we've had since Garry Jack!

Lets not get carried away.

Every week in attack he seems to be improving quite a bit, which is good to see.

His defence though needs to get better…or more consistent would be a better way of putting it. He made a really good round the legs tackle on Watmough the first time...but then abandoned that style of tackling for the rest of the match and tried stopping guys double his size by tackling them around the chest.

That said he has earned at least the right to see out the year as our NRL fullback through the sheer weight of the Gallant, Marshall, Moltzen, Farah formula doing so well.

You're being very harsh on Hanbury. He was coming off the bench playing any number of 5 different positions every week. He did his job with distinction as far as I'm concerned.

I agree - Hanbury played well in every game he played.

I don't think I'd play him in the team atm but he played well when he was given his chance.

I think Gallant should take Hanbury's spot in the top 25 as he is much closer to 1st grade standard than Hanbury at fullback… but Hanbury does offer the utility value I suppose... but i'd still go for Gallant if it was down to one or the other...

Hanbury had plenty of chances to have a stand out moment.

Besides a couple of breaks against parra? he has not impressed.

Plenty people in the club talk him up though.

Gallant on the otherhand has been impressive in all but 2 games.

I disagree, i thought he was woeful in the game vs Penrith at CUA. Ill admit since then hes improved, but i still feel that Gallant is a much better option at fullback.

agree on all counts djm619
his first touch he lost the ball and the panthers score.
plus he dropped a bomb and the panthers score.
gallant is a true fullback who has shown the step up to first grade is a comfortable one for him.

Gallant is a confidence player and the more he feels he is part of the team the better he will go. His lack of size will loose us the odd game but his speed and ability will win us more. If we dont act Iam sure another team will pounce, I think you will find the Bronks are in the market for a no1

How will his lack of size lose us games?

Please explain.

Shannon Gallant arrived at his Year 10 formal in a thudding Holden Clubsport. One NRL poster boy behind the wheel. “And you’d think having Anthony Minichiello as your driver, well it would help things a bit,” the Wests Tigers fullback laughs. “ But I couldn’t even jag a parter to go with me…Mini dropped me off with three mates.”
>
Dubbed Mighty Mouse because of his small stature. Gallant is poised to continue his unlikely Rugby League rise this Sunday when he lines up against his schoolboy idol at the SFS. Gallant you see has known Roosters superstar Minichiello almost his entire life. A friendship was formed shortly after his parents Scott and Leanne first rented a Casula home from the clan that would go on to produce two NRL footballers.
>
“Yeah we were renting from the Minichiellos back when Anthony was playing Jersey Flegg.” Gallant recalls. “So I’d always watch him play lower grades with the Roosters. “ And over the years it’s really been his game I’ve tried to replicate. Trying to be a support player like him and Matty Bowen. So while I am looking forward to playing him this Sunday.... I’ve also seen any number of times what he can do to an opposition.”
>
Standing at what he insists is 172cm, Gallant has become something of a media favourite while also earning cult status amoung Tigers fans. “But all the media hype. I’m trying not to get caught up in any of that.” The Western Suburbs junior says. ‘Personally, my size hasn’t been an issue for years now.”
>
The Tigers late rise has mad them a hit with punters with TAB Sportsbet lowering the sides price to win the title from $67 to $26 after their one-point win over Manly.
>
Speaking of his friendship with Minichiello, Gallant says their only on field meeting was atrial game at the same venue in February this year. He still analyses the 2005 Golden Boot, reckons he’ll have no dramas with a switch to the Roosters No. 6 and “would love to one day become even half the player he’s been.”
>
Which really leaves the Daily Telegraph with only one question. What transpired after the girls saw you arrive at that Year 10 formal with the Sydney Roosters sex symbol? “ Mate absolutely nothing” Gallant grins. “thats how bad I was going......not even Anthony Minichiello could save me.”

Size doesn't matter with Gallant hasn't for years..... it will never cost us games...His heart is to big thats' the size that counts.......

They dont sign talent,,just look at the unsigned talent in the lower grades where about to lose….

look at the terrible signings for next year, Daniela the human Carpet that got walked over all game last week when playing for Widsor by Josh Davis and R.Pritchard. Daniela would be lucky to make the Magpies or Balmain team next year in the type of form he is in. See him going round for Campbelltown Eagles next year. Mitch (Who) Brown, I am sorry but he is not a good buy when you have Josh Davis, R.Pritchard, Nu Akipera who all deserve there chances in FG and would of been bought for alot less. And thats ex bronco who cant even stay on the park for a week. He may be a big guy for the wing but he will be out for the season if he plays in the trials cause he will be injured (AGAIN). Good work recruitment!!!! up to ur regualr standard. If Gallant doesnt get a contract, niether should anyone in recruitment next year.
