Shawn Blore #235

Yeah exactly. I reckon Fulton wanted to offload him at the time that he wanted Schuster here. Maybe now he & Benji are on the same page (as he said they were on Ask The Boss).
It’s a worry that Fulton even entertained the idea of having Schuster here. He’s a dud and we’re currently looking like we dodged a bullet there. I hope he has better vision for other future potential acquisitions.

Very concerned about Fultons judgement based on Schuster....picked the wrong player to make his mark,so I'm backing Benji so long as he doesn't make it an old boys reunion

Fulton obviously did some time in Western Sydney (haunting schools in his own words) and formed some good relationships with some quality youngsters and their families, I give him credit for that. Question is, is he still doing it or is he just living off those relationships now?

Id like to know who the half of the club are that didn’t want him.

Too many people calling the shots. I don’t know why they can’t keep this stuff internal and sing to the same tune externally.
He’s missed a shit tonne of footy and yet to dominate the NRL, you don’t rush to re-sign guys like that. Only young and potentially a good first grader but it’s clear his manager is at work here. Not the club leaking.

Shawn Blore admits he is not entirely sure what awaits him when the Tigers finish up their campaign in two weeks’ time.

Earlier in the year, the young forward learned via social media he was free to test the open market. Interest came from Melbourne, and Blore met with Storm coach Craig Bellamy – only to be told by the Tigers they wanted to keep him after all.

Blore, who is contracted for 2024, would love nothing more than to stick around for the long haul and help the perennial NRL strugglers.

But hearing Bellamy’s vision – and attracting interest from a powerhouse club like the Storm – got the 23-year-old thinking seriously about his next move.

“I found out through social media I was being shopped around a few months back,” Blore told this masthead.

“I met up with my manager straight away, and he explained to me what was happening. My impression from it all was that was one side [of club management] was happy for me to walk away, but one side was happy to keep me.

“Benji [Marshall] and ‘Sheensy’ [Tim Sheens] were keen to keep me. I’m a very loyal person. They gave me a chance when I was coming off a knee injury.

“As it stands, I just want to finish the season and see what happens from there. I’ll know more in two weeks what’s going on. My heart lies with the club. I hope they keep me, and fingers crossed they do keep me.”

Blore met Bellamy in Sydney, and the premiership-winning coach told him how things operated down south, and how the club viewed him as a middle forward. The former Penrith junior, who sees himself playing on an edge, said it was “hard not to be impressed” by Bellamy and the Storm.

“I remember telling my old man and a few close friends Melbourne were interested – I’m still flattered now [a club] of that calibre was interested,” Blore said. “I don’t think Melbourne has ever had a bad player. The players that go there turn into superstars.

“But I also don’t want to jump ship when things get hard here. I want to see the Tigers win. I just want a proper pre-season. I want to leave everything out there [next pre-season], and become a player who plays 80 minutes, and then some.”
We gotta extend him asap. He talks loyalty to the club and is a go’er who improves his game and he will continue to improve as long as he can stay injury free.

My feeling is that Blore would have to take a bit of a haircut salary wise if he joined the Storm. Think they will make him into a star but ironically is likely to make more if he stays with the Tigers.

Too many people calling the shots. I don’t know why they can’t keep this stuff internal and sing to the same tune externally.

It's our squad. We have 1 spot available and we need to resign some players and recruit some players. It's a mess at this point.

I bet there are some tough internal discussions. I'd expect that to be the case.

Fans on here get so overexcited about certain players. Stef has been pretty average and we'll have him on a 7 figure salary soon. Blore has been pretty good but the comments about SOO are hilarious. Mind you Stef made the team this year for 10 minutes or so and it was completely undeserved.

Yes , it’s messy and embarrassing for the player , The coach should have the say , Board should have no say on the player , but input into his value maybe , Justin and also that Punk Lee again no say , the coach knows who he needs or wants simple , Typical Tigers , good young player likes it at the club and we are passing about , Benji also needs to get his finger out and lock him up for 25

Blore is on the books for 24 , need to hook him up for 25 , I’d keep him over sayfarts

Was rumoured Kepoa was the other.

They can have him... I don't see it with him, but I can with Blore.

He's only going to get better.
If Bellyache wants Kepoa it could only be as a bench second rower.

I think that is where he is best suited and where his future should be.

We have been hopelessly short of capable centres which is why he and Tommy keep getting picked there.

Storm have moved on.
