Sharks NRL recruit Fifita bares his claws

oh Rubbish Bug… One player doesnt lose you a game.

Just because this peanut is talking up something which aligns itself with your anti Sheens/Humpty agenda, doesnt mean we wouldve progressed any further in the 2011 comp. The reason Fifita wasnt in our squad for the Finals was due to his poor off-field behaviour and attitude when he was punted back to NSW Cup. In fact, judging by the pace of the Warriors Final, I highly doubt Fifita wouldve been effective at all, as the guy hasnt put anymore than a 8-11 minute stint on a footy field in 2 years...

Fifita will have a fine game against us. He is a better player than Groat and Bell. He is more dangerous than Woods.

He will have a fine debut.

Those of you who are rubbishing him are fools. Watsh his hit ups in the All Stars game. They were straight, hard and all quality.

If he played for us in the Semi's we would not have lost against the Warriors and we would have smashed Melbourne in Melbourne.

Sheens lost us the comp again last year with his selections.

Right, and that had nothing to do with Lawrence and Tuqiri being green after spending the most of 2011 injured, or the fact Gibbs fell apart after 20 mins and had to come off? Want to pin that on Sheens as well? :unamused:

The reason we didn't win in 2011 was because we slacked off for a short period of time against the warriors & suffered from it, hopefully we don't make that mistake this year

And that Matty Groat was out of his depth . . . .

You are just peeved that Fifita has more power, more mongrel and more ability than all of our forwards barring Galloway and Ellis.

Bug i do enjoy most of your posts mate but to say that If fifita played in the warriors game we would have won is beyond a joke. groat played ok and to keep blaming Sheens for anything you feel is wrong is just plain Stubborn on your part. I would have much preffered to have kept gibbs than Fifita.

No, Im not peeved… I will agree that Groat was shown up a couple of times in the Warriors game.

I'm not convinced Andrew has the ability to go to the next level. I stated at the start of last year I doubt he will last 10 games, as I felt Begovich could offer more. As it was he played 17 games so I was wrong, and Begovich was over-looked for Groat.

He has a big mountain ahead of him... The majority of his climb is getting over himself!

I do like Fifita Bug but you have to admit Woods is far a better player at this stage and far more consistent.

I do agree that right now Fifita is better than Groat, but it all comes down to attitude. Fifita's is questionable and from what I've told Groat trains the house down. He can only get better.

Fifita has all the talent in the world but will need to pull his head in if he is to succeed.

I was sorry to lose Fifita, he can have great impact, but so could Daine Laurie.

I agree with Hybrid that Woods is a better prospect in terms on minutes and consistency. I saw photos of Groat on the WT Website and he is looking much leaner. He may be more mobile this year and should really kick on.

Who really cares what he thinks!!

I would not have a problem if it was Gibbbs shooting his mouth off, that bloke bled black, white and gold, but Fifita ppffft.
Bring on round 1\. :righton:

It's all good publicity for the round one clash which should be a beauty. Similar antics to the WWE or weigh in at the boxing the journos just like geeing the fans up Fifita probably didn't say half of what was attributed to him and Gibbs has been around too long to get sucked into the press mix.

Despite all the hype they will have their chance first week in March and may the best man win.

I'm one who thinks Fifita has enormous potential - and hope he goes on to show it.
For some reason he fell out of favour towards the back end of the season with us.
We lost against the Warriors primarily because of a poor last tackle option near the end of the game.
Not sure that if Fifita had been there he would have booted the bloody ball down the other end of the field…

"Through the All Stars game, I was just praying I didn't get injured. I'm ready to rock and roll for the Cronulla Sharks."

And you'll be praying for it again Fifi.

Seriously, what footballer admits to worrying about being injured during a match?

Brent Tate - although who can blame him.

Anthony Cherrington

problem with Fifita is that he is not consistant enough. he does have some great games in him but to often he goes missing and needs to learn how to run straight and not crab across field. i hope he does ok at the gummys but just not against us. Gibbs is another story as i really would have liked to have kept him.

Your talking about a guy who has played about 30-odd games. Some guys take time to develop consistancy

I'd agree with that Bug. I can't remember if it was a silly penalty or a stupid mistake, but he followed it up 1 min later when he missed a simple 1 on 1 tackle on James Maloney i think it was which lead to the Warriors first try

AF was a lot more direct in the All Stars game but his form last year did not warrant selection for first grade. He had every chance during the year to prove otherwise but on and off the field showed he was not in the best 17\. All Sheens can do is pick the best side based on current form and attitude and the ongoing needs of the team.
Now I'm not offering an opinion if Groat was or wasn't out of his depth but he was, IMO, a better choice than Fifita at the time.

Fonz doesn't like players who talk out of line. I hope Jacob Miller takes note.

And nor should he Bug So a first full season player with a bad attitdue should be talking down or telling off a coach that has been in the business for 25 years and been very successful to boot

Mate I wouldn't have been game to talk down to or tell off my first senior coach He would've taken me out the back of the dressing sheds and probably belted the tripe out of me 😱pen_mouth:

Face it Bug Fifita maybe more talented than Groat will ever be , but when it comes down to week to week performances Groat will be far more consistant and to try and compare Fifita to Woods Woods wins by KO in the first no challenge at all

I hope Groaty rises to the challenge and gives it to Fifita and puts "The Crab' into the second row of seats

In 2011 Fifita was way behind Woods and probably on a par with Groat. He may one day be a super star but he is nowhere near that status yet and certainly isnt worth the cash the Sharks are parting with.

As for all the headlines, great for us, more headlines means more bums on seat come round one!!!

I see Bug, what's this comment about, is there something between Sheens and Miller that we haven't heard about?
