Sheens survives at Tigers for now

Sheens deserves a payout, simple as that. But if I were the WT and my hand was forced, I'd make sure if a pay out was given he can't approach a club for 2 years.

Yeah you're right. What we should do is 'Give him permission to negotiate elsewhere'. ….....

Why not play hard ball, tell him we will keep him for two years on full pay and give him Royces old job, or make him the runner. Iam sure we could than get to the table and work out a better settlement . He is not a victim, he failed to deliver and than put the blame on his most loyal players. He is a snake

I totally agree with this, as if one breaks a contract there needs to be compensation however if you know there is an alternate agenda and there is a more lucrative contract pending then having a double dip at the trough is unethical. Also I am assuming that when his last contract was renewed surely there was some out clauses for not acheiving performance standards otherwise it is a one way street and what is there for the employer here. So using this idea that payments pehaps be made quarterly in advance and can cease on the take up of a new contract within the remaining two years would be only fair to all parties. But then I am no lawyer and who knows how water tight his contract was.

There is a simple solution. You make it a condition of any settlement re his termination that should he obtain another coaching contract in the next 2 years he is required to pay back the Tigers any amount received.

At law people are not entitled to profit from a breach of contract. In fact, you have a duty to mitigate your loss.

You are both missing the point.
Unless there is a performance clause to get rid of him then WE are breaking the contract.
They will most likely have to top up whatever the Warriors pay him so he keeps on the same salary.
PS . I hope he goes!

Well either Channel 9 have moved to a neutral position or the original poster got it wrong. Kenny Sutcliffe just played a rock solid straight bat on the issue.

I think it was your first option!!

It was in the 5pm sports bulletin…no bull....I too noticed they didn't repeat it again at 6pm...who knows!..

I hope Sheens stays but if he doesent I hope the clean out still goes ahead and we get Tony Smith as his repalcement

Board meeting has not even happened yet, in the article it says thuresday night…expect an announcement about 8:30-9:30 pm

Try probably 10.30-11.00 This won't be pretty and it will be messy and you probably still won't have an answer

According to Foxsports it started at about 6.00 to 6.30\. However, who knows.

Wouldnt be surprised if we heard nothin til next week….keep us all hangin all w/end

Yeh I dont mind that either

This is certainly a different type of off-season. Usually after the last game, we guess the line-up for round one for months. Stability would be nice but obviously isn't in the immediate future.

Here's hoping whoever is coaching and playing for this club in 2013, isn't underachieving and a successful year is ahead.

They would be better of letting everyone know the results fairly quickly so they can get the membership drive into full swing. This limbo does not make people want to renew or sign up.

If its a new coach it will be " clean slate, get on board"

If its sheens staying it will be " the coach has something to prove, get on board"

Uncertainty is a hard thing to market.

I wonder how the losses of paying Sheens out now against the losses of lost memberships, GA ticket sales and merchandise will stack up. I sincerely hope that someone at the club is doing the numbers. I have a few mates who are Tigers members also and they have all said they will not be renewing or buying merchandise next year either.
