CRONULLA are the latest club to abandon the NSW Cup, while in other changes the club has announced a respected businessman as their new group chief executive.
>
The Sharks have pulled out of the NSW Cup because they can't afford to field a team in the second-tier competition and are currently reviewing alternatives.
>
CEO Richard Fisk said the most likely scenario would involve excess players being "farmed out" to a team in regional NSW. Bundaberg Shield sides Perth Reds and Chester Hill Rhinos are also unlikely to compete next year because of cash flow issues.
>
Meanshwile John Osborne, who spent 15 years as CEO of the Mingara Club on the Central Coast, will assume a role that oversees the leagues club, football club and property development at Cronulla. Fisk will continue in his current role.
>
"It is all positive and we are on the way up," said Cronulla chairman Damian Irvine. "The role of Group CEO has been created to engage the community and drive an evolution that will result in the Sharks being seen as the benchmark for professional sporting and hospitality organisations in Australia.
>
"During his 15 years as CEO of Mingara Club, John was able to transform a relatively obscure club into one of the largest and most successful clubs and community sporting organisations in Australia.
>
"John's background and experience fits like a glove with the recent reinvigoration of the Sharks' entire organisation."
>
Osborne will start his new role on January 4.
Hope J Mo and Collis hold their first grade spots…....... 😱pen_mouth:
