Sheens future Safe at Wests Tigers

I'm all for it. 2 premierships in 5 years would be a decent record imo, even without any finals appearances in between.
Sheens has done enough in the past 4 years to get us to the finals, its the players who have let themselves down. I must admit the continual use of John Morris was detremental though and that was all Sheens.

Apart from Bellamy or Bennett I can't see who else would be a suitable replacement.

I think there is too many people that either weren't around or have forgotten the ugly years before Sheens appointment. No other coach even going back to the later years of both Balmain and Wests has done anywhere near as good as Sheens.

We haven't made the finals, but we won in 2005 and every year since has been exciting. I go into games knowing we can beat anybody. Before Sheens time I was just happy if we didn't get 20 points put on us.

Short memories people. Morris is gone…. extend Sheens contract now!

After the last four years way to early to be making any coaching decisions, maybe a few KPI"S have to be met first!!
Theirs no problem having contract talks and even striking a deal, but surely their must be a minimum bench mark set that the team must achieve by mid season before the new deal is ratified.

So u prefer to fail with the same guy year after year rather than fail trying new things? Fair enough, i prefer to try something new if things are'nt working but thats just me. However, i must point out again, im not saying we should sack Sheens, we should wait and see how 2010 goes. But if we struggle again, surely no one can argue he has to go.

Don't bring reason into it….:brick:

Jeas… so 12 sides should dump their coach by mid-season?

The other 12 sides havent had 4 years of failures with the same coach.

Roosters have had 3 coaches in 3 years. How they been going lately?

How have the WT NYC team been going lately? No surprises when Grant Jones took over the reigns the team stopped underperforming…

Hello every one i carnt remember if it was this site or another but i said that Mr Sheens was going to get a new contract before it was in the paper with him talking to the club about a new contract…..I was told he has been offed two years and will sign the contract in the next three weeks ....All is well at the tigers every one is happy with him and the players for this year they all think it will be a big year ..and are happy to let go of some players that where on big money that did not play as well as some people at the club hope they would......also hear that Sheens will be at the club for a long time if all goes well but not as coach in the long run .. its good when you know people who work at the club you hear many things ..

Was just having a look at the Tele at the all teams section and noticed a minor mistake (very unlike the Tele)or maybe a premonition

I'm just curious. For the people who want Sheens gone, is their anybody in particular that you'd like to see replace him?

personally i dont want to see him leave but if push comes to shove id like to see folksy take it or the return of brown.

Maybe I live in a different world…but how cld anyones future feel "safe" after 4 consecutive years of failures in any business or sport??
I just dont get it..words like "accountability","results-oriented" ,"success"etc just seem to be meaningless in this place,& they certainly aint in Sheens vocabularly. .
Humphries, dont be bamboozled by the Sheensspeak,& more importantly act like the businessman yr resume suggests you are ,& DONT SIGN ANYTHING re Sheens future tenure until he puts some results on the board (mid 2010)..if he doesnt, give Folkes a run at it.

I reckon Brownie would go alright.

Sheens just can't get results with squads which should always be in the mix for finals footy.

He's been at the Tigers for what, 7 years now?

Time some fresh ideas - even if we do make the top 8 or even 4 our board should still be looking for other candidates for the job.

I 😛ray: we do well this year and at least make the finals.

But if we miss out on the finals again, yet still re-sign Sheens, we'll be the laughing stock of the competition.

Midway through last season the media began to question Sheens, another poor season this year and they'll be all over him.

What a joke if we sign him before the season starts. They shouldn't make a decision untill halfway through the season at the earliest. We haven't made the finals for 4 season in a row and that is just not good enough. I'm not saying it's all his fault but he chooses what players we sign and keep, and what positions they play in, and the tactics used, so he is largely responsible. If we don't make the finals this year then he must go!

I'm not opposed to Sheens staying on but as alien said, I'd be waiting until the halfway point in the season before deciding whether to offer the extension. I'm very confident the Tigers will be a stronger performing team this year and we will make the finals and if that plays out then I've got no dramas with Sheens staying on.
