Sheens Doesn't Want a Traditional Halfback

France I think…

Lets get back on topic though... Sheens didn't want Nicholls either

Hence were is he now. Dunley played 22 out of the 26 games at half in 2008 and 2009 my mistake

Nicholls, Dunley and now Meaney, Miller..you can go on with this. Far from being the promoter of juniors , Sheens just wont give them a look in.

Just shows people look at the number on the jersey only, without watching the game.

Must be tough for them when a player is a late inclusion and wears 22 or something

In his call on abc durring the Sharks storm game, warren ryan just said if their is every a team that needs a journey man style half back( ie jeff robson style )its the tigers as would allow Benji to be his own man again. How true is that, but will Sheens ever get the message, I doubt it

Benji plays halfback when he wants to and shifts to 5/8th when he wants to.

Ideally we need an organising player that is savvy but OK with being told what to do by Benji. Marshall has great vision, but he does need someone else out there that can inject themselves into the attack when Benji is out of ideas.

We have a very odd set up, I honestly think Benji has too much power in the team and hence we're too dependent on his personal form/mood.

Re lui: benji couldn't tackle early on either.

I'm hoping Anasta is coming here to lead some one through an "apprenticeship"

I hope he plays from lock. And the chosen halfback gets a good long crack at lock.

I know a lot of forum members are a fan of miller, but he hasn't shown much with his cracks at first grade, although this years performances looked a lot better then last years.

I can only assume, if my Anasta leadership theory is correct, will be to show Sironin the ropes.

Our captain wants a halfback:

"It's a little different at the Tigers, so it was a change to play with Mitchell Pearce for City," Farah said.

"With that combination I knew my job and stuck to it.

"With respect to the guys who've played at the Tigers, we haven't had a genuine halfback for a while. We've chopped and changed and sometimes I've played first receiver in games."

"Sticky (Stuart) was really honest and told me what I needed to do."

Seems pretty darn clear on the field as well. Surely those that are making the decisions can see it as well, so why all the chopping and changing? No one has had any time to gel. Mind you, some combinations should surely have formed during the off season, shouldn't they? Beginning of the season it was like the entire side had never played together before.

This is all well and good that Robbie obviously thinks we lack a genuine halfback, but the more important question is why doesn't Sheens think we need one? We won a premiership last time we had one, and we got close two years straight with Lui there.

It's blatantly obvious that when Miller has been given a run in first grade, he's not able to call over Marshall or Farah and utilise his kicking game, and basically sits on the fringes defending. Tom Humble can actually play at half and has been closed down to allow Marshall to play from first receiver. I don't understand what Sheens' obsession is with trying to turn one of the most dynamic pivots in the game into a halfback. It's killing his running game and his creativity.
