That was the worst interview from a questions point of view I've ever heard. His questioning about how crap this side has been was stale after one question let alone 8. It's like putting on 5-6 kgs over Christmas and someone constantly telling you you've 'been in a good paddock' over and over. Doesn't anyone at the DT pull him up on it? Pathetic.

I also hate this top 8 rubbish. Making the top 8 doesn't make you a contender. Top 4 show that you are constant all year and can be a contender. 12 teams are not contenders at the moment.

They were terrible questions but I think Sheens turned it into a great interview by answering all that rehashed BS with good, straight responses and putting it all to rest for good. I don't think old Boil Face ( thanks Batboy ) will be going back there anytime soon.

So the old... Gotta have patience, 3 years routine.
Heard that before

It’s a nonsense.
All clubs can have 3 years plans but all clubs can’t win in the third year.

I still remember there was a CEO for us that said "Top 8 this year, Top 4 next year and Premiership the year after".. was it Pascoe?

Sheens is masterful and professional in front of the media and behind the scenes.
As a member, I want NOBODY else interacting with the media at any time other than Madge n players in post game interviews. No Fedora, no Pascoe.

Buzz didnt get anything from sheens except positives even though Buzz was all about **developing negative outcomes in this interview.**
Looking forward to finals next year with consolodation in the team for player who want to be their and give their all. Open the Mary st gates now

Thats the Rothfiled way, and same as many other journo's. If you dont get what you want, make it up. Quoting in interviews leaves you little room to BS. Im surprised Rothfield cut his own throat on that one to be honest.

I agree, but to be fair to Pascoe and Lee, the supporters are screaming for info, and you have no one in that position to look after that stuff like you do at other clubs. Lee is Chairman and I bet he would prefer to do just that without the extra. Pascoe is the CEO and I bet he'd prefer to do just that too. Even Madge as coach - I bet he just want to coach.

Unfortunately in the past, these well meaning guys have tried to fill a hole that isnt their job or within their expertise. It didnt go well. That should all stop now.

No I agree with all you say - i just think now Sheens is here everything should go through him, just my opinion.

No issues with Buzz's questions, think Sheens would've stated beforehand what was permitted or not.
There were some tough ones - which was to be expected - however they were undoubtedly scripted to engage or connect with a certain audience.
Thought the only controversial turn he took (in the interview) was the Brooks and Madge relationship but he didn't push any further after Sheensy's response, which was respectful IMO.
On that note, I agree with @Lukic. The doco showed that there's an obvious communication barrier there. (So Sheens basically tried to extinguish any talk by emphasising how its common practice in Sports.)

Found Sheens weaved a narrative which best promotes the club/team, was considerate of the supporters and stakeholders. Basically protecting everyone's interests.
There's a clear strategy to neutralise any criticisms and help change the brand perception.
More than anything I appreciate that he was honest and realistic. He highlighted our strengths and weaknesses and how our set goals are quite manageable and attainable with stability (including financial) and when everything starts to fall into place for us.
He was direct and to the point but only revealed what was necessary.

Well, shop Brooks around if he cant handle Madge's playing style...

Madge just wants him to RUN the ball..

but I am kind of thing he might also want him to put bombs up every 5th tackle.

who knows..

Know Brooks isn't exactly popular but cmon Madge's style of play is honestly the most boring, bland and uninspiring brand of footy.
I'd rather poke my eyes out than endure another year of it.
Almost everyone needs to raise their game really.

Sheens made reference to Jack Gibson's tutelage. If you read about Gibson, innovation was one of his strengths. I always considered Sheens an innovator as well. Reading your comments above (which I agree with), there may be interesting times ahead.

Agreed. Something a Commentator said: we have Manly, Wests Tigers and <another team>...everyone else is being the Melbourne Storm!

Sheens has been an innovator. Some of his ideas have been right, some wrong. He probably did noy blood our pack hard enough. The key is Sheens always had "the play" ready. WT did stuff no one did. If Sheens just adds one play every 4 games then we will be fine.

Well lets hope that Ben Gardiner, the new attacking coach changes it up abit.

I thought the Magpies had a good attacking season, but then again, it is reserve grade.

The whole bomb thing on the 5th tackle happens when the team don't make enough ground up field to make any attacking raid - we don't have any Tommy T's in our sqaud to score length of the field tries. It is a tactic all teams use to give their defenders time to get in the face of the opposition in defence. If it is over used its because of our lack of field position in the opposition half and a poor kick chase to drive any ascendancy in defence. You need leaders on the field to drive defence, force errors and give something for the attack to work behind - then you might see some improvement in the way the team plays.
Our strike rate when in the opposing teams 25 was pretty good. Getting there was the problem especially against quality teams
