So whi is it that decided Sheens stays "before" the board meeting.Whats the ues of a board.

To force a payout. Sheens is a grub. Not only stuffs us up on the field put also wants to punish us financially. Zero credibility.

highly unfair.

He like most humans almost certainly thinks he can keep doing the job, and like everyone else, he has a contract and would like the terms of the contract met.

That does not make him a grub.

There is nothing grubby at all about Sheens.

Yep only one grub here and not Sheens.

I don't hate Sheens, but he's do his time with us. He's no grub, I'd want what I was entitled to as well.

If he ain't set for life with an annual pay packet of over 400k - then he is as inept with hs money as he is a coach. It's clear the majority want him go. Yet he as the arrogance to think he is still entitled to something after the results of this year.

He does think he is entitled. He has a contract that says he is. Grow up.

And what if we don't pay him out and he doesn't get offered another coaching job what does he do then? Criticise him for his job as a coach if you must but don't criticise a 60 year old man for trying to secure his future

Exactly, any heat over a potential payout should be directed at those who offered him such a lucrative deal.

Beau and Gibbs thought they had a contract too - what's your point. Grow up yourself.

Gibbs was told he could look around and see if he could get a better deal. He did and chose to leave. All reports are Beau chose to leave because of Heigno.

At no time has the club not met there contractual commitments to any player.

I am happy for Sheens to go but he is entitled to be paid out if that decision is made.

In he's own mind he will justify that he knocked back big money from the Panthers to remain loyal to us, and will feel that Wests Tigers have a responsibility to honour his contract which he's entitled to do.
As much as we might disagree…

He's on over $650,000 a year - can't see him volunteer to walk away without getting a payout of some kind or getting another gig.

What a offseason sure beats reading 92 pages on Lincon Withers or 100 pages on Willie Mason. You would have think Sheens is a dead duck but in saying that, if theirs no other job to go to, a million bucks is a massive payout

I'm all for sheens going, but not for Nathan brown, Jason Taylor is a good coach and was unfairly punted from souths and parra.

I'd be looking at Michael hagan, Daniel Anderson Steve folks. Other then those 3 I dint see a sense in going for a noob

Well either Channel 9 have moved to a neutral position or the original poster got it wrong. Kenny Sutcliffe just played a rock solid straight bat on the issue.

Regardless of contract he didn't do the job he was paid to do and that's why a payout is painful. If the board had brains it would have had performance based clauses in it, but we are talking about the WT board. If he stays bye bye Robbie, other players, aponsors, members and the like. then the board can tell us how the $1M was small change

I would be very doubtful the pay out would be the full value of his contract or we have some very poor lawyers working for the club.

No coach can guarantee a finals place and to say a coach should be disentitled to a payout for not making the finals is ridiculous.

I stood next to Bryce Gibbs at a Civinex tradeshow 18 odd months ago (He was sprucing Eco slabs and we were selling alloy scaffold. He said to me tat he wanted to stay and not go anywhere. I said 'You'vegot a contract - bugger em'. His response was that if he stayed he wouldn't be playing first grade (threat to him).

Point being - even though he had a contract, Bryce was pushed out cause he wasn't wanted. So why shouldn't sheens take a bit of his own medicine and find another gig - move on without expecting us to pay him out.

x 2 gun … anderson would be good for the club imo

He was told he wouldn't play first grade. He still would have been paid. No player is guaranteed a first grade spot. He chose to leave because he was told the club was looking at changes. His contract wasn't terminated with no compensation.
